Henstead Island: Winter with the Strange Family

At the end of the first rotation, I decided to add a new family to Henstead - they'll be the last addition I make, as the population is getting ready to boom and the island is only small.

Anyway, meet Heather (who came from lesyasun) and Vaughn (one of my good genes results), newlyweds intent on seeing the world! They're Knowledge sims, and surely that means their inquisitive nature means lots of exploring, right?

Well, winter began with Vaughn digging in his pants. Because what else are you supposed to do after breaking in the new bed?

Holidays abroad don't pay for themselves.




A small collection of vases, bones and rocks later, and the next morning it's time to jet off to Twikkii Island!

A tropical vacation is the best way to fight the winter blues, right?






Heather and Vaughn went for the cheapest hotel they could find, but it's still not really...cheap. So I set Vaughn up for MORE digging so they can pay the hotel bills.

It's only afterwards I discover I can't sell the contents of his inventory whilst on holiday. Crap.




Oh, and Heather was very helpful, as you can see.






After Vaughn had cleaned himself up post-digging, and by the time they'd walked to the beach, night had fallen, and the couple had pretty much wasted the whole of their first day.Worth every penny my butt.

Still, they managed to get some pineapple surprise and the pirate ship in before heading back.




And that's how Henstead Island was infected with the Hang Loose gesture.

Seriously, it's going to be around for generations to come.




The second day of their holiday went a little better than the first. For starters, they were out before sunset.

And I got to take pretty pictures!




Pretty sure you all recognise this guy and know what's coming next.

But Heather's going for all of the vacation mementos, which means doing ALL the things!




"Sir, we wandered off the trail and need directions...sir?"

"Fix all of my electronic doodads, and you shall have directions."

"Why does a hut in the middle of nowhere have a dish washer?"




Heather and Vaughn have three Mechanical points each (I had them study on the day before they jetted off!) so it wasn't too much trouble - but I was still holding my breath when it came to electric shocks.

I don't really want to lose either of these guys on what is supposed to be the trip of a lifetime.




Teamwork won the day - Vaughn smacking the taps with a spanner and Heather mopping up the mess he was making.

It didn't take as long as I thought it would.




Unfortunately, once they were finished, the Witch Doctor was nowhere to be found, so the couple started making out on his couch.

He won't mind too much, will he?




"I heard a lullaby. Did you two just conceive your first born on my couch?"

They did indeed. I wasn't planning on these two having kids until AFTER their adventures abroad, but ACR had other ideas.




"Hooray, you made new life on my sofa! Let's dance to celebrate!"

The Witch Doctor took it all surprisingly well.




And he taught the couple how to hula.

Well. Heather learnt how to do it, anyway. Vaughn could use a little more practise.




I'm sure there have been jokes before about where he's positioned that box, but it still popped into my head when I saw the screencap afterwards.

I'm not going to make that joke. Just enjoy the picture of it instead!






A pregnant lady should probably avoid playing with fire, but Heather is fearless.

And they probably shouldn't have paid for her to learn that, as they now can't afford their hotel bill.




Not that either of them care.

I don't know, take a sim on a tropical vacation and he'd rather stay in the tub pretending to be somewhere tropical!

The hotel were kind enough to add their bill to the household bills for when the couple get back - which I had no idea was how it worked! Not particularly upsetting either, as Vaughn has an inventory full of stuff to sell.




Back on Henstead Island, and it's time for Heather to meet the neighbours and bore them with the details of their trip.

And apparently, that outerwear is extremely fashionable. Samantha Ottomas also has it.




Heather is finally showing signs of that baby conceived on the Witch Doctor's sofa.

It took so long for her to pop I was worried I'd misheard the lullaby.




"So you're pregnant and our house is full of strangers."

"Sam and Marigold are my friends. I don't know who that lady you brought home from work is."

Seriously, Priya Ramaswami follows everyone home. Probably punishing me for leaving her in the sim bin.




The next day, and apparently the Stranges had impressed the gypsies enough to gain a genie lamp. I'm really, really not sure how this genie lamp business is supposed to work!

Either way, it was quite clear what they should wish for...




A bag of money! That baby needs somewhere to sleep!

I thought there would only be one bag, which put them at just over $10,000, which was plenty, but then two or three more bags showed up over the course of the evening, and now the Stranges are financially stable.




As demonstrated by the presence of a maid - not just ANYONE can have a maid, guys. The Gleefuls can't really afford it, anyway.

Oh, right. And the baby decided to make an appearance, too.




Heather gave birth to a little girl, who was named Susan. She's got brown hair (Heather is a brunette under that purple), and I forgot to check her eye colour.




Despite the fact that neither Heather nor Vaughn are family sims, and neither of them got a massive aspiration boost for her birth, they both adore little Susan.




And that's where winter ended for these guys - quite a successful season for them, if you ask me!

Just the uni update to post, and then we'll be on to Spring! :D
