INDEX

Every update I post is a reminder of how close I am to generation ten. I’m so close to the end I can taste it! But first, let’s continue watching generation 8 grow up.

Last time, there was a few birthdays, followed by the deaths of Arrietty and Jairo, the power couple of generation six. Marina joined the teenage club, partied hard, and developed a crush on childhood friend, Max Villareal. Heath stayed at home getting up to random stuff like yelling at his unicorn and tweeting about being the ignored sibling. Gwen tried talking to her daughter about taking school a little more seriously and not spending all night dancing, only to realise she’d had a similar youth. Marina scored her first kiss with Max, whilst Gwen and Elsa planned to take their kids to the Bluffs for the day.

Let’s continue, shall we?

We join the family on a Saturday morning to find Heath using technology. Again. It seems to be his thing, really.

“Blicbloc is timeless, I love blicbloc.”

“I LOST!”

I’ve never seen a sim cry over losing before, so this is a first.

He cheered up when presented with brightly coloured cereal, though.

“I can’t wait to simstagram this!”

To each their own, right?

With no school to worry about, it was off to the Bluffs for family time.

Gwen and Elsa have a bit of a soft spot for the Bluffs, as it’s where romance bloomed for them. Many hours were spent cutting school and such in the Bluffs.

“Mum, why are we here? I have no signal, this is awful.”

“Heath, we’re here for family time. Your Mama and I used to come here all the time.”

“Wifi didn't exist when you were kids?”

“Not quite the reaction we were going for, Gwen.”

“Hush, Elsa. He’ll enjoy himself in a bit. Hey…I have an idea…”

“Is it something to do with that hedge over there? Because I was thinking the same thing…”

Coincidentally, Elsa and Gwen both had the same idea.

And the kids? Well…

“Let’s hug over here, far away from that noisy hedge!”

“Why? That bush is making weird sounds, shouldn’t we check it out?”

“Absolutely not.”

“Do you think the kids noticed we were gone, Gwen?”

“Nah, too busy looking for a phone signal, I reckon.”

After romantic antics in the bushes, it was time for swimming, and Gwen to prove she was the master at diving, apparently.

“BOW BEFORE ME!”

She belly-flopped into the water, which didn’t look too comfortable.

“Eh, I give it an eight out of ten, Gwen. Could’ve held your form better.”

Marina looked at Elsa, “Mama, why are we here, really?”

“We genuinely wanted you guys to see where we spent time.”

“I’m probably also supposed to deliver the Angry Mama Speech about how you shouldn’t skip school and stuff, but I’m guessing your Mum already did that.”

“She skipped the angry part.”

“Yeah, well, we’re both a little soft on you kids, I think.”

“Look at it this way, Marina, you’re going to do what you want, regardless of what your Mum and I tell you. And that’s fine, you’ve always been like that. You think I don’t know your first visit to a bar was as a kid?”

“I thought only Erica knew about that.”

“Yeah, you guys are not as secretive as you think. But I think it’s okay, Marina. I have faith in you and your brother to make good decisions. Besides, we have to make some mistakes in life. It’s necessary.”

While Marina and her Mama continued their conversation, Heath found a way to entertain himself that wasn’t trying to upload pictures of the Bluffs with filters slapped on them.

As for Gwen? Well, after her less than perfect dive, she’d found something else to do.

Take an uncomfortable nap on a rock bench!

Some things never change in this family.

Back at the house, and Erica stopped by for a random visit.

She’s pretty close to Marina after hanging out with her so much.

It seemed, however, that she was over to see her sister this time, which I thought was strange. Due to the age gap between them, Gwen and Erica sadly don’t know each other too well.

Erica wasn’t able to stay long, either, as the entire family needed sleep after their day down the Bluffs.

Gwen and Elsa decided to prove they’re the closest couple EVER by sleeping on the same side of the bed.

It wasn’t fun to look at, and I’m glad Elsa got up fairly quickly.

That night, Max Villareal invited Marina out to a coffee shop in Windenburg. Which I thought was insanely cute.

It was still really cute when Elsa wandered in, wearing her PJs, looking for this boy that had been keeping her daughter out so late.

Meddling parents, right? J

“Who’s that lady in the PJs?”

“My mother.”

Marina was less happy to see her mother than I was, to say the least.

At some point, Elsa changed into her clothes, ordered a coffee, and headed out into the night, content with her findings.

“He seems like a nice lad from what I saw.”

“So let me get this straight, they were okay with you skipping school?”

“Yeah. Not really rebelling, is it, when they let you break the rules.”

“That’s totally awesome! I mean, we should study, I guess, it’s important, but still!”

“I know. They’re okay with me dating you, too.”

“Good, because I don’t plan on letting you go.”

“I’m good with that.”

The next day, and it’s time for cake again.

I don’t know about you, but eight generations in and I’m sick of seeing cake. I need to make someone study cooking long enough that we can at least have different cakes to look at.

