TS4: The Rad Legacy [7]

I play far too much sims. But can you blame me? It's fun!

Anyway, there is currently an heir poll for generation three, over at Boolprop. You have until the 7th (I think) to vote, but if you're not a member just drop me a comment here or whatever :)

Last time, Dante got old, Anne got pregnant and Ryker got glasses. Ryker made friends, Karli was born and there were a couple of birthdays. One of which happened on the day Dante died. If you're not caught up, just have a look under the Rad tag, and you'll find all the updates.




We join the family to find everyone still miserable. Apparently, the sadness from seeing a family member die lasts two days.

So I kind of dragged my feet when it came to reloading these guys – they were bumming me out a little bit.




It would also help if the graveyard didn’t contain so many people – Karli might know which grave to sob at then.

Instead, she’s crying over Alison’s grave, and she never met Alison or her ghost.




I kept wondering who this lady was, knocking on the door at least once a day. Turns out it’s Anabelle – Rhea’s daughter.

Boy, did she change, right?!




Ryker invited Anabelle along to the park, because he’s being a good older brother and taking Karli to go make friends.

“Who’s the weirdo with us, Ryker?”

“Shut up, Karli, she’s our cousin.”




Karli wandered off leaving the teens to talk, and found someone her own age, which was a surprise to me – I was dreading that all the neighbourhood kids would be Ryker’s age by now. How lucky am I?!

This is Grayson Roe, and while Karli doesn’t look very impressed with him here, she actually was.




“Only this hamburger understands my pain.”

Ryker makes sadness look very dramatic. You didn’t see the picture I cut of him wandering along the path, the weight of the world on his shoulders.




Back at the house, and the ghost out for the evening is not the one I wanted.

“Freddy, no offence, but why couldn’t you let my husband haunt tonight?”

I’m still eagerly awaiting Dante’s first haunt.




Overwhelmed with disappointment that the evening’s ghost was Freddy, Anne took to the easel to express her deep sorrow at the loss of her husband.

Of course, her art skills weren’t quite as deep and sorrowful as her feelings, but you get the idea.

The ghost of Freddy, meanwhile, broke the bathtub. Jerk.




“Are we all still miserable this morning?”

“Mum, Ryker’s crying into his scrambled eggs, what do you think?”

When will it end? I know losing Dante was hard, but I’ll be feeling miserable myself if they keep it up.




Ryker got an extra issue added to his sadness – apparently he was lonely. I’d let his social bar sink a little bit too low, and now that was making him sad as well.

So I sent him to the park, where he found other sad people to play chess with.




Karli, who accompanied her sad brother, had cheered up and found a familiar face to play with.

“See anything out there, Captain?”

“Nothing yet, Roe!”




That girl who Ryker was making friends with in the last chapter? Myla Jones? Well, she stepped off the boat and out of Karli’s command and poofed into a teenager.

How awfully convenient!




So Ryker dropped his conversation with the Sad Chess Lady and ran over to catch up with Myla.

“Alright, Ryker, someone grew up frickin’ gorgeous!”

“Nice to see you again, Myla,”

I’m convinced Myla looks like she’s about to cause trouble or make a dirty joke.




I think they’re cute together.

No romance yet, but there’s plenty of time. And who knows, it may not even happen.




Back at the house, and the ghost we’ve all been waiting for finally shows up.

“Dante! It’s so good to see you!”

“Is that what adults are wearing these days?”

“Nah, this is my work uniform.”

“You’re paid to dress like a hipster now?”




Anne didn’t answer; she just pulled her ghostly husband into a hug, pleased to be reunited with him, even if it was just for the night.

And come on, she queued this up automatically. How sweet is that?




“Man, have I missed cake!”

“You missed cake, but not me or the kids?”

“No, I missed you all AND I missed cake!”




“Oh, Dante. It’s so nice to have you back. Stay as long as you can.”

“Well, we have a few more hours until dawn.”

“What do you want to do?”

“Hey, let’s try something really interesting…”




“Ghost woohoo!”

I was talking to Rob as this was going on, and he thought it was weird. Little does he know, ghost woohoo is not a new concept to the sims!




The next day, and a teenager walks past – a perfect opportunity for Ryker to make friends, and contacts for potential future spouses.

Unfortunately, she didn’t seem that interested.




Grayson also stopped by, which was awesome for Karli. The two of them are getting on really well and I love it.




Later that day, Ryker and Karli head to the park, and Karli commands the attention of all the boys for the afternoon.

And I’ve never seen that kid in yellow before, so the game must be generating new families – hope is not lost for the townie population!




However, that was Karli’s last afternoon as captain of a pirate ship, because that evening was her birthday. And who should randomly show up but Rhea!

