Riverside Prosperity: Autumn 2, Update 4!

beanstalk_simsI've finished the rotation, and I want to update again before I get too far into the next rotation - like that's possible! The next rotation is 7 houses plus uni, the longest rotation I've ever played in anything before, I think.

Let's jump right in with the Rossi family. If you recall, Henry and Nikki were having some difficulties settling into their life as a couple. They were next to broke, in an apartment together, rolling wants for other sims and whatnot. And then Nikki found out she's expecting, because life is never simple.
The stress of being fairly poor and living in a small apartment was getting to Nikki.
This was the first thing she did when I opened the lot. I can't imagine that being good for the baby.
Her pregnancy wasn't too taxing, but her bladder need tended to drop like a lead balloon.
The toilet was RIGHT THERE and she couldn't make it. Luckily for her, no one was around to see it.
"Are you planning to get dressed today, Henry?"
"Why bother? I don't have a job."
"Did you read the paper today?"
"Wright, stop acting like my mother. I've got it covered."
Overall, things just weren't working out well for the Rossi family, but I have never seen this before!
"Nikki, I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm getting complaints about the smell in there. Did your husband die?"
"He's not my husband," Nikki replied, automatically, before her cheeks flushed a little, "I mean, no...we had a party last week, and we're still in the process of cleaning it up."
"Please get on that swiftly, Nikki. I can't have my tenants complaining."
Later that day, Nikki went into labour. Goodness knows where Henry had disappeared to, but somehow, Dylan was present for the birth.
It's a girl! This is Jayme Rossi
She had brown hair, and brown eyes to match, too.
"I'm thinking I should've gone to uni, Dylan. Sown some wild oats or something."
"Well. A bit too late now, bro. How's the job hunt going?"
"Good, I suppose. I got a low paid vacancy in the music career. I start tomorrow."
"Well, that's something, right?"
Unfortunately for Henry, his first day did not go as planned, and he lost his job almost immediately.
Things really weren't going his way.
So he headed down to the bar to take his mind off things.
Nikki wasn't going back to work til the next day anyway, so he might as well make the most of it while he still could. Right?
Besides, it was nice being out, and meeting new people.
Really, really nice.
"How was your first day, Henry?"
"Oh, I got fired."
"You seem oddly okay with that."
"It's okay, I got the job back. The position was open again today."
"Are you sure that's all there is to be happy about?"
"Other than my gorgeous girlfriend and beautiful daughter? Sure."
That evening, it was time for Jayme's birthday, and most of the Cooper-Lagoon family were present for it.
Emily and Gavin stayed home, due to the fact Emily is heavily pregnant.
Jayme is very cute, if a little unique! She looks almost exactly like her mother, from what I can tell.
She has a personality of 5/7/1/8/4
She may not be his grandchild biologically, but Richard loves Jayme all the same.
(Henry is Richard's step-son, if you remember)
I'm thinking any house these two get together will probably have to have at least two bathrooms.
Silly playful sims :)
"Dammit, keep it down in there! Henry, can you do something?"
"Why bother? They'll just keep it up."
"Ugh!"
Another dawn, another day. This time, Nikki was heading back to work - she's quite low in the Slacker career, which is her LTW career, but at least she's managing to hang onto the job.
"What is it with this neighbourhood? Oi, lady, where did you steal that from?"
"It's not stolen, it's a gift!"
"Sure it is."
Of course, we all know it's a genie lamp, but Henry was the first of the Rossi family to work that out.
"Let me guess, I get three wishes and I can't wish for more wishes."
"How did you know that?"
"I've seen Aladdin."
And that's how the Rossi family secured the money necessary for their future.
With one wish left on the lamp, too.
With money in the bank, Henry was able to hire a nanny to look after Jayme while he went into work for his (second) first day.
And she wasn't too terrible at her job, either.
The nanny may not have been bad at her job, but apparently Nikki and Henry were.
Whilst Nikki only suffered a demotion, Henry lost his job again, for the second time in a row.
So Henry did what he always does in these situations, and headed down to the bar for a game of pool.
And for a spot of karaoke.
But I'm not sure I want to know what he's singing about.
Upon his return to the flat, Henry actually found he liked spending time with his daughter. In fact, it was the most fun he'd had for days.
If he couldn't hold a job in the music career, he could at least hold a job as her Dad.
And so Henry became a stay-at-home Dad whilst Nikki brought home the bacon.
With the genie money, they'd be okay, and if not, they'd find a way to cope.
Due to a miscalculation on my part - and the fact that the seasons stopped moving forward on the Rossi lot - the family accidentally got played for a wee bit longer than they should've been, resulting in Jayme having another birthday.
She's supposed to be the same age as Daniel Cooper & Ace Newson, and I'll fix this in the next rotation.
Jayme still has a rather odd look about her (maybe it's the constant smile?) but she's very cute all the same.
And she definitely belongs to the Cooper-Lagoon family - first thing she did as a child was join the smustle!
"Can you keep it down? Some of us have work tomorrow!"
"Who cares! We're moving out, and we're celebrating. Run along, old man!"
"I'm calling the cops!"
"Do what you like!"
Of course, the elderly neighbour did end up calling the cops and shutting down the party, but it was a blast all the same.
A great send-off to their apartment days, and a wonderful celebration for Jayme's birthday.
It may also have started some troubles for the future of this little family...
But more on that next time!
On the gameplay side of things, hopefully the season glitch isn't spelling trouble for the neighbourhood generally! They're no longer in the apartment building anyway, so fingers crossed that things will be fine from here on out.
Also, to fix Jayme being aged out of sync, she'll be kept a child for one day longer than the others - they'll have their birthdays on the "one day until" and she'll have to wait until the sparkles get her naturally. Hopefully that'll sort things out. To be honest, ages sort of become less important when it comes to uni, as Jayme will be starting at the same time as Daniel & Ace.
Now you can't tell me you're not excited to see what I've got in store for Jace, right?
You probably know all about Jace's exploits, but a recap: he's a cheating scumbag who has screwed over half the female population of Riverside. Well. I say that. He got engaged to Lola way way back, but cheated on her with her aunt. Then he got into a relationship with Jan Tellerman and proceeded to cheat on her with a whole host of ladies, the latest of which is Kaylynn here.
You can't say karma doesn't catch up with people in Riverside...

