Hello again! I've played quite far ahead and don't want to fall behind with updates!

Last time, we started with a totally normal family - Tuxedo and Eloisa were living in Old Town, raising their son Pickle, with the help of their skeleton maid, Bonehilda. Totally normal. Pickle grew into a nice young wizard, casting all sorts of spells. The family also took a trip to the snowy part of Vacation Island, and when they returned, Pickle grew into an adult - an adult wearing a helmet that completely obscures his face. Totally, 100% normal family.

Anyway, let's see what happened next!

We start off in Magic Town, which is not that unusual for the Jones family. Gotta get those coins for spells, afterall - Pickle needs a missus! And also I do want to move them to Magic Town before the next generation arrives.

So expect to see quite a few trips to Magic Town in this update.

Back at their very normal house, Pickle decides to chill out with his Dad. There aren't any flags for family relationships as far as I know, but things seem fine so far.

Also Pickle always looks ridiculous and I love it.

I did just warn you about multiple Magic Town trips :D

I figured, seeing as we have two wizards in the family now, it might make things quicker to take both of them.

So Tuxedo gives multiple shows whilst Pickle shows off duelling Vicky.

I read somewhere that the higher the logic skill of the person you beat, the more coins you get. I have no idea how true that is, but I've only found one person to duel who pays better than Vicki does, and that's Magic Townie Deadward Strange.

Eventually everyone tires of magic for a bit, so I decide to send Pickle out for something normal.

He's off Downtown! Look at that ridiculous cab :D

"I wish for a girlfriend who is pretty and intelligent, but also never curious about my actual face."

Standard romance, really. Also I never realised how pretty Downtown is?

"I like you!"

Pickle, no, she's married.

Who on earth is Eloisa out to dinner with? I had no idea sims from the same household could just turn up Downtown.

Chatting people up in a candy store, classic romance move.

I basically had Pickle "Talk about Interests" with every woman he met, and anyone who didn't shut him down after a couple of seconds was a candidate for his future wife. This lady here, Ester Townie, was the only one who really spoke to him properly, other than Bella Goth.

I figured the fact they got on so well meant she was the one, and Pickle cast his Lovestruck spell.

The ingredients for the Lovestruck spell are really easy to get, and it's also a really quick way to boost the friend count.

After falling in love, Pickle went straight back to beating Vicki for coins.

I had told myself Pickle wasn't allowed to marry/move in his love interest until the family was living in Magic Town. Luckily, the family was pretty close to the target.

And now the family reside at 92 Creepy Hollow, otherwise known as Old Man Lum's. It's the cheapest of the Magic Town lots, and comes stuffed with gnomes and flamingos, which is great for all the enchantment spells I'll probably have the family casting.

The house itself is pretty small, but they've not got a lot of money right now, so extending will have to wait.

Ester is the first guest to visit the new lot - and she brings a bunch of her normie friends with her. They look a little bit out of the place with the Magic Town aesthetic, I must say.

Pickle and Ester make an interesting couple.

She won't be marrying in just yet, as they don't have the right ingredients for the spell, but even so. It's nice having her around.

The family haven't been there long when they get their first mystical item - an ability crystal!

I've never used this one before! I think it appeared on the lot when I played the Quest for the Beanstalk, but I never used it. So this is exciting!

The green crystal teaches magic sims to "spook" - an entertainment interaction that involves confusing people by sinking down into the floor and then appearing behind them.

It's pretty funny, but also doesn't add that much. Not all sims receive it well, from what I've seen so far.

Give me the pink crystal, teleportation is so useful!

Unrelated to everything else, have a wholesome picture of Pickles gardening.

Fun fact, Pickles also sleeps in an adorable bed in his parents' room, because this house is so small!

Also the edgy helmet with the pretty purple sheets is a look.

Pickle needs Clown Confetti, while Tuxedo is just bumping our coin count back up for more spells - I would like a beanstalk eventually.

