The Hatter Name Game: Chapter 10

Hello again!
I'm pretty close to having generation 4 born in game, and I'm still playing catch up with updates, so you get another one!

Last time, Cher started college! She met new people, she played juice pong and studied pretty hard. Meanwhile, her dorm mates trashed the place! After not making any new friends, Cher realised she was pretty happy to spend time with her magical friends in the Realm. Cher got high grades in all of her exams, and was completely oblivious to her parents checking up on her occasionally.

We rejoin Cher at the start of her second term!

And of course, she's already studying. Classes don't start until tomorrow, but she's taking four classes again, so she has a lot on her plate. There's also something else for Cher to do this term - she needs to find a partner. We're going to need some kids at some point to keep this Name Game going!




The spouse search can wait, however, as it's a holiday and Cher would rather spend it catching up with people while she has no classes.

It's time for a New Years Eve trip into the realm!




"I know we're not doing the countdown here, but it's nice for you to join us for a drink, Cher."

"It's so good to see you all!"




As the evening wore on, and her friends started getting into deep conversations, Cher slipped over to the cauldron, eager to top up her supply of potions.

The potion of Plentiful Needs had been a lifesaver last term, and her supplies were beginning to run low.




Unfortunately, Cher must have made a mistake, because she messed the potion up again.

Not that the Sages seemed to notice. They were too busy toasting to the new year.




And somehow, she still made it back in time for the countdown.




Cher's room mates decided to celebrate by blocking up the bathroom with a guitar solo. Naturally.

Luckily Cher was in bed and didn't need urgent access to a toilet.






The following day, the first one of a new year, Cher heads out in search of a chess set. Cher needs to gain some more skills for her aspiration, and her logic skill is pretty close to what she needs so I thought I'd work on that.

Plus, it's an excuse to head outside for a bit.




And see things like this! I didn't know there was a castle!




Back at the dorms later that day, Cher invites Grace over for a catch up, although she didn't stay long - probably all the trash lying around the place.




Trash that Cher likes to dance in.

First activity on a Monday morning! Classes are back in session and this is how Cher is celebrating.






And the grind begins again! Cher had to quit the football team last term, I just couldn't keep on top of it all. So Cher is all about grades now!

It is fun having something to work towards, though.






Still, Cher is allowed to take the occasional break.

To go to the Humour and Hijinks Festival, like her mother did all those seasons ago.




She told a few jokes then got straight back to her homework, which I think she's enjoying more than the actual comedy.






Do you think she even knows that her team won?

Cher may not care about it, but the cash boost from the win was very much appreciated.




And so the days begin to take on a routine, of classes and homework during the day...




...and socialising in the evenings! No festival or outing tonight, L Faba has come for a visit.

"So my Mum called today, and asked when I'm going to settle down, can you believe that?"

"What did you say to her?"

"I made some excuses about homework and hung up. I still haven't found a partner, and I really don't want to talk about it with my Mum."

"There isn't anyone you like at all?"




"Well," Cher smiled, taking L Faba's hands, "There is this one person I think I might like...I've known her a really long time, she's one of my closest friends..."

L Faba didn't say anything. Cher put her arm around her waist.

"Don't make me actually admit that it's you, L."




"You know I'm a Sage, right?" L Faba said, carefully, "Getting involved with you could be...tricky."

"Why? You've never offered me any magical training. I've worked for my power."

"I know. But others might...speculate. I'm just saying, it might be difficult."

"I'm willing to take that chance."

L Faba shook her head slightly, but finally cracked a smile.




"Alright," L Faba said, as someone entered the room, "I guess we can give it a go."

That's Nobuya, by the way, the guy who followed Cher in the last chapter. He looks a little disappointed to see Cher and L Faba together.

"I was planning to ask Cher out!"

Yeaaah, you're not really her type, Nobuya.




The following day, and Cher is taking the broomstick to class.

Or at least she's attempting to. At what point do they master the broom? Cher is a level 2 or 3 spellcaster at this point and she's still scrambling more often than not.




In between classes that day Cher had time for a cinnabun, and now I want one too.




And she had time for a little bit of football. She's not on the team anymore, but she still enjoys it.

Someday I'll have a sim take on the activities again. 




In the evening, after classes, L Faba drops by again, and the pair of them find a bench behind the dorm where they won't be interrupted by Cher's dorm mates.




"I'm sorry about last night," Cher said, suddenly.

"What for?"

"I kind of put you on the spot. It wasn't really fair," Cher rose to her feet.




"I just really like you. And I haven't liked anyone before."

L Faba smiled, "I was just warning you it might not be easy, I didn't say I didn't want to try."






"Hey, L, I have a really dumb idea!"

"...what?"






A fully clothed shower, of course! 




L Faba immediately takes a nap after the shower, so Cher tends to the piles of trash.

And by "tends to" I mean "plays in". Please Cher, for my own sanity, pick some of them up.




With the living room a little less gross, Cher makes a start on some studying. I have no doubt she's going to ace her exams at the end of term.




The following day, Cher has youth potion for breakfast.

University takes so long to play and she's still got another term to go after this one. I don't want her having her adult birthday before she graduates, so I'm tinkering with the ages a bit. Luckily we only have to have four kids this generation.




Nobuya also followed her out again.

"Awkwaaaard..."




Still, Cher makes an effort to get to know Nobuya a little bit. And this adorable sim who walked up and joined them - I later found out she's a professor. Her name is Lana.




Cher actually wanted to cloud watch with Lana, but somehow I don't think Lana is really paying attention.




Later that evening, the dorm is visited by another celebrity, although this one is not as famous as Judith Ward. Venessa is only one star I think.

Either way, she somehow immediately hits it off with Cher.




"...So you're telling me there's an entire realm of magic up there somewhere?"

"Yeah kind of. Someone once told me that it's everywhere and nowhere, all at once."

"That is so cool!" 





In fact, Cher and Venessa were really good friends by the end of the night, and I barely had to help at all.

I love it when sims choose their own friends. 




Morning arrived, and it's the worst day of term - finals day. Although I don't think Cher's dorm mates got the memo, they seem to be partying like it's just an ordinary morning.

Maybe that's how they cope with stress.




And despite all of her studying, Cher is actually worried about these finals.

Like last time, Cher immediately finds the school spirit people after her finals are done. Something to take her mind off it all.




Of course, there was nothing to worry about.

Cher heads to bed, thrilled with her grades and a scholarship paying her tuition. Look how happy she is !




Alice drops by unannounced in the middle of the night, looking sad.

Don't worry, your baby will be home soon. Just one more term.




The next day was Love Day, and Cher had a decision to make.

She hadn't heard from L Faba at all since the night with the shower, meanwhile Venessa was already there when Cher woke up and happy to see her.

"I got you a daisy...for Love Day."

"Really? I love it!"




Venessa smiled as Cher pulled her into her arms, "I thought you were seeing someone?"

"I thought so too, but she's not returning my calls."

"You don't think you should wait? See if she gets in touch?"

Cher leaned in and kissed Venessa.




After a moment, Cher pulled back and smiled, "No, I don't want to wait. This feels right."

And that is that for this time!

Venessa genuinely just waltzed into Cher's life and the two of them just clicked, so I decided to roll with it. I just can't resist it when sims choose for themselves! L Faba seems lukewarm and unsure about Cher - maybe they're better off as friends?

But we'll see the fallout from this whole thing next time - as Cher goes into her final university term!
