From the Hart: An OWBC - Recap!

Hello!

After a little bit of a break from the Sims, I'm back and have been poking at my OWBC. I started the challenge in October 2015 and honestly didn't think it would take me this long to finish it! Where has that time gone?

Anyway, I determined to finish it. But seeing as I haven't updated (or even opened the 'hood) in over 12 months, I figured it might be a good time for a recap. The family is massive, and there's so many sims, that a recap might just help us all!

Let's remind ourselves who everyone is!




Welcome back to Pixel Acres!

I actually took this screenshot a couple of days ago, when I reinstalled the Sims 2 and was checking everything was working. It was really nice to see the 'hood again!

There's a lot of households, and all of them can be traced back to our founder:




You all remember Randy Hart, right?

Randy was based on a sim from the Sims Bustin' Out, which I owned for PS2. Randy was on the box art for that game, and I've always thought his aesthetic was kind of neat. I never made it far enough into Bustin' Out to play Randy, so this seemed like a fun way to do that. The name of the neighbourhood, Pixel Acres, also comes from Bustin' Out.






Randy moved into a plot of land and promptly built the Love Shack. Which is definitely more than a shack now! Luckily for Randy he married someone with money, because his generation were not allowed to work.

Speaking of his wife:




Randy, the wonderful slob, somehow managed to charm Countess Kana Jalowitz. She seemed somewhat amused by his flamingos and disgusting table manners. She brought in a lot of money, and a tendency to bite anyone standing nearby.

Randy had five kids in total - four with Kana and one via alien abduction.


Generation One



Blossom was the first baby to arrive. She spent most of her childhood being chased by bees in a futile attempt at the Bug Me Not mini challenge, which I failed at and gave up at after Blossom.




Blossom became a Romance sim, and grew up to be a spare. She is in a relationship with Beth Byall, who she met at uni.

Orchid was the second child, and the first bad apple. Growing up, she did all of your usual Bad Apple activities, like slouching and smustling. And when she was a teenager, being bitten by her mother. Which tanked her aspiration, because Orchid is a Family sim.




Orchid grew up to be a spare, and married Shenene Royce. The couple have one adopted son named Kurt, who is married with his own little one now!

Onyx was the third baby to arrive, and the result of Randy being abducted by aliens. Growing up, he was a happy little chatterbox, and cute as a button. His teen years were cut short by Orchid's sudden vampirism, but I feel like he more than made up for it with his adult life.

Onyx is a Knowledge sim, and very interested in becoming every creature possible. I actually don't have many pictures of what he looked like before his transformations. But more on that later.

Onyx married a simself named Keika (The White Legacy, Clitheroe: a BaRKC) after Randy introduced them. Onyx and Keika had four kids together, but Onyx has ten children overall. More on him (and his many kids) in a bit, as Onyx was named heir.

Rainbow was Randy & Rainbow's fourth child, born later on in life as a result of ACR. Randy was already an elder when she was conceived. As a result, Rainbow was raised alongside the second generation, and I have no idea how I coped with that many sims in the house. As a teen, she rolled Romance, and started a casual romance with Tommy Ottomas.




Their relationship was supposed to remain casual, however Tommy came to university because Rainbow wanted him there, and the pair of them share a house now they've graduated.

Dazzle, nicknamed Daz, was a very late in life ACR pregnancy. Generation Two were beginning to head to college as he was born! Randy passed away whilst Daz was a toddler, and once Daz became a child, he and Kana moved in with Blossom, Beth, Binaree & Jasmine, to free up space in the main house. It was getting too stressful to play the main house.

I then stopped playing that family while Daisy & Dominic were at college, so Daz will be raised alongside generation three, even though he's actually generation one!

Anyway, there were two more important members of the first generation:




Brian Bigfoot was thrilled when he was first invited to live with the Harts, but his enthusiasm tanked over the long time he lived with them. I suppose there's only so much cleaning and maintenance you can do before questioning your life choices.

Brian built Binaree in an attempt to make his life easier. Binaree had other plans though, running amok and finding humans attractive. Binaree was initially attracted to a simself named Pony (the Pokemon Legacy, Silver Bend: BACC) but eventually fell in love and settled down with Jasmine Rai.




Binaree and Jasmine moved in with Blossom and Beth, and got married. The pair of them had a couple of kids - one they adopted, and one that Jasmine carried with DNA donated from a walk-by (Jihoon Hsu). Daisy Rai was adopted, and her brother Dominic arrived shortly after.

Generation Two





As I mentioned earlier, Onyx was voted heir, and married Keika the simself. He actually married her twice, having died once in order to become a zombie.




Rather than persuing a career or an aspiration, Onyx dedicated his adulthood to becoming every creature possible, which was a lot of fun. The Creature Quest also led to the installation of a shower on the porch. He looks so different to how he did when he was younger!

Onyx had ten children, four of which were with Keika. The other six are plantsims. The kids (in "birth" order):




Lennon is technically the oldest of the generation. Lennon's favourite things to do are smile at everyone and be excessively nice. He's the most adorable little Family sim. Once he became a teenager, Lennon fell for Daisy Rai and never looked back.




Lennon and Daisy got married after college and had two sons, Dobie and Murphy.

Despite being spawned after Lennon, Basil obviously grew up before due to being a plantsim. Still, Basil lived at home for most of the generation, helping raise the kids and going on the family vacation. Despite being a Romance sim, Basil found he really liked caring for the family and decided to have one of his own.




Basil is in a relationship with Heather Huffington, who he met via a blind date, and the couple have two kids - Dan, Basil's cured plantspawn, and Hannah, the daughter of both Basil & Heather.

Basil also gained all of the vacation mementos for the Bon Voyage bonus, so the family lives with a bigfoot named Alon.

