The Rad Legacy: Twenty!

Hello again! My assignment has been handed in, so it's time for an update!

Last time, we saw Jasper progressing with his inventions at work, and bring your alien to work day. He also made progress in his relationship with Lauren (nicholaplaysthesims), leading to the birth of generation six. They had a daughter, Arrietty Rad, who grew up towards the end of the last update. Oh, and Jasper passed out by the mailbox - full time work is hard yo.

Anyway, let's move on!




"Mum! I don't understand how to play this game!"

We rejoin the family to find Arrietty playing chess again. She may have got the Whiz Kid aspiration, but she never looks happy to see the chess board.




This is what Arrietty would rather be doing.

"Check ME out! I'm so pro at this climbing stuff!"




"Why do we even have a trash plant?!"

Arrietty follows Lauren around. I guess with Jasper working for most of her life, they don't really have much of a bond.




Jasper does run on a bit of an odd schedule, though. He's up most nights, in the garden. I put the satellite out there and I'm trying to get him abducted, but the aliens don't want to play ball.

If they don't take him, Arrietty's going to end up with no siblings! It's strange, as abductions seem to happen constantly in games that aren't mine.




And then the morning apparently involved this.

It's just not Sims 4 without someone exercising for no reason at all.




Of course, with the staying-up-all-night and exercise routine, Jasper passes out at work.

He's still managing to do okay career-wise, though.




"You're missing out on my entire childhood by following Dad to work everyday!"

She's right. Because I'm at the secret lab with Jasper all day, everyday, by the time he gets home, the day is pretty much over. I don't get to see much of Lauren or Arrietty. Time to stop following him to work? Maybe.




"I smell and I didn't get abducted and I don't wanna go to work."

Well. I can fix the smell at least.




"Dad! You're home from work and you don't smell!"

"I know! And the weekend is coming, so we can spend time together soon!"

"Hooray!"






Oh jeez, guys, really? She died like two chapters ago.

I really need to get them a hobby or something.




"Mum, there's this kid at school who has a twin. How come I don't have a brother or sister?"

"Well, that's quite simple - I don't like committment. We're lucky we've got you, really."

"Oh."

"It's okay, your father is working on getting you a sibling."




Working on it, but getting nowhere.

Why don't the aliens want my heir?




Hey look, Prince is out!




"Dad? Why are you yellow with embarrassment?"

"I walked in on you peeing."

"Oh. Great."

"That's not why I'm here though."

"Oh?"

"You need to spend time with your daughter, Jasper."

"Oh. That. Gotcha. Thanks for stopping by, Dad."




"I'm serious. I've only seen you interacting once, Jasper," Prince paused thoughtfully, "Can I have some of that food you're eating?"

"Sure. End the lecture, though."




So Saturday morning rolled around, and Jasper decided to take his family to the park. I mean, he'd been planning to anyway, but Prince helped him set the plan in motion.

None of them look particularly pleased about being there.




Arrietty set about making friends straightaway. She particularly liked this guy.

I don't remember his name. So we'll call him Purple Cardigan for the rest of the update.




"Look at me, look at me, look at me!"

There was also this kid, but no one paid him much attention.




"You there, in the Crow's Nest! Stop taking attention away from me, Captain Fuzzybuns!"

Wow, being a captain pretty much gave Arrietty a monobrow!




"So the kids on the pirate ship? They're good? Wanna invite them over sometime?"

"I dunno, Dad, I just met them. Can I go play again now?"

"I thought we were going to spend time together, kid?"

"Maybe later."




Arrietty didn't go straight back to the pirate ship, though - she watched the clouds with her mum for a bit. Total mummy's girl, this one.

"Don't be so hard on your dad, okay?"

"Okay. I just wanted to play is all."

"I know, kid, it's just you're growing up so fast."




Lauren and Arrietty weren't the only ones gazing at the clouds. Apparently this alien fellow didn't feel like bothering with a disguise.

I started wondering why he wasn't feeling embarrassed, like other aliens do.




Turns out he did.

I like aliens. This game needs more supernaturals.




The alien wasn't the only abnormal thing in the park that afternoon - Death was also out.

But he's quite often in the park, from my experience, so I guess it's not all that odd.




Elsewhere, the family had split up into different activities. Jasper had several questions for the alien.

"Why won't you guys abduct me?"

"We prefer to abduct men with large families who definitely don't need additional offspring."




"Is that your Mum over there? Running with a lump of clay?"

"Yeah...I never claimed my family was normal."




"Alone with the clay, at last!"





The family left the park as darkness fell, but I couldn't help but notice this alien sleeping on a bench.

With his eyes open. Of course.




Back at the house, and Jasper pulls this delightful face.

"Heehee, derp."




Kassidy decided to come out that night, much to Jasper's annoyance.

"I said I was sorry!"

"Sorry doesn't fix my bathtub!"




"I thought I'd find you out here."

"Just getting my morning sob out of the way, kid, that's all."

"But Mum...she died ages ago."

"But she was here just last night!"




Later that day, Jasper had an announcement for Lauren.

"You're having a midlife crisis? Cause you're dressed like a poolside teenager."

"Well, partly right. We have a pool now!"

"So...midlife crisis?"




"Why are you wearing your sunglasses in the pool?"

"The sun and the reflection hurt my eyes!"

"You sound like a grumpy old man."




I have no idea what Arrietty got up to in school, and I don't think I want to know.

But she did bring home a friend...




Purple Cardigan Kid!

"Mister, you're dressed kinda kooky."




"I am young and cool and this is how young and cool people dress!"

"Yeah, right!"




Arrietty came back from a shower and took her friend away from her Dad - mostly to stop an argument from breaking out.

Turns out these two are quite good friends, which I love.




Meanwhile in the kitchen, the reason for Jasper's odd behaviour made itself known - his birthday.

And apparently I missed his adult birthday, because Jasper's becoming an elder.




"Ugh. I'm still cool, though."

Well, of course!




The living room got a teeny bit of a makeover, too - I didn't think the tan floral theme was very Jasper-and-Lauren.

It only took a whole generation for me to get to that conclusion.




It wasn't long after Jasper's cake before Arrietty was due to appear in front of the candles.

She seems much happier about it than he did.




"The last time I saw confetti it was because I was pregnant!"

Sniff, time flies so fast!




And here she is! Isn't she pretty?

Her new trait is Music Lover, and her aspiration is The Curator! And because Jasper never got abducted, Arrietty will be our heiress for the next generation!
