Washed Up: Midnight Sun Challenge - 1.2
May. 16th, 2015 02:26 pm
I play this save obsessively and typed updates up as I went, so funnily enough, I’m ahead. I like being ahead.
In the last update, Cristina Thurman was marooned on a tropical island, where she met mermaid Derek. It took a little while, but eventually romance blossomed and the two retired to the tent after a few kisses, if you know what I mean * waggles eyebrows *
If you missed the last update, or just want to catch up, then the MSC tag is your friend!

“Ugh, I feel gross.”
Good. We know the tent woohoo worked.

Cristina wasn’t feeling any better by the time the sun came up, and was feeling so bad she couldn’t even make it to the tiny bathroom in the shack.
“I do hope I’m not getting ill…there’s no healthcare out here…”

Eventually, the cause of the vomiting came to light, and actually seemed quite obvious once the evidence was there.
Generation two is on its way!

She then tried to light the fire pit in the rain, which looked ridiculous.
Somehow, she was successful.

“I think the island’s rainy season has started, Cristina,”
“Well, that’s great, but I have some news!”
“Is the rainy season great?” Derek asked, staring up at the sky.
“Listen to me! I’m pregnant!”

“Ooh, that’s good news! Forget the rain, this is more interesting!”

And so they did forget about the rain, and instead strolled along the sands as if it were a sunny day.

“Where did that book come from?”
“Just washed up. It’s pretty terrible.”

With the rain never-ending and an impending arrival, the shack that once only contained a bathroom got a little bit of an extension – enough to house a crib for the newborn, and a fridge they can’t get to, which is for storing fish.

Late that night, the quiet isolation of the island was broken by a mysterious visitor. Derek rushed out to meet the odd fellow.
“Hi! I’m Derek!”
“Hello earthling. Nice habitat you have.”
I know it’s probably breaking the rules to interact with the alien, but come on! Supernatural sims! I’m all about supernatural sims!

Time passed, and Cristina went into labour.
With no hospital or anaesthetic, she just had to cope with the pain.

Derek, however, wasn’t sure how to cope with her yelling at him.
“We are NEVER doing this again!”
“Whatever you say, Cristina!”

Eventually, Cristina brought a tiny little boy into the world, although you can tell that from the blue caterpillar of a baby in the picture.
His name is Levi, and he gained the Easily Impressed and Loves the Cold traits. Probably not that helpful on a deserted island, but we’ll see.

Cristina went to bed straight after delivering Levi, leaving Derek with time to bond with his son. Derek neglected everything else on the beach to spend time with the new arrival.

“Hey, did you see what we made?”
“Do you mean Levi? Because yes…I was there when he was born, remember?”
“Isn’t he neat?”
“He’s great!”

Once Levi was asleep in his crib, Cristina and Derek took a walk along the shoreline.
They didn’t venture too far away, just in case their baby woke up, but enough to feel like they were getting out of the house for a bit. Cristina kept complaining she was going crazy even when she wasn’t in the house, she was sitting outside.
“It’s a great day, despite the rain.”

“What would make this day even better is getting engaged, Cristina. Will you marry me?”
“Where did you find that? It’s gorgeous!”
“The reef. You deserved something as pretty as you are.”
“Oh! Yes, Derek, I’ll marry you!”

He slid the ring onto her finger, and it was a perfect fit, despite it being scavenged from the ocean floor.

Rather than waste any more time, Derek and Cristina erected a makeshift altar, and changed into the closest thing they had to formalwear.
When people say they’re going to get married on the beach, this is how I picture it. It looks more like an English beach in October than a tropical island.

The rain didn’t let up, but the wedding was still beautiful. Cristina ended up changing her name, and Levi’s, and they are now the Prescott family.
At this point, I feel like I should mention that Derek’s traits are good, perfectionist, athletic, charismatic and ambitious.
They kept the altar hidden away for their son’s future, just in case.

It wasn’t long until Levi was old enough to toddle around.
He aged up bald, but that was easily fixed, and had inherited mermaid DNA from his father. Which is exciting – my first mermaid toddler!

Levi magically had more hair by bedtime, and is incredibly cute.

Cristina then celebrated breaking the sink.
Or perhaps, her adult birthday.

With a new hairstyle came a new mood, Cristina was suffering from a midlife crisis.
There was only so much you could achieve on a tropical island, was Cristina wasting her life by remaining here?

Levi rose when the sun did, and spent the morning grinning and playing with some wooden blocks.
Such a cute and happy toddler!

It’s never too early to introduce a mermaid to the water, and so Cristina took her little boy down to the surf to play.
I didn’t know they could do that! First time for everything.

He already thinks he can swim!
It won’t be long until he can, most likely. Kids can swim, but do mermaid kids have tails?

As evening fell, Cristina’s stomach turned.
It had to be the anchovies. Even after all this time, they were a horrible fish to eat.

“You okay, Cris? I’ve been worried about you.”
“Yeah, I’ve just been thinking too much. Like, maybe we shouldn’t have stayed on the island.”
“Do you regret it? And me? And Levi?”
“No, that’s the thing. The island has changed my life. I’m glad I’m here.”

It wasn’t long before the cause of Cristina’s upset stomach made itself known.
Levi was going to have a sibling! Hooray!

Derek was just as thrilled as last time.
Though both Cristina and Derek are hoping for a girl this time, for some reason.

And we’ll end the update with some sparkles!
Let’s see what Levi looks like as a kid…

Well, adorable, of course! And he rolled the Slob trait. Not awful, but not great either.
That’s all I have for this time! See you soon!