It felt like it was taking ages to get the ingredients for marriage this time around, I have to say.

And it was taking its toll on Pickle.

"I don't know what you and your dad get up to all day..."

I don't know why, but Pickle in the bath with his helmet on amuses me a ridiculous amount.

Goddammit, Eloisa.

You're lucky Bonehilda came with the house.

Finally, finally we have the ingredients to make progress. So Ester is invited over...

"No, the crime level in this neighbourhood is actually really good!"

It's marriage time!

Ester joins the family - she has a personality of 3/3/5/10/4, which makes her a Taurus.

I had them perform a bunch of romantic interactions to try and get the baby pop up, but nothing so far.

I guess we can't rush these things, but I've had the pop up from Tuxedo and Eloisa multiple times since they had Pickle. I've had to say no every time, we need the space for more generations.

Well, it wouldn't be a Sims 1 update without a fire, would it?

This one was an Enchantment spell backfiring. I put a fire alarm on the outside of the house after this, because I knew it wouldn't be the last time.

It took three attempts but we did eventually bring a gnome to life.

He didn't do any gardening, he just got drunk in the nectar press.

So that's fun!

And that's where babies come from!

Pickle and Ester had a little girl - her name is Peanut. My boyfriend named her.

Raising Peanut is going to be a team effort, seeing as these guys aren't fabulous at keeping themselves alive. Look, Eloisa is already complaining she smells, and there's trash on the floor.

All the best for little Peanut.

Also, it turns out that Ester has a job!

She's a Roadie, and is out of the house almost all day.

There are not many pictures from these few days of Peanut's babyhood. Keeping everyone alive was time consuming and exhausting.

Plus I had the pop up about neglect for Peanut and was worried they'd take her away.

But it's all good! Little Peanut grew up!

Place your bets, will she be as extra as her father, or as ordinary as her mother?

"How great am I?"

She grew up rather ordinary, I'd say! But I love her all the same!

Peanut has a personality of 4/3/4/10/4, and is a Taurus.

Time for a family tradition - the first trip to Magic Town!

This time it's Pickle running off to ride the roller coaster. I should probably also mention that Eloisa and Ester are still normies without wands. Goodness knows what they think is going on all the time.

Does he stand on the edge of the world on purpose?

Anyway, little Peanut is a wizard now.

May as well get some coins in the bank while we're here, right?

Although without Vicki to beat repeatedly, the amount we're winning is a bit lower.

Meanwhile, Ester and Pickle are repeatedly riding the roller coaster.

Might be time to head home before they blow all of the family's savings.

This many sims is hard, guys.

The days pass uneventfully, as I try to keep everyone alive.

Their needs honestly drop like lead balloons.

Peanut is also already an A- at school, after just a couple of days, so the Age of Instant charm would work now but...it feels too soon. I want her to be a child a bit longer.

Also that bus was stuck there ages because of that stray dog.

Just an ordinary childhood, really - sitting in the garden, playing in the street.

There's so little room inside the house I end up dumping most things in the garden. Thank goodness there's no weather!

While Peanut is at school, I have Pickle stock up on coins and ingredients.

The family has the ingredients for the next Big Question spell already, which is good, but I also want to cast some smaller, random spells to get more magical items.

Also dispersing clouds is so meh, but I really liked that screenshot, and I have no idea why!

I also let Peanut make some magic of her own!

I'm having her cast Make Cake because:

I didn't know that was possible! I knew the spell backfired, but I didn't know about the prince!]

I sincerely hope this spell backfires!

What the heck?!

This isn't meant to work!

I tried it again. It worked again.

I honestly have no idea. I did check the game folders afterwards and there is some CC there that Rob (my boyfriend) must have downloaded, is it possible he patched the cake thing at the same time??

Well, the family did the only thing it can do in a moment like this - throw a party, and hope the guests eat plenty of cake!!

And that is all I have for this time, see you next time - for a vacation, and Peanut's birthday!
