The Rad Legacy: Eighteen!

Ladies and gentlemen, I have update! After working full time for the last month, I've got a week off before I go back to university - so you get an update from the Rad family! Aren't you lucky?

Last time, we witnessed generation five growing up, with Jasper succeeding in his childhood aspiration and Izzie pestering her brothers. Prince passed away in the middle of the street, leaving an urn I can't move. Of course, that meant Death was around and he's always fun to see! And it ended with an heir poll, the result of which has left us with our first male heir...

But why are they all in the street? And why is Kassidy elderly, I hear you ask? Well...




I was playing this lady in the same 'hood, and apparently hadn't unticked the "automatically age played households" box. Oops, my bad.

So as far as generation five in charge goes, I'm currently behind, as Jasper is now in the middle of his young adulthood, with no sign of a spouse!




"Then who's this lady fixing my sink?!"




"Hi, I'm Lauren, Jasper's Mail Order Bride!"

"Mail Order Bride?! JASPER, GET IN HERE!"

Well, because it was getting on and I want generation six soon, I just picked Jasper a wife from the gallery. This lovely lady comes from nicholaplaysthesims!

Lauren is a Non-Commital (which may be a problem) Evil Genius!




So, with a stranger now staying with him, and his siblings moved out, Jasper decided to head to the park to get to know his future missus.

"What a nice day to start dating a stranger!"




"So! What do you like to do for fun, Jasper?"

"I'm pretty into art."

"Oh. I like causing mischief."

"Well."




"So. Should we cause some mischief together?"

"I was thinking maybe we could get to know each other a little first."




"..."

"..."

"...This sucks, let's go to Granite Falls. Maybe the mountain air will make this easier."




A stranger in a new location should make the awkardness ease a little bit, right?

And yes, that is just an excuse to show off the prettiness of Granite Falls again.




I'm not convinced there's anyone in that hut, you know. Not like the Sims 1 rental hut, with a sim in it!

Good luck getting a tent, Jasper.




You know what? I think Lauren should have the "Loves the Outdoors" trait given how often she lays down in the dirt.

"Everything is awesome!"




Jasper continues the tradition of ignoring fire safety recommendations and pitches the tent next to the campfire. Smart man.

Don't worry, I moved it. As much as I love drama, I don't really want to lose my heir.




"Everything is wonderful!"

You know what? I'm really liking having Lauren around. She's been so carefree!




Can you guys feel the tension between these two or what?

"So I take it there aren't any picnic baskets for me to dip into..."

"Not on my watch, bear."




"Hey, you did a great job on these burgers, Lauren!"

"It's no trouble! You paid for me to come out here afterall,"

"Well, I think it's worth it. I'd like to get to know you better without my mother watching from the doorway."




"I think it's cute that she cares about you so much."

"I think you're cute."

"N'aw, are you trying to flirt with me?"




"Oh man, I am SO smooth!"

A friendship seems to be building quite well between the two of them, which is nice. I like it when a plan comes together.




"Ha, I'm so evil! I made extra food for myself! And I'm not sharing!"




Did Johnny Smith get a new day job?




"You're green."

"Thank you for pointing that out, sir."




"I am having the best time. Beautiful scenery, and I'm completely alone."




"Well, hi there! I'm camping in these woods also, isn't it just lovely?!"

"Lady, I have the Loner trait. Buzz off."




Surprisingly, Jasper was fine with Lauren joining him by the campfire.

Maybe it's because she left a whole seat between them.




Jasper ended up closing the distance, and attempting a friendship with Lauren once again.

"You know, you're pretty neat, Lauren."

"Really, Jasper?"

"You know what I mean. Of all the people I could've ended up being tied to..."




"You're glad it was me?"

"Exactly. I couldn't have asked for better."

"Such a flatterer, Jasper."




He left her with a smile on her face and a hint of pink romance in their relationship bar.

Which left me smiling, too.




"We go back today, Lauren. Ready for the million questions my mother will ask about this vacation?"

"Bring it on!"




She didn't seem so enthusiastic when they got back to the legacy house.

In fact, it was almost like the Lauren in the woods was a different girl...




As she started insulting Jasper over chess that evening.

The pink bar of romance was replaced with a red bar, and their friendship dropped like a red balloon.




"I know we're both evil, Lauren, but there's no need to insult me."

"Don't be such a baby."

And this was the moment where I started worrying that there's a rocky road ahead for these two.




Elsewhere, a miserable-looking Prince showed up, and climbed into bed with his missus.

I guess he's really missing Kassidy. But I don't think he'll be alone for much longer.




Morning arrives, and Kassidy thinks it's about time she gave Jasper her two cents about Lauren.

"Jasper, I'm not sure how things with you and Lauren are going, but you don't seem very happy."

"She's mean to me a lot...I want to like her, I want to get to know her, I want her to be the partner I need, but..."

"These things take time, Jasper. Try not to rush things, okay?"




"I love you, Mum. You always know exactly what to say."

"It comes with experience, honey."




In other news, I was really hating the way the Rad's house looked and all that, so I gave it a makeover, and plan to slowly redo the insides as well - extensions and whatnot.

I think it's already looking miles better! Even with Prince's urn in the street!




Unfortunately, Kassidy won't be around for the renovations.

"Mum!"

GUESS WHO'S BACK?!




GENERATION FOUR, WOW, THIS IS GOING WELL!

"What are you on about?! My mother is dead!"

RIGHT, SORRY. I WAS JUST IMPRESSED BY YOUR FAMILY.




"What do we do now, Jasper?"

"My mother won't be at my wedding..."

I COULD ALWAYS COME TO THE WEDDING. I LOVE WEDDINGS.

"Why are you still here, Death?"




OOH, BIG BANG THEORY IS ON!

Well, I don't think Death is going anywhere any time soon.




Naturally, Kassidy's death left Jasper ridiculously sad, which meant churning out a bunch of sad paintings.

And despite being creatively gifted as child, he's still got to start from scratch when it comes to skills. So this sad picture is a little bit ridiculous!




"I know you're grieving, Jasper, but you stink! And your first day of work starts in an hour!"

I don't like seeing Jasper so sad, but only time can fix that. :(




Jasper got a job in the Scientist career, because I wanted something to break up regular legacy play, and Scientist was the most Jasper-like career out of the three.

Plus, I'm still exploring Get to Work.




"I'm not wearing my glasses and I can see you're making a mess!"




Well, I'll leave you here, with Jasper trying out one of his serums - the synthetic food serum, I think.
