I am storming ahead with this challenge!

Last time, the chaos continued as the generation began to grow up. The last two children were born - Cher and Edward - and quickly added to the madness. There was cleaning, baking, sand castle making, skilling, and a dependency on the popcorn machine. Winter is in full swing now, so let's see what it has in store for the family!

We rejoin the family to find Alice beginning the long task of potty training Edward.

This is the last time we'll have to do this this generation!!

Elsewhere in the house, the kids are super energised as it's Winterfest Eve.

There's no decorations, or even a tree yet, but they're all really excited regardless.

Well, near enough everyone is excited.

J is pumped for Winterfest, but doesn't care much for the 'winter' part.

Izabel seems to spend a lot of time by herself. She is the ultimate middle child.

Maybe when Cher grows she'll have some company.

I don't know what Lyndon is talking about, but Edward is eating every single word of it.

J's energised, but not because of Winterfest - it's just his default emotion. He's always ready for a work out.

"Can't talk right now, little one, Daddy's counting push ups."

Of course, when he's not working out, he's playing games for work - and look, one of his kids wants to join in!

Outside, I noticed a vampire struggling across the yard in the blizzard.

My guess is she was planning to bite someone, but they're all still awake because it's still early.

They invited her in, because the Hatters are nice people who don't want vampires freezing on their porch, but Lilith wasn't super grateful.

She didn't like talking to any of them, and then she left. Not that anyone really minded or noticed.

No one wanted to play with that bear until Lyndon discovered it. Now Abi wants it too.

Just like siblings in real life!

Also maybe this will be the first time one of my sims grows up with the Compassionate trait.

I guess Lyndon taught Ed this? Or maybe it's a boy thing, none of the girls really played in the cupboards.

Winterfest morning, bright and early. Almost everyone is still asleep, except for one tiny Hatter...

...who apparently got up early to destroy snow pals.

Edward, you little troublemaker!

Look at him, stumbling away from the scene of the crime!

<3

Slowly the family starts surfacing from their beds, and it's time to decorate the tree!

There isn't a whole lot of space in the house, so the tree is going in the garden. It'll be easier when it comes to gift time anyway.

Of course, one the tree is up, it's time to sing!

They sang that New Years Eve song that I can never remember the words to. And stopped halfway through a verse. But they tried, and that's the main thing.

I usually end up with far too many screenshots of Winterfest, but somehow this time I just got two cute shots of the toddlers.

I then found Lyndon inside, sporting an illness.

Someone always get ill over Christmas Winterfest, don't they?

Lyndon is given some medicine, and then the dancing begins!

Edward, please. No one is free right now to parent you.

"Is it possible to overseason a tofu turkey?"

You tell me. At this point, Alice has nearly maxed out cooking, so she should make a pretty good grand meal. Not that they have a dining table, so they won't all be sitting down to dinner together.

Alice spent hours working on that meal, just for Cher to throw it on the floor.

Father Winter turns up very late, and a little bit annoyed.

Trouble finding the place, sir? It is a little bit tucked away.

He smiles for the kids though, and that's the main thing.

"How do you guys cope with five kids all the time? That would drive me nuts!"

The next morning, and everyone is at work and school - so Alice spends some quality time with her youngest two, dancing up a storm.

Until the older kids start arriving home with projects and homework.

It's a bit of a battle getting it all done in time!

I guess Lyndon and Izabel have decided to start their projects later - party now, study later, right?

It's dark and cold, who let you outside?

The next morning, Alice quietly blows out some candles and enters adulthood.

And that's not the only birthday today!

They make a lot more noise for Cher's birthday. And it looks like Alice feels a little hard done by. No one even really noticed her birthday.

Cher gained the Slob trait, and her childhood aspiration is Whiz Kid. I'm not making much progress with that aspiration with Izabel, so here's my second shot at completing it.

She's also our second Top Notch Toddler!

I really am going to try and complete Whiz Kid, I've never actually managed it.

Is it me, or has reading to children gotten harder? I have to physically move the book out of the bookcase and onto the floor before the option comes up, and even then if the kid is busy Alice will just put the book back.

Elsewhere in the house, J is being super cute with his youngest.

It's almost like J's Non-Committal trait is non-existent!

Whiz Kids unite!

That chess table is brand new, just for them. Not many kids in the house can say they've had something bought exclusively for them.

This neighbourhood is so pretty in the winter <3

Under the night sky, a couple of kids who should be in bed are constructing a snow pal.

There's always someone who wants to build one. And nine times out of ten, they want to build the snow pal with someone else.

When the sun comes up, the kids get up.

And Cher starts the day by mocking Izabel's face. Which isn't really working out, because Izabel just thinks it's funny.

J did this without me telling him to.

He's a good dad <3

Of course, the minute the flash cards go away, Edward breaks out the paint.

Sigh.

And this is why J stopped the flash cards - he had an urgent need to make a snow angel.

I love you, J. Never change.

"I made popcorn for breakfast, who's in?"

The choice is popcorn, or cake from the fridge.

Both healthy and nutritious options, of course.

Later that morning, it's time for another birthday.

That's why the fridge is so full of cake - all these birthdays! Also I think Alice is a tiny bit too busy to pay Abi any attention, poor kid.

Our first teenager!

Abi gained the Hot-Headed trait, which seems a bit random but I'll roll with it. Her aspiration is Musical Genius, which gives her the Muser trait.

Abi gets a violin for her birthday, and immediately gets to work on that aspiration.

She sounds awful at the moment!

Abi's violin is not the only new toy in the house. Father Winter gave the kids some voidcritters, so I thought it might be neat if they could actually use them.

It looks like Cher doesn't like losing.

But the fun doesn't stop there! These kids have a toy no other kid I've ever played has.

"When did we get lego?!"

Even Alice can't resist it.

"I am the best at this game!"

That night, everyone was dragged away from their violins, lego and whatever else to celebrate the new year arriving.

Except they finished counting down at slightly different times, so Cher was done celebrating by the time the confetti popped.

Alice and J then carried on celebrating by themselves. Don't worry, there won't be a sixth baby!

And that's all I have for now. Let's see what the new year brings the family in the next update! See you soon!
