The Hatter Name Game: Chapter 8
May. 25th, 2020 01:09 pm
Hello!
I was storming ahead with this challenge, and then got distracted by Animal Crossing and various other things. But I'm back and it's Name Game time!
Last time, Cher met L Faba and took a trip into the Realm of Magic, where she convinced Morgyn Ember to turn her into a spellcaster. Abi had a birthday, grew into a YA and moved out. Cher got a new frog familiar and took it everywhere. Alice decided to go out dancing to bond with her teenage and adult children, only to have Cher start a duel on the dancefloor. Despite their differences, Alice promised Cher she would always be there if she needed her. And Edward grew into a teen.

We rejoin the family to find Alice and J being cute <3
I don't have the pack hot tubs come in, but we got a free one in an update, so I was pretty excited that my sims could finally have a hot tub!

Anyway, it's Saturday morning, and the siblings are sitting down to watch TV together.
Not that Cher seems happy about it.

They must have gotten bored and wandered off pretty quickly, because J and Izabel ended up commandeering the living room for a dancing.

Later that day, Cher's afternoon was interrupted.
"You called me from work to challenge me to a duel?"
"It couldn't wait."
"Apparently not."

Cher, honey, I feel like the hat kind of ruins the menacing look.

"No hard feelings, right, Cher?"
"Oh yeah. You called me out of work, so I'll get less wages, and then magically threw me to the ground. No hard feelings at all."

A fresh new morning arrives, and Lyndon's having slip 'n' slide for breakfast.
It's his birthday, he can do what he likes <3

Time for Lyndon to become a young adult - and I even got him the zombie cake he had as a kid.
I miss them when they leave, can you tell?

All grown up! I think he takes mostly after Alice, but it's hard to say.
Lyndon's final trait is Unflirty. He also grew up Responsible and Compassionate. And promptly moved to the spare house in Newcrest where Abi is currently living.

And then there were three. And Cher's glowing magic frog.

That night, Abi called up and invited Cher out partying. And given that she'd spent most of the day skilling, I figured it would be nice for Cher to take a break and go.
Cher apparently feels otherwise.

Try not to look so bummed, Cher.
Some people would love to slack off skilling to go party.

She seemed to like fire dancing a bit more, at least.

Back home, autumn is in full swing, and it's giving Alice ideas.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking, J?"
I'm sure one of them had a whim to do that last autumn. I'm glad I was finally able to fulfil it.

Rough day, Cher?

Look's like Lyndon's back for a visit already.
"My house is great and all, but it doesn't have you guys in it."
Come back whenever you like. All of you <3

Less siblings at home means less beds needed, which is great because Cher can finally fit a cauldron in the house! Hopefully she learns some useful potions.

"Would you like a hand with your project, Iz?"
If looks could kill...Cher, maybe let your sister get on with it herself.

There wasn't much point in Izabel completing that project, because the following day was her birthday.

I'm going to miss having Izabel around <3
Izabel gained the Bro trait (like her Dad!!) as well as the Responsible trait.

"Are you okay, Mum?"
"Yes, yes, I'm fine. Happy birthday, sweetie."

"I can't believe it, they're all leaving."
Yes, but Cher will be back, and with a partner and grandbabies! You'll love it.

Plus, you'll always have J <3

A new day arrives, and Cher submits her university application.
Confession: Cher is going to be the first sim I play through university. I kept meaning to play it with other sims and just never got round to it. So this will be all new to me!

She takes her mind off the application anxiety but practising magic in the yard.
Because how else are you meant to cope?

And she swaggers off to work that afternoon looking pretty confident.

The magical distractions continued after her shift, though. She's so close to levelling up.

"So how's it going?"
"Oh you know. Terrified no uni will want me, the usual."
"I meant your magic."
"Oh! Fine. I lost another duel, but it's fine. I'm going to fly a broom for the first time later, I think."

Yeah, "fly" a broom. Not as easy as it looks, I take it?

The following day, everyone comes over for Harvestfest.
Which not only makes Alice happy, but makes me ridiculously happy too.

And then L Faba came to the door, looking kind of sad.
"It's Harvestfest, L, don't you have family to be with?"
"No, and the Realm is kind of quiet on holidays."
"Well...if you can put up with my mad lot, you're welcome to join us."

Inside, Izabel was hanging out with Alice while she cooks.
"Mum are you singing? And maybe slow down with that seasoning."
"All my babies are home, Iz, I'll season all I want!"

I absolutely loved getting them all together <3

"You turned our old bedroom into your magic room? And didn't take down any of our old art?"
"I can't believe Mum kept all these drawings."
"And I can't believe our sister is casually making potions in here while we watch."

I got far too much joy out of the dad-and-daughter bro hug.
I checked afterwards, and Abi is a Mommy's Girl while Lyndon is a Mommy's Boy. Izabel didn't have a favourite, but part of me still thinks it should J.

Normality resumed the day after Harvestfest, with a full day of work and school...and then a birthday.
A very important birthday.

Our heiress, Cher, is all grown up!
Her final trait was Goofball, and she's both Responsible and a Mediator. And a Mommy's Girl, apparently, although that took me by surprise.

Cher celebrates her birthday by gaining a new familiar, although I can't for the life of me remember what she called it.
Probably something simple & basic, like Cosmo. I'll check next time I open the game.

Cher spends the last of her time at home stocking up on the Plentiful Needs potion, and then she heads off to uni...

Fireworks? It's like they were expecting her!
Cher has enrolled at the Foxbury Institute to study a distinguished degree in Physics. But we'll see how she gets on with that next time!
Until then! :)
