Making a Start

beanstalk_simsSo one of my simming resolutions this year was to start a prosperity. And now that my college work is pretty much done, I can play a little bit - I still have drafts to edit and so on, but on the whole, it's mostly done.
So here's what I've got so far:
I took some of my favourite houses from premade 'hoods and shoved them in the lot bin, so that I didn't have to build. I have to be in the mood to build houses, and I just wanted to get started last night. I prefer editing houses to building them, anyway.
And the whole thing is set on a terrain I made! :D I finally figured it out, after fiddling with SC4 for a couple of months. This terrain is called Rubix :P
I rolled two families:
This is Richard Cooper. He's a self-acclaimed bad boy, all about living for the moment.
Only he's got a couple of things tying him down...
Emily and Dylan had to go live with their father when their mother died, and Emily's not convinced he knows what he's doing. Dylan's too young to know either way.
The Coopers live here:
I will have to alter it a little bit when Dylan ages up, as I want him to have his own room. I'm pretty sure the house originates from Belladonna Cove.
And the other family in my 'hood, which is a LOT bigger:
Jessie and Terry Lagoon have worked hard for forty years in order to provide themselves with enough money to travel the world.
Only life has a funny habit of throwing challenges at you...
Lily Lagoon, and her son Henry, have returned from the city after Lily's attempts at an acting career failed miserably. With no money and no career prospects, Lily figured she'd just move back in with Mum and Dad.
Henry's pretty chilled out, but he hopes to find friends like he did back in the city.
But that's not everyone who lives here...
Jessie's sister Rita, and her husband William, were carefree back in the day. They never planned for retirement, and they certainly never planned for the repo man to show up on their doorstep.
With no money to their name, they've been forced to move in with Jessie's family
And their daughter, Lola, came with them.
With all of these additional mouths to feed, and all of the space needed to house everyone, the Lagoons had to spend Jessie and Terry's retirement fund on a new house...
Which has left them all completely broke!
Seriously, the Lagoons have less than £400 left after buying this rather nice house from Desiderata Valley.

And that's it for now! I might start playing tonight, depends how far I get with my research proposal.
