The Rad Legacy: Thirty-One!
Mar. 17th, 2017 08:27 pm
Eeesh, I really need to get better at updating.
While I disappeared, this legacy turned two. I've been sitting on this update for over six months, too.
(I never wrote captions for this one when I took the pictures six months ago, so I am winging it!)
Let's have a summary of last time! I can't remember what happened, so it would be rude to expect you guys to remember!
The family got an ice cream machine as I caved and bought Cool Kitchen Stuff. They proceeded to eat ice cream for most of the update. Heath, the gen 8 heir, went out dancing with his friends, and bumped into Paolo - the older guy he had a little bit of a crush on. The ghosts came for a visit. Marina, gen 8 spare, moved out with her boyfriend. Gwen and Elsa, the power couple of gen 7, became elderly. Heath grew into a young adult and took his place as heir, and headed out dancing to celebrate. He also stole some kisses from Paolo, moved him in and promptly got knocked up.
So! On with the show!

With the family growing and there being multiple spares hanging around, starting a club for them seemed long overdue.
The club activities include dancing and BBQs, which just fits the Rads perfectly if you ask me.

It was around this point that I had the not-so brilliant idea of trying to run my first retail establishment - it swallowed a LOT of the Rad's money building this box.
But at least Heath could now kit out his neighbours in more fashionable designs, right?

It also helped time pass - Heath's pregnancy was not all that interesting.

I love Heath, though.
Who couldn't love a sim with both the "slob" and "childish" traits?

Some individuals even love Heath so much they want to spend the rest of their lives with him!
Yes, Heath proposed to the adorable man who had caught his eye as a teen. And of course, Paolo said yes.

They don't get up to many interesting things together, but they are very cute.

So to celebrate, the family club was called over, which of course meant more grilling.
Heath was in charge of cooking this time, which of course meant he needed to tweet about it.
"How else will my followers learn of my mad culinary skillz."

The next day, Heath was too pregnant and cranky to run his business, so Gwen headed out for him.
And in a desperate attempt to turn a profit, the walls were deleted, and the shop became a lawn with some mannequins on it. Which is probably closer to Heath's hipster-y outlook anyway, thinking about it.

Gwen, however, was not really suited for the world of business.
I feel like this shop will never turn a proft.

Gwen managed to make a couple of sales, but you can't save a business with a handful of customers.

And of course, when I got back to the house, Heath essentially reminded me I was ignoring his pregnancy.
"Gosh, I'm so huge and pregnant right now."

"Let's look up the symptoms of labour!"
A bit too soon yet, Heath.

Another reason why I was dragging my feet playing and writing up this chapter - I have to say goodbye to one of my favourite couples of the legacy.
It never get easier. But at least they went at the same time, I suppose.

"The Reaper is real?!"
YOU BET YOUR PLUMBOB I AM. NOW SHH, I'M TRYING TO WIN AN EBAY AUCTION.

The graveyard's getting a little full.
Luckily there shouldn't be anymore additions to it - hopefully Heath and Paolo will live to see their grandchild finish the legacy.

Of course, a death in the family makes way for a new life, right?
"Oh no! Labour! And fatherhood!"

"Actually, I'm okay with it all."
"I wish I was. Labour sucks, Paolo."

Labour does indeed suck in the sims.
They accidentally removed the heart every single time. Someone train up these midwives!

"I have complete confidence in our doctor."
I'm glad you do, because I don't.

Pretty soon, Heath and Paolo were blessed with a tiny daughter.
Because of course the baby was a girl! For those of you keeping score at home, that's thirteen girls to four boys in the entire legacy!

"Welcome to the world, Euphoria Rad."
With Heath's baby, I did something I've only done once before in the legacy - chosen the baby's name as opposed to randomising it. The last time was Arrietty.
Euphoria's name was chosen because of the song I was listening to at the time. And it seemed appropriate - Heath would never pick an ordinary, 'played out' name for his child!

"Aah! Fatherhood!"
Well someone finally realised the gravity of the situation.

"Aw man, my birth announcement only got 100 likes."
I don't feel like it should matter all that much, Heath.

"You're worth millions more than my followers, little one!"

"I must be fighting fit to be the perfect dad!"
Yeah, Paolo took a funny approach to fatherhood, but hey, whatever works. Who am I to judge?
"I can fight off bears! And potential love interests in the future!"

Heath didn't take much of a maternity leave - it was straight back to work.
"Where did my walls go?!"

He then proceeded to play with his action figure instead of working for awhile.
I have a feeling that's one toy Euphoria is never going to get to play with.

Heath did actually make a sale or two, even if it doesn't look like it.
"I'm a natural!"
I wouldn't go that far.

And while we were out, look who aged up!
With skull face paint? #edgy

Euphoria was given a makeover, although it'll change again in the next update as I'm sure she's wearing CC and I currently play CC-free.
She got the Art Lover trait, and the Rambunctious Scamp aspiration.

And it's straight out to Windenburg to join the kid's club - as per tradition!

I don't know who this kid is, but he looks grumpy as hell!
Euphoria seemed to take a shine to him, though. Maybe she's hoping she can brighten his day.
Good luck, kid.

Still, he joined her on the climbing frame.
He's either the villain in their game, or a morally corrupt captain of some kind.

Back at the house, and the fathers don't seem to have noticed their daughter has gone out.
"Take that, Captain Evil!"
"You are delightful, Heath."

"I lost followers, Paolo!"
Meanwhile, Paolo just looks ridiculously content with his lot in life, which is nice. Also, Jairo - hi Jairo!
----
That's all I have for this time, however!
Hopefully I'll be back soon - we're so close to the end now!!

Date: 2017-05-06 06:42 pm (UTC)Dancing and BBQs do seem to be very fitting activities for the Rad family club.
Aww, Heath and Paolo. <3 They are so cute together!
Poor Gwen, running a business is hard work. Not that I've tried it in TS4, though.
Ow. Seeing the elders go always hurts. :( Goodbye, Gwen and Elsa!
But hooray for little Euphoria! Welcome to the family!
Heath and Paolo may both have a bit of an odd approach to fatherhood, but hey, I'm sure little Euphoria won't mind. :) She might mind though if she doesn't get to play with her toys at all! :D
Euphoria grew up really cute.
So close now! Almost there with the whole legacy - I suppose only the writing left at this point. Looking forward to seeing how it wraps up! :)
