Sims 3 Has Grabbed Me Again
Oct. 28th, 2013 08:27 pmI got 22/25 marks on my first test at college, which results in a Distinction, and I also had the highest marks in the class - so I figured, I deserved a treat. The fact I had just been paid, and needed to go get birthday cards and stuff for Rob was also a massive excuse to go near the game shop today.
I now own Sims 3: Into the Future!
I was so excited for this expansion, because TIME TRAVEL!
So I immediately loaded up TS3, and opened my favourite family, the Summers, the multi-generational family I play a fair amount, and sent Jack to the Future.
When I opened the screenshots folder, I realised I hadn't shared any of Jack's Uni Days either - so you guys get double the spam of my favourite TS3 family! Hooray!
First, a quick reminder of who's who:

I made Evelyn to explore the game with, back when I first got Seasons, only I got hooked on playing her, and her family. She married Grady, had five kids - Jade, Felix, Louie, Robert & Lucy. Felix became the heir, the others didn't get up to much with story progression. Also, because Evelyn and Grady were both supernaturals, almost everyone descended from them is also supernatural.
Felix (a fairy) married a woman he met online, Janet (a werewolf), who apparently had a husband and kids before Felix. Oops, my bad. They had two kids - Muriel and Vincent. Felix then had a midlife crisis, divorced Janet and married his tattoo artist, Erin. They had a daughter, named Ebony.
Muriel (a fairy) married her prom date, Elisha, who was also a vampire. They hadfive six kids - Skye, Jack, Francis, Kayleigh and Emily. Jack was time child who was accidentally conceived in the past. The sixth child, whose name I forgot because he moved out instantly and I like to pretend it never happened, is a time child Muriel and Elisha had in the future. He didn't survive the rebuild, but all of the other Summers did.
Which brings us up to the present - Jack's uni days!

And I don't have a lot of pictures to show of him at uni, really. Jack was a virtuso, and already maxed skills in most instruments and art, so his degree course didn't take quite so much work.
Anyway, this is his girlfriend, Margaret Cade.

Jack spent a lot of time partying with his best friend, Eddy. The pair are such good friends they even made out when juiced at a kegger. Jack did have a load of friends at uni, but Eddy - and a plantsim named Shea - were his favourites.

Margaret would like everyone to know she loves Jack, okay?
Also, I think Margaret is really pretty.

Once Jack had graduated and got himself a degree in Fine Arts, you'd think he would have ended up in a related career.
Nope, when Jack graduated, I got Showtime for cheap in a sale at my local game shop, and as part of exploring that ep, Jack went into the acrobat career. Apparently, that includes mime.

Apparently, inviting people over from university is sort of similar to inviting vacation townies over in TS2 - they stay for ages. Jack had nowhere near enough beds for all of his friends to sleep in, so I had to get the reason I invited them all over out of the way...

Jack's wedding! Because all of his uni friends should be there!

Then followed the most casual wedding ever - in the rain.
Seriously, I expected people to change into their formalwear to watch, like in TS2, but all of them just wore there ordinary clothes. Even Margaret and Jack - and Margaret's not even wearing shoes!

The girls teared up, smiled, sighed deeply and happily. Getting married in your jeans, in the rain, is so beautiful.

The guys didn't seem that bothered. In fact, Eddy looked a little disappointed.
"No more late nights partying? Booo."

He cheered up and did clap for the couple.

Playing an acrobat was fun, too.
I mean, Jack is fourth generation so the family is loaded by this point, so no one actually needs to work, this was all just a fun experiment.
However, it did mean I spent hardly any time back at the house...

Which Margaret didn't seem too happy about. She was basically being ignored, while pregnant.
Sims 3 Sims can pretty much take care of themselves, I don't need to hover over them constantly!
Then I made the mistake of switching households so I could check something at Jack's parent's place, and Margaret went into labour...

So I didn't get to name Jack and Margaret's daughter. Which is fine, I didn't get to name Jack afterall. He was a time child, and came with his name.
Story Progression named their daughter Patrice. I wasn't so keen on it at first, but I'm gradually growing to like it.

More acrobat adventures, this time with fire and swords.
And while I was playing this, winter seemed to last FOREVER.

