Back in October 2008, I started my first legacy. I wasn’t new to playing sims, but I was definitely new to the idea of taking pictures, writing plots, etc. After a while, I noticed the poor quality of what I had written and promptly stopped publishing my legacy. However, I didn’t stop playing it, and now I’ve brought it back from the dead…

So, I’m going to reintroduce the first three generations, all of whom have had to be restaged for this photoshoot. Consider this a prologue, of sorts.

Meet Asteroid Galaxy, the founder. Back in the day, I didn’t know how to spell “asteroid” so his name was written “astroid” in my game. He looks like a very basic face two founder, but he has elf ears as well.

While at university, Asteroid met the love of his life in the form of cheerleader, Gina. When he  first met her, she had blonde hair, a dye job that meant I accidentally bred dominant genetics into my legacy by generation two.

And because Gina was a cheerleader, she would roam the hood in a llama costume. I have never been sure why.

Gina and Asteroid were very happy in the early days of their marriage, Gina was seemingly happy to give up her dreams of adventures and romance in faraway places, while Asteroid was more than happy to settle down with a couple of kids.

In the end, Asteroid and Gina had only two children, two sons. The eldest, in the back, was a daredevil, handsome young man named Dragon, who was expected to receive heirship at an early age, after showing interest in skilling.

Dragon’s younger brother, in the front, Merlin, constantly lived in his brother’s shadow. Merlin left home with very few skills, and a strong dislike for his older brother. There was a time in university where Merlin didn’t speak to Dragon, which lasted until Dragon’s eldest was a toddler

Asteroid and Gina did not boast a happy relationship after their sons were born. Gina confessed after Merlin’s birth that she didn’t want anymore children, which conflicted with Asteroid’s wishes for a larger family.

Things worsened between the couple, and Gina eventually had an affair with the maid, Lucy. Once Asteroid found out, the pair of them were presented with two options - divorce, or attempt to patch things up. They chose the later, and were happy together once again

So Dragon took over as heir, largely because he was better suited for the job, and not just because his creator had favourites. He took mostly after his father, but inherited a rather large chin from Gina. The chin is still with us in Galaxy males.

While at university, amongst being ignored by his brother and having various dormies fall for him, Dragon met Dagmar. The pair of them met through a bad makeover, as Dragon had managed to give out several decent makeovers, and fail on the one that really mattered to him.

Dagmar didn’t speak to him for a while, but he was soon able to win her friendship, and eventually her affection

Dragon and Dagmar had three children, two girls and a boy. Melody, back left, was the eldest, and a slightly bizarre child. When she was younger, her career choice was to be a clown, until she grew up and realised she didn’t fit in. Ballad, back right, helped her to change her image and become more normal, but she still didn’t fit in.

Dragon had a heart-to-heart with Melody over the matter, after which she dyed her hair pink and embraced her individuality, while Ballad discovered he had a talent with makeovers. Symphony, in front, was a sweet child who was quiet in comparison to her siblings

The family were happy together, with no noticeable problems. However, Dragon did have a secret he kept from his wife, a secret only Gina knew about

Merlin had married a romance sim named Vivian, a woman who was interested in the eternal fame and glory of a legacy. When Dragon had gently said no to the offer of a date in university, Vivian promptly dated Merlin in an attempt to get closer to Dragon.

During the raising of generation three, Vivian made it plain to Dragon how she felt, and each time he refused to start an affair with her, but was unable to tell Merlin of Vivian’s true colours. In the end, Vivian backed off after falling pregnant with Merlin’s baby, a seldom seen cousin of generation three who was named Mervian

Melody was expected to be heiress for the Galaxy family, but after a drunken affair with the Greek House placeholder, Sean, Melody decided she wasn’t best suited for the role - heirs were not permitted to marry placeholders.

Sean was unable to win Melody’s heart in the early days of university, but after a quick makeover from Ballad and some tips on how to behave well, Sean revealed his sensitive side, and Melody has been by his side ever since

Melody and Sean had one child, a baby girl, who was accidentally named Colin in a mix-up at birth. Even when they found out she was a girl, Colin was happy to keep her name as it was. It seemed that Collie, as she eventually became, had inherited her mother’s sense of individuality

Symphony also assumed the role of a spare, and settled on marrying knowledge sim, Nawwaf. For both of them, it was love at first sight, and after meeting early on in Symphony’s junior year, the pair have never spent a day apart

Symphony and Nawwaf had twin boys, Simon, on the left, and Seth, on the right. Seth was a quiet little boy, who took mostly after his father’s personality, while Simon was the holder of a loud personality, which seemed out of a place in such a quiet happy family

Ballad took heirship when both of his sisters didn’t want it, but he never considered himself right for the role. He was a romance sim who was much happier relaxing on a beach with his latest lady than fathering children, however, he soon found out he loved being a father, and all his worries were put aside

Ballad married Elizabeth, a friend he had known since he was a child (and they’re in front of a blue screen rather than a white backdrop because I fail at continuity).

Elizabeth didn’t want children, and had three really bad pregnancies - she died during the second one and was resurrected by Mervian’s bone phone, with no memories of Ballad. The couple were able to fall in love again quickly, and produce a third child

Neon, Argon and Krypton are the three children of Ballad and Elizabeth. Neon is the outgoing family sim on the left, who no one dared to argue with. She spent her teenage years sneaking out with Collie rather than preparing for university. Argon, while a match of his older sister’s personality, preferred to hide from social occasions, playing guitar for hours on end.

Krypton, the little girl in front, was extremely different from both her siblings, a reserved young lady who spent most of her time gardening with her grandmother, Dagmar

The reign of the third generation was much more peaceful than the two generations before it, even with Elizabeth’s death and resurrection. It was questioned if Argon being to the afterlife before birth would have any long term effect on him, but it seemed he only had a bizarre natural talent for guitar and other creative pursuits.

Ballad also briefly considered an affair while in the far east with his children, but when Neon questioned what Ballad was looking at, in this case, a beautiful local girl, Ballad realised he no longer wanted anyone other than his family

And here’s how the main line of generation four look now, freshly graduated from college. Neon has yet to date anyone seriously, after Collie got her heart broken Neon was scared of commitment, despite her status as a family sim.

Argon fell for a girl he bumped into in the library, Tiffany Grove, and found himself tongue-tied on several occasions when he tried to ask her out. In the end, Simon came to his rescue, by sending Tiffany a love note signed from Argon.

Krypton didn’t meet anyone she connected with, but is hoping to live in the country with a couple of cats while she looks for Mr Right

So if you hadn’t guessed, Argon is our heir. Despite his nature to daydream and appear as if he is in a world of his own, and his natural creativity skills, Argon was announced as heir when Krypton revealed her life plans, and Neon promptly decided she didn’t want anything to do with being tied down and popping out babies

And here is where we are now, at the beginning. Well, the new beginning. And this is also where the ‘prologue’ ends. I’m looking forward to resurrecting my old legacy, after rebuilding their neighbourhood twice and taking a year and a half to play this far.

Thanks for reading, it would have been ready sooner, but livejournal malfunctioned, and feel free to let me know what you think
