The Rad Legacy: Twenty-Two!

I've got a couple of weeks before I go back to university, so I've got time to play sims - which means you get an update!

Last time, we saw Arrietty begin to work towards her aspiration, ghosts doing housework, Lauren and Jasper mourning Kassidy (who died a long time ago now), Arrietty’s childhood friend refusing to grow into a teen, Lauren getting old, Jasper dying, and the family moving into a new house in Oasis Springs.

We rejoin the Rads – or what is left of them, anyway – to find them miserable on their balcony, having dinner.

It’s quite the view from there, you know. You’d think that might at least ease the frowning a little bit.




“What are you doing, Arrietty? Baking to ease the pain?”

“No…it’s my birthday. Someone has to make a cake.”

“I’m sorry! I forgot…what with your father’s death and the move…”

“Don’t worry, Mum. It’s been a difficult time.”




And in the blink of an eye, Arrietty’s teenage years had vanished, and she was a young adult.

Her final trait is Romantic. Just like her grandmother, Kassidy, oddly enough.




“Yay. Happy birthday to me. Ugh.”

The two day mourning period is really bumming me out, guys.




“HI! Didn’t you just move here? I’m the WELCOME WAGON! WELCOME!”

“Do you mind not being so loud? We’re having a rough time already.”

“Let’s be BEST FRIENDS!”

“Go. Away.”




Arrietty left her mother to deal with the strangers on the balcony, and trudged off for another of collecting useless artifacts.

I’m really hoping that I’ll finally be able to complete an adult aspiration with Arrietty.




Back at the house, and this mysterious bald guy helped himself to the pool.

It turned out to be Jamal – the purple cardigan kid Arrietty befriended? He’s finally a teen. He’s probably a little too young for Arrietty, unfortunately.




That didn’t stop him from sticking around and annoying everyone, though.

“Hey, Arrietty! You smell!”

“I know, Jamal. Go home so I can take a bath!”




The next day, and Arrietty’s out collecting when she bumps into this fellow – whose name is Jairo Forbes.

“Hi! You look pretty dashing.”

“But, lady, your face is sad and your voice is flat as you compliment me.”

“My father just died. It’s hard to go about life, you know?”




And whilst explaining her entire life story – because that’s totally what you do when you meet strangers – Arrietty somehow managed to embarrass both of them.

What an accomplishment!




Still, the pair managed to get past their awkward moment, and Jairo even managed to cheer Arrietty up a little bit.




You know, til she got home and remembered.

So what better way to cheer yourself up than to throw a party, right?

I don’t throw many parties in the sims 4 – I’m pretty terrible at them – so we’ll see how this goes.




So far, so good, right? They found the TV and the clay, the two most entertaining things in the house.

Speaking of the guests, other than Jairo, the people present are sims Arrietty only vaguely knows – the Welcome Wagon, Jamal, her uncle Mikel.




“Is salad common at parties?”

“I guess not…but I’m starving, okay?”

The accomplishment-goal thing wanted Arrietty to serve cake but she was already dishing up salad when I noticed that. Oh well!




So what’s Lauren doing while all this is happening?

Mourning the dead, obviously. She has no other hobbies. But given how recent Jasper’s death was, I think it’s acceptable for her to still be sad.




Arrietty, however, seems to be totally over the loss of her dad.

“I love my life!”




“What a splendid party, Arrietty!”

“Thanks, Jairo! It’s pretty cool you could come, you know. I like hanging out with you.”

“I also appreciate your company, Arrietty.”




Once the party ended, the guests were all on their way out – when  Arrietty suddenly stopped Jairo at the top of the stairs.

“We should hang out tomorrow, Jairo, if you’re not busy.”

“That would be good.”

“Awesome! See you then!”




“I think she quite likes me!”




That night, whilst Lauren and Arrietty slept off the effects of partying, Kassidy came to visit, and spent the night in front of the TV.

I’m pleased the ghosts survived the move – although Prince’s urn is still in the road at the old lot, sadly.




The following day, Arrietty begins work on a rocket, because I was reminded that space holds some rare collectibles.

I want to complete this aspiration, dammit.




Lauren continued her routine of sobbing over the dead – alternating between Kassidy and Jasper. If she keeps this up, I really am going to have to move them somewhere no one can get to them.

It’s getting annoying.




Evening arrived, and so did Arrietty’s meeting with Jairo – at a local bar.

Look how cute they are. Seriously.




Oh look! My favourite townie is out – bald, topless lady!

I still haven’t fixed her. I probably won’t get round to it, and she’ll continue to show up like this in the background. But I’m more than okay with that – she’s interesting, to say the least.




“Jairo, you’ve really been there for me these past couple of days. I’m glad we met.”

“It has been a wonderful couple of days, Arrietty. I am very glad you wandered into my life.”




“I’d like it if we could be more someday, Jairo.”

“Perhaps we will.”

“Let’s try it. Let’s go on a date tomorrow, and see what happens.”

“Well…I suppose it cannot hurt.”




Back at the house, Lauren has found herself a new hobby!

And the pool is finally getting some use!




“Everything is awesome!”

 Arrietty has definitely moved on from the loss of her father, but I don’t think Lauren has yet.




To celebrate everything going swimmingly, Arrietty went out and collected some more tat to fill the house with.

Seriously, there are frogs and crystals everywhere in the house!




The following day arrived, and so did Arrietty and Jairo’s first date.

Their easy friendship quickly developed into something more.




“Are you having a good time, Arrietty?”

“Better than good, Jairo – I’m fabulous! This week has been the best of my life!”




Arrietty then showed him just how much he had improved her life with her first kiss, quickly followed by many more kisses.

In between kisses, Arrietty breathlessly asked Jairo to move in with her – and he accepted.




Three ghosts walk into a bar…

Seriously, I had no idea there were this many ghosts in the ‘hood. If I had Get Together, it would be time to start a ghost club.




Arrietty and Jairo went home, and settled into the house – the home they now share.

“Arrietty, there is something I need to tell you, if we are going to pursue a long-term relationship.”

“Okay…nothing you can say will change my mind about you, you know.”




“I have been in disguise this whole time, Arrietty. I am an alien.”

“Well, I didn’t expect that…but you know what, Jairo? I don’t care. I like you.”

“I am very pleased to hear that, Arrietty.”




After that, it was as if Arrietty had always known about his alien heritage.

 They continued to hang out just as they always had done.




“Jairo, I know we haven’t known each other long, and I know I may be rushing things but this feels right, you know? Like, perfect! Will you marry me?”

“Of course, Arrietty, I would be honoured!”




And for the first time in generations, there’s going to be a wedding!

Which is unusual for this family, for some reason. Lauren was Non-Committal, but I should have at least married Kassidy to Prince, back in the day, because of the Romantic trait!




Unfortunately, the good news had to come with some bad news.

“I feel a bit weak…I might just lay down here for a moment.”




I’M PRETTY SURE THIS ISN’T THE RAD HOUSE I VISITED ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AGO.

I guess it must get confusing – the Rads have now lived in three different residences. Hopefully this will be the last one now. We’re getting pretty close to the end (!!!)




Surprisingly, Lauren’s death happened really quickly – Death didn’t mess around on his tablet for half an hour, he reaped almost immediately.

I HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK THAT I’D LIKE TO GET BACK TO, YOU KNOW.




Apparently, not witnessing the death of your loved one means it has no effect on you – Arrietty continued to sit on the sofa, happy as Larry. Whoever Larry may be.
