Prosperity: Summer - the Rossi family
Mar. 12th, 2014 10:09 pm
I know I only updated yesterday, but I've started playing the next season and I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Plus I really want to get to the end of the Autumn rotation (which I'm currently playing) and graduate Dylan, because I have plans.
So here's the last "proper" family of the summer rotation, after this there's the uni update and then it's time for autumn!
Enjoy!

Henry and Nikki were not as poor as Emily and Gavin when they left the Cooper household, but they still weren't rolling in cash. So their apartment is slightly upmarket of Emily and Gavin's, but it's still just an apartment, with no room for a baby.
And apparently, not many windows. Is it just me, or does it seem to be lacking in windows?
Maybe I put too many windows on my buildings.

So the apartment. Rather neutral and uninteresting, partially furnished, and nowhere near as small as the Newsons's apartment.

Their landlord is the same lady who rents Emily and Gavin their apartment. So far, the only one with a different landlord is Lola - this lady must own half of the rented accommodation in Riverside.
"Why do I get all the young couple?"

Henry had no job, and didn't have an interest in any of the ones listed in the paper. However, Nikki was able to pick up a job straight away. It's the girls who bring home the bacon in Riverside!

"So this is nice, a place of our own, the start of our lives together!" Henry offered, with a smile.
Nikki set down her sandwich, thoughtfully, "We can't be too careful, though. Money's tight."
"It'll be fine!" Henry insisted.

"We may not have the money for next week's rent right now," Henry told her, "But I'll keep looking for a job. We'll be fine, babe. I promise."
Nikki smiled, "And I'll work really hard, to get promotions!"
Henry nodded, "We'll be fine!"

"I'm so glad we're doing this together," Nikki admitted, "I'd be terrified of all of this on my own."
"Relax, Nik," Henry said, breezily, "We'll be fine."

After lunch, Henry set about working off the belly he'd somehow managed to build up. He'd rolled the want to get fit, and in Riverside, generally my sims get what they want.

Nikki, however, got fired on her first day of work.
"I'm really not ready for any of this," She sighed, "We tried to grow up too fast."

Nikki took her dismissal really hard, sobbing all afternoon. There wasn't enough money in the bank for next week's rent, and neither of them were working.
The thought of repo men terrified her.

Nikki tried to clear her head. Once Henry had gone to bed - at a time Nikki considered ridiculously early - Nikki decided to head out. She was young and attractive, and there were plenty of places in Riverside to go for a break.
She had a want panel full of numbered romance wants.

Nikki headed out to a bar, but with no one in the room coming across as interesting, Nikki ended up playing pool by herself.
That was, until Lily - Henry's mother - walked in.

"Everything alright, Nikki?" Lily asked, surprised to see her son's girlfriend out alone.
"Yeah, I just...needed to get away for a bit," Nikki admitted, "I lost my job today."
Lily nodded, "That's rough."

Lily gave a quick look around, "No Henry?"
"No," Nikki shook her head, "He's tucked up in bed at home."
Lily pulled a face, "Listen, Nikki..."

"I'm married to a romance sim," Lily began, carefully, "So I'm pretty familiar with the things they want in life-"
"That's not why I'm here, Lily." Nikki replied, trying to smile, "I really just needed to get away. Anyway, Henry is romance as well."
"I know, I know," Lily said, quickly, "But I couldn't help noticing you're all dressed up and made up in a bar, without your partner around...I couldn't help but wonder..."

"I appreciate your concern," Nikki raised her eyebrows, "But the problem is the money, not love, and even if it was, it's none of your business."
"It's my son, Nikki," Lily stated, in a level tone, "I think that counts as my business."
"Regardless, it's the money," Nikki insisted, "I'm not up to no good."
"Well, I need to get home, Nikki," Lily said, with a warm smile, "See you soon."
Nikki watched her partner's mother disappear, and with a sigh, decided it was also time to head home.
* * * *

With her make-up wiped off, and her dress put away, Nikki jumped into bed. Henry sleepily slipped an arm around his girlfriend.
"Is everything okay?" He asked, quietly, with a yawn.
"Yes," She replied, "Perfect."

After a peculiar evening, the couple woke up with wants to woohoo...and ACR decided it was the perfect time for them to get pregnant.
They're even worse off than the Newsons at this point.

That evening, Nikki and Henry threw a party and invited the whole of Riverside over to their little apartment.
The girls decided it was an excellent excuse to dance. That said, Alix dances all the time anyway.

"I'm worried about them, Richard," Lily admitted, in a small voice, "They're broke and both interested in the typical romance lifestyle."
"Maybe they'll grow out of it," Richard shrugged, "Come on, Lily, they'll work it out. We can't baby them forever."
"I know," Lily sighed, "I just want everyone to be happy."
"You're so soppy," Richard grinned, and pulled his wife into a hug.

Elsewhere, another couple were being romantic. Love is in the air in Riverside!

Well, except for Lola. I really feel bad about Lola being alone for so long :(

However, Lola may be about to change things herself. I'm hoping she doesn't go back to Jace, but they like to hang out when I can't control them...
Jan probably won't like this! Luckily, he behaved himself.

"Your father is a troublemaker, Sonja," Jan said, with a smile, "But I wouldn't have him any other way."

The three most inappropriate people at the party to drink juice helped themselves. I suppose it's not *too* bad for Rhode, but the others! Particularly Sonja - bad habits for when she's at college, right?

Anyway, the party ended as a good time, and there wasn't really any drama, which was quite nice. For the rest of the season, things were quite peaceful for Nikki and Henry - though they both kept rolling wants for multiple loves and woohoos...

I also had no idea Henry was this playful until now.
I guess he wanted to wait until he owned the bathtub he was playing in.

The season ended with Nikki popping into pregnancy, and the couple still couldn't really afford it.

Nowhere near as dramatic as some of the other households in Riverside, but that makes a nice change, right? :)
See you next time for the university update!
