I had some leftover stuff from the past two updates that I thought I'd share. I've got one or two more chapters before I can stop staging EVERYTHING and put stuff from actually playing back into chapters. I cannot tell you how much I want to get to that point - to be able to play, and construct updates from what has happened (hopefully without restaging everything, too).

Right, let me show you some behind the scenes stuff!

Generation Five, Part One

Let's begin with the megahood stuff.

I could have recycled the pictures I took from the first megahood, but I needed to weave a different story this time - Maddie wasn't going to end up in Desiderata Valley. So I restaged every 'hood. Warning, these pictures are quite big - I didn't resize the megahood travels in order for you to get a proper look at them.

So the first 'hood Maddie went to was Pleasantview. I sort of wanted to hint that Maddie had been involved with Darren Dreamer - I pair Cassandra with Don, so Darren needed SOMEONE - but I didn't want to have Maddie dating in all of the 'hoods. So the pictures were quite subtle about the relationship Maddie had with Darren.

She hadn't had a boyfriend as a teenager, so I imagine this first relationship with Darren was all about discovering how relationships work and what she wanted from them. No way was anything this early on going to be serious, etc.

I also want to stress that my natural handwriting doesn't look like that - I deliberately messed up my handwriting because I figured Maddie had limited time, and wouldn't give much thought into what things looked like. Unfortunately, because I used handwriting that wasn't mine, it meant there were differences between all of the letters. Ah well.

The next neighbourhood Maddie covered was Veronaville. If I'd thought about it more, Maddie could have had Puck - I'm pretty sure they have chemistry, and they would have had adorable children. But I didn't, Maddie's future spouse is the one she had the highest chemistry with. So Puck here just gets to be a small relationship.

But I picture it a very sweet relationship, much different to Maddie and Darren in the previous 'hood, and I imagine Maddie would have been close to Puck's family. They're a tightly-knit bunch. Though I picture Titania knowing Maddie wasn't going to end up with Puck.

And yes, I had to stage a play on the back of the Summerdream house - it's perfect!

Riverblossom was next, and I was a little bit stumped with what to do here. I was also gutted that most of the 'hood WASN'T covered with snow. I could have fiddled with the batbox, but that was extra work. I was already redoing an entire generation, extra work was something I wanted to avoid.

I don't see Leod and Maddie as having a relationship. The farming and the rolling landscapes would remind Maddie of Puck, and she's not entirely happy that she had to leave him behind - but he couldn't be separated from his family in order to come with her. So Maddie and Leod were friends, but neither of them were looking for the same thing - he wants a farm wife, she wants adventure. That's my reasoning behind it, anyway.

I wasn't sure if it was obvious that Maddie is sword-fighting because she's met up with Alex O'Mackey. You can just make out Alex in the picture, but I wasn't sure if it was noticeable.

Bluewater! I really struggled with what to do here.

So all of the pictures seemed to have circulated around Jason and Maddie. Which was a bizarre little set-up, I couldn't work out why they fitted together or how they broke up. I'm really grumpy that this was all I could come up with for Bluewater, but I couldn't exactly skip it.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Desiderata was one of my favourites purely because in the last play-through of Maddie's generation, most of her time was spent here, with John.

The middle picture, of Maddie hugging John, really summed up how the 'hood felt for me. In my head, that's the morning she left, and as much as she liked John, she had to go on without him. She's about to rendezvous with Lee, and I don't think Maddie would want any additional visitors to the reunion. Too much explanation.

As we now know, that didn't quite work out how she wanted! But we'll get to that.

The first thing that happened when I loaded up Strangetown, before I had a chance to age anyone up or set anything up, Ripp decided to play with the fridge. Because, you know, he's Ripp.

I love Ripp. Maddie has chemistry for him, but I don't see Ripp settling down.

Besides, Maddie had told me which one of the brothers she preferred.

Tank's not sure how to feel about that.

Perhaps because Ripp was commanding them to dance.

But that's all I have for 5.1, let's move on to 5.2! I have more I want to say about 5.2

Generation Five, Part Two

Woo, train rides!

Has anyone said how freaking DIFFICULT it is to build a train. I don't know if I managed to pull it off. The angles I used in the actual chapter may have worked, but overall, I wasn't 100% happy with how the train turned out.

Who wants to find out who my extras were?

There's Toby Thompson and Tina Traveller - Toby is Maddie's second cousin I think. He's not first circle, anyway. And Tina's his girlfriend, and she also went to school with Maddie. Despite the fact these two will never get face time, they make the most adorable couple, and I look forward to playing their household.

I just put them on the train because they were already in my staging 'hood. But maybe they're heading to Belladonna for a romantic weekend or whatever.

The stressed-out business man in the background of some shots was played by Rolo from my ISBI. Again, he just happened to be running around the staging 'hood. Rolo would never be a business man in his own story, but there's always a stressed out business guy on trains that last longer than an hour.

And if you're wondering why there's a microphone on the desk, it's because that was the only way I could get papers on the desk. I need to download more clutter, I guess.

The woman reading was Dolly, Rolo's sister. She's practically unrecognisable without her blue hair.

That's enough about the train scene. It was a nightmare to try and stage, and I still don't like how it looks.

Let's move onto Leda. She's played a bigger part in this chapter than she has in awhile.

Her character development began when I started reading through generation four to see where I needed to take the plot, and what things needed to be tied up, expanded on or whatever.

Leda was worried throughout her childhood about being left out, and it was touched upon briefly. So I decided to pull that out a bit more - I have ignored Lance and Leda in favour of Maddie in the chapters of late generation four. It seemed like a good place to explore.

I do feel a bit mean for doing these things with Leda. But I'm excited for developing her story.

With the whole redoing Maddie's generation, I had to do some things again, like losing Grace and Orlando. Which was really odd, because I posted the chapter where they died over a year ago.

Someone also pointed out that they couldn't remember Grace's husband's name. So I'm now slightly worried the step back to recover the generation properly has confused people who read the Wrongways.

As for Maddie, in 5.2, she may have run from her problems - the appearance of her mother - but she didn't deal with them the way she has during her teen years. This was intentional, I wanted to develop Maddie a little bit.

She still has a long way before she'd be considered "emotionally healthy", but progress is progress.

This is where the last chapter ended. I'm so excited to get the next one started - I have some free time tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.

I hope this BTS wasn't TOO awful, maybe even a little interesting!
