The Wrongway Legacy: Gen 5, Part 1
Oct. 2nd, 2011 05:23 pmI would recommend reading the chapter before you click the LJ cut, because I consider this to be a sort of behind-the-scenes type thing. Under the cut is all of the pictures, outtakes, and random thought I have on the Megahood shooting I did for this update. Enjoy!
Right, I used a lot of pictures for the first five slides of this update, and the way the slides were laid out, you couldn't really get a decent look at many of them. Of course, there were also pictures I left out, so I figured I might as well share them all. These were from Maddie's time running around in the Megahood, where 90% of this update took place.
Strangetown
Strangetown was the first 'hood I picked on to play around with, mostly because I already had an idea of what I wanted. I knew I wanted to have a picture, or multiple pictures, of Maddie with all of the Singles girls. Strangetown also had the most pictures/outtakes.

This is my favourite shot of all time. Purely because it looks so much like some of the picture I have from nights out, where everyone just crams together for the one picture. I had a lot of fun dressing each of the Singles girls up for a night on the town, and deciding what they would drink.
Maddie definitely struck me as the kind of girl who would have a beer bottle. :P
I also love the fact you can't see any of Maddie's tattoos in this shot, despite the fact she had them, so it looks like she picks them up on her travels.

This was the next shot I did. I wanted one of Maddie and her room mates when they weren't out drinking, and this was a lot harder. I had to try and portray the fact that they are in Strangetown. I did consider having the Will Wright Head Rock Thing in the background, but it didn't look so great.
Kristen's hair bothers me in this shot - due to my choices, it looks like her hair has grown a lot in between the two shots. Which I suppose is possible, but it wasn't intentional.
As I mentioned, only one of Maddie's tattoos is visible. I'm calling that her first tattoo.

Maddie and Pascal never actually happened, and I'm not even sure if they had bolts. I just wanted Maddie to have some boyfriends in the storyline before I settle her down with her spouse. So I staged this relationship completely, though I had a lot of fun with it, thinking about what kind of couple they would make.

This shot didn't get used because I don't like it. Not sure why, I just don't like it.

When I was done shooting all of the various pictures, I came back to Strangetown specifically for this shot. I didn't feel I had enough pictures for Strangetown's letter to Lee, and so I thought a lot about how I could take some more shots and decided I wanted one of Maddie and the Curious brothers.
That's when I got the idea of having them spend the night in the Specter graveyard and I couldn't let it go! So out came the torches, and everything. I had a lot of fun with this shot.
And of course Lazlo is a Monty Python fan. He seems less serious about science than his brothers, and I wanted that in the shot. He's the more open-minded of the brothers, so in my head, the ghost-hunting trip was his idea - Vidcund doesn't believe in ghosts and Pascal was just cool with whatever they were doing that night.
Another thing I only just noticed, Maddie's arm is slicing into Pascal's! How did I not see that before?

The last shot from Strangetown, and another shot that didn't get used. Again, simply because I didn't like it.
Pleasantview
The next 'hood I shot in was Pleasantview, and it was very difficult not to set it up like I did for my turn of the RRL, back in January! I kept the small town feel where everyone-knows-everyone, which I came up with in the RRL, simply because I love it.

This is my favourite picture to some out of the Pleasantview shoots. I love Don, anyway, but I had so much fun setting this up I almost changed my plot so I could have him in the storyline.
You can also see Maddie's wrist tattoo in this, which is what I've now nicknamed her second tattoo. They're all one overlay, but in my head, Maddie has a set order in which she gets them. The wrist is from Pleasantview.

Didn't include this one because I didn't like it. Not sure what's wrong with it, maybe it's the lighting or whatever, but for some reason, I hated this shot.

Again, I got Maddie to lodge with some of the girls in the 'hood. Dina and Nina are a lot like the Singles, at least in my mind - young, independent and not exactly in committed relationships. While I suppose technically there is no room for Maddie to stay in the Caliente house, I had a lot of fun thinking of all of the things the girls would get up to. Mostly gossiping about Don, I decided.
And Maddie's third tattoo was visible from here on out.

Another shot that didn't make it into the finals was this one. I think it's mainly the lighting and Maddie's hair that ruin this shot for me. Otherwise I might have kept it.

The party! Everyone in Pleasantview was there, as well as Julien Cooke and Cyd Roseland. In my Megahood, them two live in Pleasantview anyway, so I just kind of invited them along.
I wasn't originally going to include this shot, but Cassandra's expression was priceless. She was actually talking to Cyd here, and you can see Cyd still in place in the background, though it looks like he's talking to someone else or the wall.
Naturally, Dina photobombed the pic by accident.

And Julien photobombed this one on purpose! I thought about having Cyd in there as well, just to roll his eyes at Julien, but I don't know if you guys knew about the Maxis Taste dare I did with Cyd and Julien, which kind of seems necessary for Cyd to be in this one.
Also, Nina and Don. If for some reason I couldn't have Don and Cassandra together, they would be my second choice.

