The Rad Legacy: Twenty-Four!

I'm procrastinating again! So you can enjoy another chapter from the Rads!

Last time, Arrietty and Jairo tied the knot, and brought their first child into the world - Gwendolyn Rad. Yes, another girl. She's blue, but she's not an alien. The house got a facelift because it was annoying me. Jairo got to party while Gwen made some friends.

"Stop! JAZZ HANDS!"

We rejoin the family to find Gwen dancing up a storm. While the frog watches - there's frogs in quite a few places round the house.




Later that afternoon, Gwen and Elsa decided to play hooky from school and head down the Bluffs.

I had no idea hooky was a thing, so I was more than a little intrigued. This is also the first time I'm seeing the Bluffs - and they're incredibly pretty. Like most places in TS4, right?




The girls decided to swim in the pond, which was pretty cool.




This also led to Gwen jumping off things into the water - Elsa was far more reserved about it.

I guess Gwen is the rebellious thrill-seeker out of the two of them.




"Hi Gwen! You were late home from school this afternoon."

"Yeaaah. Um. Me and Elsa...we, er, joined the swim club."

"Oh, that's fantastic news! Did you hear that Jairo, our little girl is going to be a swimmer!"




"I'm pregnant and uncomfortable!"

It can't be that much longer til the second baby, can it? Arrietty's huge!




Another day dawned, and Gwen headed off to hang out with her friends.

"So then my Mum told Dad she was never having another baby."

"Still. At least you get a baby brother or sister. I'm stuck being the baby."

"Yeah, well, you can share mine! It'll be awesome!"




The girls jumped down from the monkey bars, grinning.

"Hey Elsa, can we be friends forever?"

"I think that sounds awesome! Best friends forever!"




And with that, the girls had helped finish part of Gwen's childhood aspiration, which was pretty cool.

I like the kids having friends. I should do that more often in the legacy!




That night, Jairo was invited to a birthday party at one of his friend's houses, but it ended up being really weird - they just sat around on the bed talking.

And yes, that is Mikel in the burgandy jacket behind Jairo. He's always about, but I rarely see Izzie.




At home, Kassidy was out to meet her great-granddaughter.

"So this is Gwen, Grandma. And I'm currently carrying another little one!"

"Still? You look about ready to explode, Arrietty."




Kassidy was right, of course.

"The sink broke and so did my waters!"




Naturally, it's time for another trip to the hospital!

"I'm pregnant and uncomfortable!"

I have no idea where Jairo was at this point - he was at the hospital.




Hey, look! A spouse finally made it to the delivery room!

"What are you doing to my wife?!"

It's probably best if he waits outside, actually.




Oh, look, another girl! This lack of boys is pretty ridiculous, don't you think?

Anyway, this little one is Mia.




"Aw, she matches my hair!"

We'll see how long Arrietty's no-more-babies thing lasts. Quite frankly, I'd like a male child at some point.




The next day, Elsa came over to hang out - it was her first visit to the Rad house.

"So, I'm a big sister now. Cool, right?"

"Super cool!"




"What's eating you, kid?"

"I'm never going to be a big sister!"






It wasn't long before Mia grew up. She's really pretty :)

She rolled the Whiz Kid aspiration, and the Goofball trait.




And rather than interacting with her family, Mia took herself up to the roof top play chess.

I guess she's a bit of a loner.




Mia's bolder, older sister decided to try and help her out.

"You should join this totally cool club I'm part of!"

"Um, no!"

"How do you know if you don't try?"




So that evening, when Gwen went to hang out with her friends, she took her quiet little sister with her.

"She's super quiet, Gwen. Can she even talk?"

"She can! She just doesn't like to!"




Mia really didn't fit in the League of Adventurers - she didn't really want to play and yell and talk, she just wanted to chill out quietly, by herself. None of them really got that, though.

"Where you going? We're still hanging out!"

"Home."

"But why?"

"It's late."




"Maybe she'll be better when she gets to know you guys."

"I hope so, Gwen."




Back at the house, Mia was eating quietly by herself.

I very rarely see her with other people.




Gwen, however, seems to seek out other people.

"How's my oldest little one doing?"

"Pretty good, Dad. I've been trying to help Mia make friends."

"She'll get there, little one."

"Why isn't she more like me?"

"We're all different, Gwen. I mean, I'm an alien for plumbbob's sake!"




Gwen got down from the table and hugged Jairo.

"I love you Dad, alien or not."

"I love you too, Gwen."




Hey look, it's Lauren!

It's her first haunting! :D




Not that anyone noticed Lauren arriving. Jairo was too busy dancing upstairs.

His dances are always more interesting outside of the house. Must be the power of a DJ, rather than a stereo.




The League of Adventurers met that night, again at an obscure hour. Apparently, it's never too late for play time.

Mia seemed to enjoy herself a little more this time, but was still very much on her own.




Until one of the boys stopped playing long enough to talk to her.

She was able to make light conversation with him before he ran off to play again.




As dawn arrived, Mia was still on her own.

And that was just the way she liked it.




Back at the house, and Mia's parents were running around naked.

"I'm not going to ask."

They'd been caught skinny dipping in the pool, but apparently had to go back inside to put clothes on.




"Hey, Arrietty, check out my dance moves!"

"After cake! It's Gwen's birthday!"

"Dancing and cake? Best day ever!"




They ended up dancing together rather than watching Gwen blow out her candles, but that's okay.

I love these two together.






Naturally, Gwen grew up gorgeous. She's got darker blue hair than her mother, because her skin tone is so close to the other blue it looked a little odd.

She rolled the Master Chef aspiration, and the Art Lover trait.




To celebrate her birthday, Gwen had her best friend over.

"Wow, someone grew up gorgeous!"

It's true, both girls are cute.






"I like your blazer, Elsa!"

"Yeah, Mum said I was a Bjergsen, and I had to 'look the part'. Whatever that means."

"Well, you could wear a bin bag and still look the part."




"You think I'm pretty?"

"Of course! You're gorgeous."

"You know, you are too. We match."

"We do. We'd make a great couple."




"We definitely would."




Eventually, the girls went inside.

"Okay, Elsa, it's pretty obvious that I like you..."

"You know, I hadn't noticed."

"You totally had."

"I know. Stop babbling and kiss me then, Gwen."

"I liked that, Elsa. I like you."

"I like you too, Gwen. Let's see where this goes."

"Sounds good to me."




"When did we get old enough for teenagers, let alone a teenager with a girlfriend?"

"We're not old, Arrietty. Not yet."

"I feel old. I want another baby."
