From the Hart: An OWBC - 3.6

Last time, we saw Patrick being a very popular and nocturnal Bad Apple. Oli wished for a girlfriend, and his prayers were answered with Melanie Do. After that, Strawberry took her boys to Twikkii Island for the generation vacation. There was some sightseeing, Oli got addicted to making sandcastles, Craig was mean and chinless, and Strawberry (sometimes reluctantly) spent time with the locals.

And we got this picture of the kids, which is the last photo we need for the Family Scrapbook bonus!




We rejoin the family to find the kids playing in the street.

Despite the fact Craig is often mean to him, Patrick doesn't seem to take it personally, which is nice.




We joined the family on a Sunday, which is the perfect time to have all of the cousins over. That's ten extra kids on the lot.

I was kind of curious to see if this computer could handle it. And it managed, there was only the tiniest bit of lag.




"There's...so many of them..."

Craig is obviously delighted by the thought of socialising.








The chaos that followed was as expected, really. You can't be a member of this family and not know how to slap dance.






"Melanie! I'm so glad you're here, the house is FULL of kids."

"But Oli, I thought you liked kids?"

"I do, just not twelve at once. Besides, I really wanted to see you."




Oli has had the want to Go Steady with Melanie for most of his trip to Twikkii, so I obliged.

I did not expect him to follow it up with a noogie. How romantic.




While Oli and Melanie get romantic on the porch, Craig is inside trying to make an effort with his cousins.

He looks like he's holding back his mean streak while talking to Hannah. Like he's pretending he cares about what she's saying.




"...Oli, did you invite me over to watch you clean?"

"Cleaning is more fun with your around!"




"I walked all the way over here, Oli, we're going to spend time together. Put the mop away."




"Mum, I'm so glad you're home! There's so many people here!"

"Is your brother making out with someone on the porch?!"




Strawberry sent all the visitors home once she got inside, but overall it was a good day.

"I love spending time with my grandchildren!"

He really does. He taught at least three of them how to chest pound.




Later that night, Patrick maxes out his Music and Dance enthusiasm.

Which is great and all, but the kid really should be in bed.




That said, Oli isn't in bed yet either, but he will be soon.

Mad Cat feels that turkey is the best dish to serve just before bedtime.




Morning arrives, and everyone is up and at 'em! I had to use a stereo to get Patrick up and moving, but even so. Mad Cat has the house to himself this morning.

Doesn't Strawberry look bored of being able to fly?






Mad Cat made the most of his free time, in case you were wondering.

He also stole back the gnome after one of the cousins nicked it. You'd think being family they'd know not to do that.




"Why is this townie kid dressed like me?"

The real question is why you bothered to bring anyone home, you have a spare hour in between school and work.




Oli got a job in Oceanography, and apparently this is his uniform. Seems legit.

Onyx wanted Oli to be an overachiever, and Oli has more than enough skills to top Oceanography. Plus the scholarship money will be nice.




Meanwhile Patrick comes home from school and immediately goes swimming.

Which must have started a trend, because Craig rolled the want to buy a pool slide. Not that he used it after I bought it. No one did.




"So what's the next move when you hula? Guys? Come on, I have to learn! Everyone else knows it!"

Your dance teachers are a little...preoccupied, Mad Cat.




It's nearly midnight, Patrick, go to bed.




It's nearly 1am, Patrick, go to bed!




What do you do when most of the household is asleep? Jump rope of course! Mad Cat's really good at it now.

"I am living my best life."




Onyx rolled the want to cast a spell. I'm not convinced he's ever cast a spell in his life, so I figured why not.

Of course, there's not really room in the house for his cauldron, so Onyx gets to spend the night making reagents in the yard. Which actually worked in his favour, the garden in autumn has a very supernatural aesthetic.




You know, until your servo comes out to rake leaves.

"Do you have to do that now, Mad Cat?"

"I just wanted company."




He must have really wanted company, because by dawn he was watching Strawberry sleep.




That morning, Archie grew from a puppy into a dog.

I must admit, I had kind of forgotten about him. Also, there are two (full) bowls of dog food on the lot, and I keep getting the pop up about my starving dog, so Archie isn't the brightest crayon in the pack, bless him.




He may look ambivalent, but Craig has wanted that A+ for awhile. Trust me, he's delighted on the inside.




Oh look, someone found the toy helicopter.

I swear a whole generation has passed since someone played it. Patrick promptly put it down at 6pm, and it'll probably never be played with again.




Also, I somehow missed the sparkles, but it's Patrick's birthday!!

He grew up okay-ish in terms of aspiration, and rolled Fortune. I think he looks a lot like his Dad, Jonah Powers, but I feel like there's some of Strawberry in him somewhere.




Because I kind of forgot, and because I don't want the gnome stolen this late in the game, the family didn't hold a party for Patrick's birthday.