So, I've got some fun little rules for Jace's new life.
Firstly, no jobs whatsoever.
Jace had to quit his well-paid culinary job, and with only two hundred simoleans to his name, had to grab a shovel and get digging.
"You're kidding me, Jace. This is our happily ever after?"
Secondly, the rules apply to Jace until the end of his life. Whether that's from old age, or an unfortunate fire, or a bolt of lighting, it doesn't matter - until Jace passes away, he's to remain jobless on the trailer park.
Also, I am not allowed to kill any sims in the prosperity on purpose, so if Jace does meet an early demise, it can't be my doing.
Kaylynn is bound by these rules until Jace is gone.
"Is this that ex you were telling me about Lola?"
"Yep."
"Well. This should be interesting."
Thirdly, any pregnancies will be cheesecaked. Let's cram as many sims into this box as possible!
And with the way these two keep going at it, chances are cheesecake will be on the menu very soon...
But first Kaylynn needs to disgust and annoy all her neighbours.
Yes, Clarence is somehow still considered a neighbour, despite living with Lola on the otherside of the river. I'm beginning to think the neighbourhood might be slightly borked.
Oh, would you look at that! Actions have consequences!
"What are you still doing here?"
"I'd leave if I could, but it seems my fiancé has passed out here..."
"Well, I'm not sharing my delicious cheesecake with you."
"Cheesecake? In your condition?"
"What of it?"
"...Nothing."
Burnt cheesecake is just as good as regular cheesecake, right?
Kaylynn seems to think so.
"Cheesecake? Oh no! Kaylynn!"
I'm not a complete monster, though. Jace's daughters are allowed to come over and see him, if they'd like. He doesn't really have much of a relationship with Rhode, but Sonja was more than happy to see her father.
She was less thrilled by the trailer park, her father's new missus, and the fact her family is split in half, but overall she seems to be taking things quite well.
"Daddy, am I too big for you to push me on the swings?"
"Never."
Like I said, Sonja adores her father. Despite all his faults, he has been good to her.
And despite all of this - the struggling for cash, the tiny home, the cheesecake - Jace STILL has not learnt his lesson.
Kaylynn Spitzig appears to have taken a shine to him, for reasons no one will ever understand.
Well, with Jace, romance and relationships never take too long.
But that brings me to rule four - Jace is not allowed to leave Kaylynn. Langerak, that is. He is to remain in the trailer, with Kaylynn. So he can cheat as much as he likes, but there's no happy future for him.
If anything, it'll make him more miserable, with Kaylynn wanting to slap/poke/shove him constantly.
Kaylynn Langerak, that is. Too many Kaylynns.
"Well, that was fun, catch you later!"
Of course, Kaylynn (Spitzig) hung around for hours after that, just to remind Kaylynn (Langerak) that things are less than peachy.
Kaylynn (Langerak) responded to all of this by ignoring both Kaylynn (Spitzig) and Jace. I was quite impressed by this - usually there's some sort of smackdown.
I did feel bad when Kaylynn (Langerak...okay I'll stop doing that now) ended up sleeping on the couch that night.
I'd completely forgotten she wouldn't go near Jace with a ten foot pole when I sent him to bed in the double, and unfortunately that meant a night on the sofa for Kaylynn.
Baby time, and of course, it's twins!
Jace and Kaylynn end up with both a boy and a girl - Morgan (girl) and Ares (boy). Ares is the first boy of Jace's offspring, and these twins are the first twins of Riverside!

And of course, the neighbours LOVE babies and start letting themselves in to come see the newborns.
I think it's odd to have the new partner of Jace's ex-fiancé hanging around, but that's just me.
It wasn't until Clarence was making a fuss over Morgan that I realised she had recessives.
Red hair? Where the heck did that come from?
Likewise Ares and his blonde hair?
Unusual. But alright, I'll happily accept more recessives.
It wasn't long before the twins were ready for cake, and both Kaylynn and Jace helped them out.
The cakes left them with $9 in the bank, meaning Jace had to spend the night doing some serious digging in order to pay the bills!
Morgan first, seeing as she's the oldest (by mere seconds).
She looks pretty much exactly like Jace, which is a trait of the kids he has so far. A little disappointing, but that doesn't mean I don't love Morgan! She had a wild personality of 1/8/1/8/10
Ares takes more after Kaylynn. He has a personality of 7/6/7/3/2, which doesn't seem quite as dramatic as his sister's.
Of course, the twins instantly become a handful.
Morgan crawled out onto the decking and played in the puddle.
And Ares blocked his entire family into the bathroom!
We'll be lucky if they learn any toddler skills.
"Kaylynn...please. I'm so sorry. For the sake of our children, can you please forgive me?"
"Why should I? You had another woman in OUR bed."
"To be fair, her name was also Kaylynn...I got confused?"
"Not working, Jace."
"But raising Morgan and Ares is going to be tough, and I'd rather have you on my side as we do it. I'm not sure I trust you but...let's do this for the twins."
"Yes. We can at least be friends!"
"Don't talk too soon, Jace."
And that's it for the Macareivch/Langerak family! It's a bloody nightmare trying to keep them all alive, but very fun all the same. Kaylynn is rolling wants for more babies, so I may have to get creative next time I play their trailer...