Heath grew into a handsome young guy aiming to be a bestselling author one day. He also added the ‘slob’ trait to his existing trait of ‘insider’ – slob seems to be one that comes up fairly often for me.

“This is the best! I HAVE to tweet about it! Now!”

“Really, Heath? You couldn’t wait two more minutes for a slice of cake?”

“Cereal is the best, ‘sis. My followers love it.”

“Your followers are weird.”

It’s also time for Marina’s adult birthday. We’re so close to generation nine!

As you know, there aren’t really any changes between the teen and adult life stages, so Marina looks almost exactly the same. The only difference is I swapped out her leather jacket and tiny shorts for a black dress, and Marina got a couple of tattoos.

She added the ‘hot-headed’ trait to her existing collection of ‘lazy’ and ‘materialistic’.

And while all this was happening, Elsa was working on her diving.

Like Gwen at the Bluffs, she could probably do with more practise. It really can't be comfortable hitting the water like that.

So what does Heath do with his new freedom?

Play blicbloc of course.

“I told you, timeless.”

Well, it was probably about time Heath left the house, and so it’s off to the Bluffs again!

“How much lighter fluid is too much lighter fluid?”

I had him join the teenage club his family ALWAYS joins, I’m so predictable. But maybe Gwen and Elsa’s family trip had inspired Heath to give the club a new hang out.

“Dude, why aren’t we at the Ruins? The Ruins is where it’s AT!”

The club seemed a little annoyed to by the new location. Maybe it's the extra insects that come when you hang out surrounded by nature.

“The Ruins are played out, bro. The Bluffs are the next big thing, I’m tellin’ you.”

“Well…if you’re sure.”

“Positive!”

“Well, at least there’s room for us to fire dance.”

I can’t remember if I’ve ever seen anyone fire dance. I mean, it’s pretty similar to the glow stick dance, but you know.

Also, that’s Heath’s aunt – Elsa’s ‘older’ sister.

“I’ll take over the fire dancing so you can talk to everyone.”

“Good work.”

It seems just about everybody knows how to fire dance. I later discovered you need to  be level 3 in dance to do so, and after a generation of dance parties with the Rads, these kids must be swimming in dance points.

“Hey, bro, I like your fashion taste!”

“Or lack of it, right?”

“No, seriously! It’s very Goopy GilsCarbo. He’s an icon!”

“And you’re saying I look like him?!”

“You’re not far off!”

Side note, why does Yuki Behr look so annoyed in the background? Is it because she’s adorable and I haven’t married her in at all in the Sims 4 yet?

“This’ll make the Watcher love me!”

I do love you, Yuki, but maybe not for this generation.

Anyway, the afternoon of hanging out and fire dancing drew to a close. The teens clambered back through the long grass to get home, exhausted and happy.

Heath was going to fit right in.

Marina, meanwhile, had been invited out to a bar in Windenburg, with some teenager she’d known.

I guess they hadn’t heard she’d had a birthday.

Due to Marina’s new hot-headed trait, it didn’t take long for Marina to get unreasonably annoyed at a person in the bar.

“That alien didn’t tell me they’re an alien. How could they do this to me?”

Well, a) you don’t know them and b) they’re not even wearing a disguise. How could you not tell?!

It meant Marina was seriously angry, which is no fun for socialising.

That was until Max showed up, and replaced her angry moodlets with happy ones. Hooray for Max!

He’s also an adult now. I thought about having Marina look for someone else, but in the end, these two make me happy J

Besides, I don’t think they’d have it any other way.

Later that night, Heath had napped and eaten after the trip to the Bluffs, and was ready for the next step of Rad teenage tradition – throwing a dance party.

“They’re coming! EEE, I’m so excited!”

Unlike his sister, however, Heath took his enthusiasm to a different part of Windenburg.

Or he will have, if you know, he ever actually goes inside. Sheesh.

“Dammit, I lost six followers!”

Eventually, Heath made it to the dance floor and set about having the time of his life.

Instead of those tired, old Ruins everyone else visited, Heath threw his dance party at the most modern joint in town, a club right on the water’s edge.

His party also attracted the attention of Windenburg’s most famous partiers, as well as his teenage club.

“Oh man, he’s so cute it hurts.”

And also, way too old for you.

“So, hey, isn’t this just the most happening place in Windenburg right now? I’m Heath, by the way, I threw this party.”

“I’m Paolo. Good work on the party, kid.”

Heath set about making friends with Paolo, just in case opportunities arose in adulthood. He pretty much ignored the other guests, although there was one who wasn’t as willing to be ignored.

“Hi! I’m Joaquin LeChien!”

“Hi! I’m Joaquin LeChien!”

“Pay attention to me!”

The night was a roaring success, and ended with Heath having a few more contacts than he’d started with.

“Hey, aren’t you underage?”

I think that’s where will end this update. I will have an heir poll for these two up later today (hopefully).

See you all soon!