Speaking of Cassandra, she's an awkward one to place at parties. I think she's a bit younger than Nina and Dina, but I'm not sure. I still think she would get along well with them if she hadn't been brought up innocent/socially-awkward. And I don't think Cassandra would ever be close to Maddie, either.
Also, all of these 'group shots' are staged so they look like photos she's sending to Lee, to prove she's exploring the world and enjoying herself.
That's all of the Pleasantview shots. I'm pretty sure I must have taken more of the party, but I can't find them.
Riverblossom Hills
I enjoyed shooting in Riverblossom! Maddie's never really known winter before, so it was great to get her into some warmer-looking clothing for a change. That, and I adore Riverblossom, ever since I took a peek round it after Beth started her turn of the RRL.

Leod <3
Anyway, Maddie got a blue shirt here, even though her colour scheme I tried to stick to on the whole is green. I have that shirt in a variety of colours, but not a shade of green that I liked. Blue was the closest thing, and I picked that because it sort of matched the shirt I hadpicked for Leod.
Maddie also got to have her hair down and not straightened whilst in Riverblossom, because it's not exactly a place where fashion thrives.

I would have kept these two together had the chemistry been better. I can't even remember whether the chemistry was one or two bolts, but it doesn't matter now.
Originally, I was playing a game in my head to see if I could find Maddie a boyfriend in every 'hood, not even caring about chemistry at that point, but I ran out of ideas for that after Riverblossom Hills.
If I hadn't thought of having Maddie stay with Alex O'Mackey whilst in Riverblossom, Maddie would have lodged with Leod.

I love the Greenman lot! The tree in the house was awesome, and I wanted it in the background of the shot. I couldn't think of a way to fit Rose into the actual writing in Maddie's letter to Lee, so Rose got to be some of the 'odd locals' Maddie referred to.
And I loved styling them both for this shot, too.

It's not a trip to Riverblossom without the company of my favourite Dread Pirate, Alex O'Mackey. I think of this picture as being taken in the early spring, just before Maddie is ready to hit the road again - I'm thinking she stayed in Riverblossom for winter and left after that, but this is the only time I even considered how long she was staying in all of these 'hoods.
Belladonna Cove
This was one of the hardest 'hoods for me to set up, because I've got stuff happening there later in the plot. So I just picked some sims that aren't involved later for Maddie to live with - Gabriel and Chastity.

This shot is awkward-looking, but included because I only took three shots overall in Belladonna. If I'd zoomed out, like I wanted to, Gabriel's hand would have been awkwardly placed, and I was too lazy to mess around and find a different pose.
Although you've not seen this tattoo yet, Maddie has one on her lower back, which I've decided is a tattoo that Chastity talked her into getting.

I do think it must have been awkward for Maddie to live there, because Chastity and Gabriel abused ACR in the brief time I spent on the lot. I've never had Gabriel and Chastity get together before, either - Gabriel is normally with Samantha Cordial in my game. Ah well.

I think Chastity and Maddie would have gotten close in the time Maddie was in Belladonna Cove, because they're quite a bit alike in my mind - bold, brave, strong and they don't take crap from anyone.
Chastity is definitely one of the people I see Maddie keeping in touch with, but who knows.
Veronaville
I struggled with Veronaville! Because so many of the noteworthy sims in Veronaville are either teenagers, or at war with each other so Maddie can't really hang out with both sides. That meant getting her in with the peacemakers...

The Summerdreams! Woo!
These two were more than happy to welcome Maddie into their lives as well as there home. To be fair, I'm pretty sure the Summerdreams have the room for lodgers, so it's all good.
Plus Oberon and Titania have an open relationship in my Megahood, so a little experimentation wouldn't bother either of them ;D
Though I didn't have Maddie get involved with either of them - I see Oberon more as a father figure for her, anyway. Not sure why.

The focus in Veronaville was always going to be on the arts - visual, theatre, poetry. So that's why I took this shot. That, and it gave me a chance to use those dresses I downloaded but haven't used yet >_<
I wish I'd staged a play, just so I'd have some more pictures from Veronaville, but it didn't even cross my mind at the time of shooting.

And this is the last of the Veronaville shots. An open mic night at a café. Although I'd set this up in the house Bianca (I think that's her name?) and Kent share. Even though I've seen Kent portrayed as gay a lot of the time, I can only see him with Bianca. He also doesn't drink alcohol, he's strictly a coffee drinker. Meanwhile, Maddie can't stand coffee after trying it with the Singles girls back in Strangetown.
So that's that! I haven't staged anything like this in Bluewater Village or Desiderata, because they're a focus of the plot right now. The Megahood trip was because I dropped a copy of Maddie into the Megahood when I first downloaded it, just to play around, and some of the stuff she got up to is going to come up in a later chapter (albeit in a plottier disguise).
