Ruben: Stay At Home Parent
Hello again!
I've just started playing through the rotation for all of my graduates, and rather than wait until the end and upload the stories - because there are more households in the rotation than ever before - I decided to upload them a household at a time.
Which is going to be interesting, because more happens to some households more than it does to others!
But ah well. Enjoy!

We join Martin Ruben and his heavily pregnant wife-to-be, Jane Stacks, in their bedroom.
"You know, I've been thinking, Jane, we don't really have enough space to hold an outdoor wedding..."

"...So let's get married right away!"
"Well, I may be a family sim, but marriage is marriage!"

Jane took Martin's name, but I can't remember why I decided that. And seeing as I planned for Joshua to also keep his surname, there's going to be two branches of the Ruben family in Peach Bay.
Thinking now, maybe I should have had Martin take Jane's surname. Oh well.

Martin's lifetime want is to become a media magnate, but it's proving hard for Martin to find an opening in Journalism.
So until then, he's not having a job - Jane makes enough money to pay the bills.

Jane also managed to set fire to the kitchen. But, luckily, I'd remembered to put in a fire alarm, so all was well.

This is a lot less dramatic than Sim State. Domestic bliss!
I'm sure there's some drama waiting to happen in some of the other households.

I'm quite happy that Martin chose Jane over Allegra, because they're so adorable together.
That said, Allegra and Martin haven't been together for quite awhile now.

Another day, and still no Journalism openings.
So another day for Martin to waste.

Luckily, there was something to do all day - Jane went into labour!
I am so excited for this kid!

Maybe Martin can be the stay-at-home Dad! Seeing as Jane is this close to reaching the top of the Medical career track.

By the time the baby arrives, Martin has lost interest.
Also, the baby appeared to be invisible. That's an odd glitch I've not had before.

It's a girl!
Everyone, this is the first born of Project Sim State, Emily Ruben.

Emily's arrival means Martin is suddenly not so bothered by the lack of a job.
I wonder why sims feel the need to constantly feed the baby and so on.

On the same day, Jane goes back to work. Because she's some sort of super woman.
I don't remember if she was promoted or anything.

Of course, once Jane leaves for work, Martin promptly puts his daughter on the kitchen floor and watches tv.
Because that's totally good parenting!

Anyway, it wasn't long until Emily's birthday arrived.
Doesn't everyone look excited?!

Look how adorable she is!
At the minute, she looks mostly like Jane, though those might be Martin's eyes.
And I have no idea about that chin. Hopefully it becomes slightly less peculiar as she grows.

Once Emily was in bed, the couple found themselves with some alone time for the first time in awhile. I mean, before Emily, Martin was at uni and Jane was at work. Hmm, married life really isn't what these two expected.
"I still can't find the job I want,"
"Don't worry, I'll get another bonus and we'll use that to extend the house for Emily's room,"

Although it's not what he wanted, Martin's not complaining that he's been left at home with Emily.
The pair of them adore each other, and Martin teaches Emily pretty much all of her toddler skills.
Not sure about potty training - I can't remember if she learnt that or not.

Even with a toddler to take care of, Martin still found time to go outside and get too cold.
Probably from stargazing with Jane - couples seem to do that a LOT autonomously in my 'hood.

Soon enough, Emily's birthday rolls around - super excited!

She's so adorable!
I really have no idea with that chin, but she's great!

And with Emily's child birthday meant Jane and Martin built an extension to put her new bedroom in.
Emily took great delight in exploring her new toy box.

Downstairs - because Jane and Martin's bedroom is on the first floor, while Emily's bedroom is on the second floor - the couple attempt to make Emily a sibling.
I can't remember if they were successful - so I guess we'll have to wait and see!

I'd like to see the next sibling get some more of Martin's genes.
I mean, Emily is great, but I'd like one of the kids to get Martin's nose. Just because Martin has some pretty neat genes - and I want to know if fixing his face worked.

Anyway, here she is on her first day of school!
And that's it from the Rubens this week. Next up is the Pitts family, when I eventually get round to writing it up.
Hope you're having a good week!