“Your youngest is becoming a teenager. We’re getting old, aren’t we?”

“Not yet we’re not.”




“My cake is blue! Take that, Ryker!”

Anne’s cooking skills have improved enough to make more than just chocolate cake. Too bad it happened a little too late for Ryker’s last birthday.




Naturally, Karli is gorgeous!

She got the aspiration that’s related to fishing, which is a new one for me to explore. She also gained the hot-headed trait. That’ll be interesting to see how it plays out!




I find it easy to forget Anne has the insane trait sometimes.

But then I’ll find her hissing as she’s watching TV and remember. She’s quite entertaining to watch!




“Toilet Selfie!”

I don’t know if people actually do that. I thought it was weird when my flatmates were telling me they play games on the toilet. Am I the only one who doesn’t multitask in the bathroom?




It’s been awhile since anyone cooked as badly as Karli does.

Can’t be good at everything, I suppose!




Karli’s real area of expertise is fishing – and I thought I might as well give her aspiration a good go.

I’ve yet to fully complete an aspiration. Don’t judge me.




And Anne’s aspiration doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

When it didn’t count and Alison was just tapping on the rocks for fun, everything we needed popped out – fossils and crystals – but now Anne can’t catch a break. It sucks.




Part of Karli’s aspiration was to fish in multiple places across the world. So where better to go fishing than Sylvan Glade?

Finally, an excuse to go there OTHER than to look at the scenery!






She didn’t stay long, really – there’s no way of keeping up her needs in Sylvan Glade, and eventually she was getting hungry and cranky.

But she did manage to catch some fish before that happened, so I’d say the trip was a success.




Back at the house, and who should show up but Ryker’s favourite friend! And doesn’t she look happy to be there?

“You came over just to see me?!”

“Yeah, well, don’t get any ideas. I was just bored, okay?”

“Whatever you say, Myla.”




“Toilet Talking!”

Why aren’t you two as embarrassed as every other sim in the game? No one has managed to have a discussion on the toilet without getting embarrassed – the only exception being Dante finding out he was going to be a dad again.




“Has anyone ever told you that you like kinda nerdy?”

“Excuse you, I invited you in, you can’t say stuff like that!”

“I can say what I like! Mean Trait!”

“Ugh! I’m going to bed!”




“Why does no one like me?”

She lost a lot of relationship with Ryker by making fun of him, and then argued with Anne. It’s not going too well for Myla.




Look! A double haunting! With five graves in the yard it was about time, really.

The concept of ghosts is clearly not that interesting to Karli anymore. Also, why is Alison so angry?!




Worried that friendship wouldn’t work out for Ryker and Myla, let alone a relationship, I invited over the other teenager he knows, so that he had a back-up. It looked a bit tense, if I’m honest.

“Who’s she?”

“What’s she doing here?”

“You’re both my friends, why are you acting this way?”




“This is so awkward. Selfie time!”

Eventually Ryker got bored of both girls, and left them on the porch to make friends with each other. Go figure.




That night, and Dax came out. I don’t think I’ve seen him in a while.

And if he’s going to keep playing that violin, I don’t want to see him again for a while. Do ghosts build up skills? Because I don’t remember.




Just before the crack of dawn, Karli gets up, grabs her rod and heads out to the fish.

 Part of the aspiration is to fish for ten hours, so I’m slowly adding to that. I have a feeling I’m going to end up with too many pictures of Karli fishing.




Soon it’s time for Ryker’s birthday.

It snuck up on me; I thought he had loads of time left.




“Hey, I’m attractive!”

To be honest, he doesn’t look different at all to me. Is there any difference between the teen and young adult stages?

Anyway, he rolled the ‘Loves Outdoors’ trait, like his younger sister. Not an original one, this guy.




Everyone was asleep and Karli was craving socialising, so I sent her out to meet newly-teenified Grayson Roe. Who looks like he could be an extra from a Michael Jackson music video.

Anyway, it turned out he was sad, which wasn’t going to make for a fun evening.




“Just because you look like a smooth criminal doesn’t mean you have to be, Grayson.”

“Your advice is so wonderful, Karli. I’m so lucky to have you as a friend.”

She did eventually manage to cheer him up.




See? Best friends, these two. Not like Myla and Ryker, I don’t even currently know what they are.

Also, it turns out Grayson has the ‘Bro’ trait and I was amused and now I love him even more.




And then who should be in the bar but Anabelle Crump, Karli’s cousin who she’s met like twice!

Anabelle looks a lot better in her partying clothes than her day clothes. I should probably nip into their household and sort that out.




Anyway, we’ll end with Karli and Grayson staring at the stars from a grubby pavement. Cute right?