Craig did have a want to invite someone over though, and Nettle was his closest friend.




And I was so busy watching Craig and Nettle that I missed Strawberry booty calling Julian Cooke.

He didn't hang about long afterwards, so don't expect Strawberry to suddenly want a wedding.




So while everyone else is socialising, Pat spent the evening...doing this.

Seriously, it's all he does. In fact:




This was the following day.

Patrick did take a break to go to school and have a nap, and then it was straight back to jumping on the couch. I'd kind of forgotten that couch was there, to be honest.




The following afternoon was Craig's birthday, which is exciting. I can't quite believe how close to the end we are.




"Woo! Birthday!"

"What did you wish for, Craig?"

Hopefully a more defined chin, bless him <3




Craig grew up well, gained a more defined chin/jawline, and rolled Romance. That seems pretty full circle to me, given that this whole challenge started with a Romance sim.

Craig's LTW is to become a Rock God.




The gypsy matchmaker must have heard it was birthday time and dropped off a gift - another genie lamp! Despite the fact it's Craig's birthday, Oli makes the first wish.

The genie looks so concerned, all Oli asked for was Peace of Mind. (He wanted to raise 20 puppies or kittens, and that's so not happening)




Craig may be the one who wants to be a Rock God, but I feel like Patrick has the most practise at it.




The following day, the entire family heads out together.

"This place still exists?"

Yep, it's the family's Boolprop Clubhouse, now named Club Rubb after the club in Bustin' Out, the game that inspired our founder, Randy Hart. The club needs to get to level 10 before the end of the challenge, and currently it's sitting at rank 3.




Entry tickets are cheap, the place is decked out with snapdragons, there's a shower in the back, and tents in the yard.

So basically, the Harts get to mess around while we wait for the business to rank up. Time to infect everyone in the neighbourhood with the Slap Dance.




Strawberry, however, is taking a different strategy to ranking up the business.

That guy is Sean, the old placeholder for the college lot, and Strawberry's old flame. I don't think she's seen him since graduating, but they picked up right where they left off.




That night, Patrick starting causing trouble.

I'm guessing his aspiration is super low, because he slapped Oli out of the blue. I figured I'd just try to keep them apart as much as possible.




Can you tell a witch dropped by?

Aww, so close.

Don't worry, Pat, no one saw.




The morning comes, and Patrick decides that his next victim is Craig. Now both Oli and Craig dislike him which is less than ideal to say the least.




"Should we...should we do something about that?"

"Nah, probably best we don't get involved."

Somehow, Patrick won that fight.




He then decided to go out and attack Oli, and that's when I decided I had to do something.

So the family all went home, dropped off Onyx and Patrick, and came back to continue the quest for rank 10.




And I finally cured Strawberry.

She'd had the want for ages, but then when I cured her the memory was negative, so goodness knows what Strawberry wants.




With Onyx and Patrick at home, that leaves Strawberry, Mad Cat, Oli and Craig to run the business.

With the snapdragons, bathroom & tents, it was surprisingly doable. They stayed on the lot for daaaays.




I think they even enjoyed themselves a little bit.




It was pretty neat seeing who dropped by. Countless family members, of course, but also others.

That's Priya Ramaswami, Craig's Dad's wife. She took an instant disliking to Craig, it's like she knew he was her husband's love child!




Sean could continue to drop by, I think he might be the family's most loyal customer.

I can't imagine why.




My simself even dropped by to help boost the rankings. And heartfart Basil.




I probably should have had Craig wish for Peace of Mind before starting this madness, because by the third day or so, his aspiration was dipping a little.

Luckily he rolled daily wants for karaoke, hula dancing, and talking about his hobbies. The want to go on a date and have his first kiss haven't budged though, they're first on the list once the family gets home.




"Another day of this, can you believe it?"

"I don't know what day it is, Strawberry. Or how to play poker."




"Ugh, romantic interactions."

Strawberry's old romantic interest really do help the business, even if she's not excited to see them. That's Sanjay, Craig's Dad, she hasn't seen him since Craig was conceived.




Strawberry also didn't say no to the idea of new romantic interests.

A customer offered her a blind date, and Strawberry took it, and that's how Jimmy Phoenix ended up sitting naked on the couch. With a servo watching through the window.

Maybe give them some privacy, Mad Cat.




"Mum, do you have to?! Gross!"




Given Strawberry's history with romance and indifference, I'd argue that's not a smart move, Jimmy.

But you do you.




Thank God for that!

So who threw us the last star?




Sean, after a second round of hot tub woohoo.

Yeah, it's a bit of strange business.




"So it's agreed, we're never doing that again."

"I think I need therapy."

"I think I need poker lessons."

Even though he was the first born of the generation, Oli has never been the centre of attention. He was, however, a wonderful older brother to Patrick and Craig when they were smaller.
