Project Sim State: Week One, Swain

Swain: Love and Marriage

Hello again!

In contrast to the last PSS update, this one is not dramatic and sort of plotty. The game gave plot to the Pitts, but decided the Swains didn't need any, I guess. Hopefully it's still enjoyable.

The first thing Erik did after he moved in with his beloved, Brittany Upsnott, was make dinner for them both. He has more cooking points, and Brittany definitely appreciated not having to cook.

Not that much cooking is involved when making a salad.

Anyway, after that, Erik was nominated as the household's cook.




"Erik! Why are you just standing there?!"

Honestly, if I hadn't installed a fire alarm, we probably would have lost Erik right here. Awkward - the household cook almost burned himself and the house.




And here's a fun fact - the fire fighter looks like Jared! Well, other than his eye and hair colour. But the jaw! And the ears! And the nose!

I still don't see Jared as a fire fighter, but I thought it was pretty cool.




Anyway, Brittany and Erik wasted no time, and decided to hold the wedding of their dreams that day.

This is only the second wedding of the Sim State guys - Jane and Martin didn't have room for anything this large. But here's your warning - there's a bunch of weddings this rotation!




I'm still happy these two got together.

They're so good together!




"Cute wedding, but I have to go now,"

Ty Bubbler clearly has no patience for weddings. And yet, by the time the ceremony had ended...




He was back in his seat.

"Why is everyone standing up?"

And no, I don't have any idea who that guy next to Jared is. Or why Jared opted to sit next to him, rather than his wife-to-be.




Anyway, Brittany took Erik's name.

Because awhile ago, when I was mulling over who would take whose surname, someone pointed out that any kid with the surname Upsnott would be teased mercilessly forever.

So, congratulations to Mr and Mrs Swain!




After that, the real party could begin!

Most of the guests disappeared into the house, actually. But Ashley and Heather were up for a dance.

Speaking of Ashley and Heather...




Contrary to how both of them behaved during their own update, they were inseparable at the Swain's wedding. Typical, no?

Also, when I saw them dance like this, I automatically thought of Dirty Dancing. Probably because I'd watched it the same day. Just a little fact I thought I'd share.




Anyway, not long after the wedding, Brittany starts showing signs of motherhood.

Which I was thinking about a lot, actually. Like, how in the sims, they graduate university and pretty much get married and have babies straightaway. None of the guys I knew who graduated last year - including my partner, Rob - have done either of those things.

So that got me thinking about the alternatives that the sims could get up to. So, yeah, you might see some of those later on.




Anyway, the couple are excited for their baby.

Also, I just noticed they're wearing matching colours!



Oh, and if you're wondering why the update is a little jumpy, it's because this is all Erik and Brittany did when I left them to it.

Hopefully, when the baby is born, there'll be more to look at.




Anyway, towards the end of the week, Jared came over. He'd been walking around outside, so Erik invited him in.

Jared promptly sat down at the computer, and started blogging about sports. I had no idea that Jared was even interested in sports.




Jared did eventually get off the computer, though.

"Hey, I have to make sure no one forgets about me!"

Jared's household is right at the end of the rotation, so I guess he just wants to make sure everyone knows he's still about. I will say, this is not the last time we'll see him before we get to his house.




Anyway, this update isn't about Jared.

It's about Brittany's bump! I'm so excited!




Brittany gave birth to a little boy, who was named Declan.

So far, he looks completely like his Dad.




And like the only other parents in the neighbourhood - Jane and Martin Ruben - Brittany goes out to work while Erik stays home with the baby. Maybe there's a pattern or tradition brewing here - women earning the money!

Brittany's on her way to becoming Captain Hero, while Erik's desirable job hasn't shown up yet, so he'll just have to wait awhile. I did have this rule where the sims could only take a job if it was there LTW job - but I accidentally broke that when I forgot that's what I'd decided while playing Kevin Beare. Oh well.




Anyway, Britt's busy schedule meant she was actually at work when Declan's birthday rolled around.

Also, I ended up playing the Swains for an extra sim-hour just so I could see what Dec looked like!




Look at him! He's so adorable!

At this point, I think he takes mostly after Erik. But we shall see.