"I'm still being ignored!"
"But honey, I'm home from my job that the Creator keeps opting to look at instead of you, it's all eyes on you now!"
"Because I'm holding the baby that is about to grow up. That's all."
Margaret never really gets up to much anyway.

Patrice is a cutie. Though I remember none of her traits apart from Evil.

After Patrice was born, I started moving Jack into science a bit more - mostly in an attempt to either get him abducted or turned into a plantsim. Because I still have no idea how that is done, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with that science-y machine that came with University Life.
So he's been playing with that and the telescope, until one night, the aliens came...

The aliens abducted the wrong person.
Margaret wasn't even near the telescope, she just came out to see what all the noise was about and they took her instead of Jack. So no alien babies.
Just my luck!

Patrice's toddler years passed quickly and without anything interesting happening. Mostly because, again, I was focusing on Jack's career as an acrobat.

Patrice's evil trait started to show more once she'd grown into a child.

She even looks evil riding her rocking horse.
"Onwards, Binky!"

I also started getting Patrice into science. Because it seemed like a neat thing to do with an evil sim.
Also, if you start them early with skills, they'll have a head start when they get to university, if they want to go.

Meanwhile, Jack learnt to tie himself in knots. Which does not look comfortable.
I'm thinking of making him give up the acrobat career and go for a normal job.

And despite the fact Jack was rarely at home for his daughter's toddlerhood, they've bonded really well since she grew up.
Watching TV, pulling faces, playing, they're really close now. Which I love.

Now here's the part really wanted to show off - Time Travelling!
It seemed like the best and coolest thing to do with a Time Child, even though Jack was from the past, not the future.

"Hmm. What a peculiar looking device."

"Hi there, I'm from the Future."
"Neat!"

"You, too, can come to the Future, with this little thing."

"Yeah, yeah. Right after I finish my snowman."
Jack has his priorities straight.

Oasis Landing!
It looks neat - I expected it to be a lot like that other sci-fi type neighbourhood they were selling in the store (the name escapes me at the moment) but I totally love it. All curves and matching and floating screens!

"Hooray, it's not snowing!"
That was the first thing I noticed. Mostly because it seems like Sunset Valley has been stuck in eternal winter.

"Welcome to the future, where you, too, can have a glowing tuxedo."
"Sounds good to me,"
"Your descendants live at this really specific address. 511 or something. It's in the little cove at the top of town."

Oh, really? Jack's descendants live in a shack in the mountains?!

Oh. Turns out that shack was just the shed in the garden or something, and these people live in the house in the front. Which looks fairly big. Not futuristic and space-y, but fairly big.

Wow, they look a lot like Jack! Just not purple!
I've forgotten his name.

No, I don't remember any of their names. But the kid and the adults look a lot like the Summers family.

"Hi! I'm a time traveler from the past!"
"What, really? I don't know why this is so surprising to me, we have time travel and hoverboards and robots and all other kinds of technology."

"Let's capture this moment forever!"
I have no idea what this woman is in relation to the other people who live here.

While he's visiting the future, Jack may as well dress to blend in. I think he looks quite handsome in his futuristic gear.

Did I mention jetpacks are cool?
And so is sunset, but that's not a future thing, just a general thing.

Mandatory night shots of how pretty Oasis Landing is. I do like taking a lot of night shots.
If I upped my graphics, it would probably glow a little better.

Robots. Robots!
They're all so cool! And there's so many, they all look a little different, I love it!

Technology! No, I have no idea what any of it does, why do you ask?
I'm looking forward to fiddling with it more later.

Seeing as the family has plenty of money, I had him buy a robot. I didn't get to name it, and so the robot is called Rock 'Em. No, I have no idea.
I didn't know if Rock 'Em would come back to the present with Jack or not.

"Ugh. Winter. And the present."
Apparently returning is a little rougher than the trip to the future.

And Rock 'Em came back too! So Jack and his family have someone to help them out around the house - which will be useful, because I'm planning on moving the family to a different neighbourhood soon.
That's all I've got at the minute. I'm very excited to play some more, so I'll probably have more to show off soon.