Paul was the second Bad Apple of the challenge. He spent his childhood in a dragon costume, and his favourite hobbies were sleeping and dancing. As a teen, Paul rolled Pleasure and somehow scored a first kiss all by himself from Jenna Couderc the paper girl.

Pleasure wasn't really the best aspiration for Paul, and he was miserable all the time, so he changed it in college and became a Grilled Cheese sim.




The change of aspiration did Paul the world of good, and his life calmed down. Paul married his teenage sweetheart, Jenna, and they had a daughter, Kimberly.

Ringo was originally going to be the last of Onyx and Keika's kids, but fate (read: ACR) had other plans. As a result of growing up in a household of 10+ sims, Ringo somewhat got lost in the mix and didn't get a whole lot of attention. As a teen rolled Knowledge, and started dating Ryan Ottomas.




Ringo and Ryan remained together throughout university, and ended up getting married after. The couple adopted a child, a girl named Nora.

An accidental ACR baby, Strawberry was the youngest of Onyx and Keika's combined kids. And somehow, despite how nice the Harts are, Strawberry ended up with only 1 nice point. She spent her childhood singing on the karaoke machine. She rolled Popularity as a teen, and was named heir - the heir poll had resulted in a three way tie, and Strawberry was picked by a dice roll.

More on Strawberry later, when we get to her generation properly.

Onyx had five more plant children, all of which were spawned after Strawberry became heir:




At the beginning of Strawberry's generation, I randomly decided it would be an excellent time to take on a new mini challenge - the Quad Pod. So Onyx promptly spawned up four more kids - (left to right) Inchworm, Cerulean, Canary and Sunset.

The Quad Pod stayed at the Love Shack until adulthood, and then left to start their mission. Which was successful! They reached the top of their careers, and some of them even found love along the way.




Inchworm fell for Kelly Cwik, and she pretty much ran the household during the day while the Quad Pod slept. The couple got married, and had twin daughters, Bonnie and Marcie.




Cerulean met Ashley Pitts online, and sparks flew when the couple met up in real life. Currently they're just dating, but who knows what the future holds.




After some dating mishaps, Canary met Gordon Wolosenko, and the pair of them became inseperable. Canary and Gordon have a daughter named Kitt.

That brings us to Onyx's last child:




Nettle was spawned mainly to round off Onyx's brood to 10 kids. Although he also was super helpful when it came to gardening and obtaining a wishing well.

Phew, that's all of the main line kids! There's a couple of extras this generation that are useful to know:




The son of Orchid and Shenene, Kurt is the only cousin to the mainline, meaning he got to spend his college years in the main household. Despite being adopted, he fits in perfectly with the Hart family.

Kurt married Jane Stacks, and the couple had a daughter named Marie.

Despite not being related to the family, Daisy and Dominic spend all of their time with the Harts. Daisy ended up becoming Lennon's girlfriend, and later wife, whilst Dominic...didn't really do anything. He wasn't interested in finding a partner, and didn't really leave me with much of an impression. He's probably the dullest sim I've ever played, poor guy.


Generation Three



Strawberry was named heir, and given the task of bringing in the final generation. Unfortunately there was a problem - Strawberry wasn't super interested in dating, let alone settling down. Her teenage boyfriend, Gavin Newson, followed her to uni, but she never really rolled any wants for him. So Strawberry decided to explore her options and date a few more guys - Sean the college house placeholder, Sanjay Ramaswami & Jonah Powers.

After graduation, Strawberry still didn't have strong feelings about any of the guys, and wasn't interested in settling down, so I randomised the list of her love interests, and the top three guys became the fathers for her mandatory three children.

With that taken care of, Strawberry turned her attention to her lifetime want of becoming Captain Hero, and succeeded. Although even that seemed to make her bored. Honestly, I've never played a sim like her.

Strawberry has three children, all boys:




Oli is the son of Gavin Newson, and boy does he take after him! Most of Gavin's childhood has been overshadowed by other things happening, the downside of such a busy household. Maybe his teen years will be his time to shine!




Patrick is our Bad Apple, and the son of Jonah Powers. He pretty much looks exactly like him. Patrick is pretty much nocturnal at this point, and his favourite hobbies are night swimming and bouncing on beds people want to sleep in.




Craig is the youngest, and the son of Sanjay Ramaswami. He just grew into a child and is totally adorable - I can't wait to see what he gets up to!

There's one other 'person' living on the main lot this generation:




The family's newest servo! Mad Cat was built and powered up because the Love Shack was absolutely disgusting. None of the Harts can really be trusted to clean up after themselves. He's generally pretty awesome - he stole back the gnome after an insane amount of time, and then celebrated by going for a swim.

Now for the generation three cousins...brace yourself, there's a lot of them. They turn up in the background sometimes, and I'll probably recap them all when the generation hits college. But for now, let me list them off for you:




Dan is the oldest of the generation, but not by much. He's Basil's cured plantspawn, although I can't remember why I had Basil do that.




Hannah is the daughter of Basil and Heather.




Dobie is the oldest son of Lennon and Daisy




Murphy is the youngest son of Lennon and Daisy.




Nora is the adopted daughter of Ringo and Ryan.




Kimberly is the daughter of Paul and Jenna.




Bonnie is the daughter of Inchworm and Kelly. She's twins with Marcie.




Marcie is the daughter of Inchworm and Kelly. She's twins with Bonnie.




Marie is the daughter of Kurt and Jane, so she's technically a second cousin to the main kids.




Kitt is the daughter of Canary and Gordon.


...And I think we're just about there! Phew, that was a lot of information! Hopefully this helps to remind you all of the family, so we can get started on some new updates - and see this thing through to the end!
