From the Hart: An OWBC - Interlude!!

beanstalk_simsThe end of the OWBC is within touching distance, which is very exciting as we've been on this journey for just over five years now - I did not think it would take me this long!
However, I had some technical issues which means the end of the challenge is going to look a bit different to how I intended...

Ah, the Sim Bin.
Sure, it's empty right now, but it's bursting with potential, isn't it? Anyone could come through here, seeking a new life-
Oh.
Someone's coming.
Oli Hart, the oldest of the generation three boys, suddenly appeared. He was immediately confused.
Where was his mother? Or his brothers? Or his girlfriend?
Moments later, Craig Hart appeared. And he, like Oli, was puzzled.
"What's happening, Oli? I was just about to make a wish at the well...and now we're here?"
The last of the three Hart boys arrived out of the nothingness, Patrick Hart. Unlike the other two, he seemed fine. Not worried in the slightest that they were now occupying a void of some sort.
Oli and Craig started to squabble over what they should do.
Their argument was interrupted by the arrival of a couch. Which just added to the confusion.
"Okay, but where did it come from??"
"Well, where did we come from?! How did we get here?"
Oli and Craig decided it was best not to question where things were coming from, and sat down to continue arguing about what they should do next. Might as well be comfortable while they plan, right?
Patrick still seemed unbothered by it all.
"Maybe he's broken." Craig suggested, unkindly, with a smirk.
"How many times have I told you to be nice to your brother?"
The boys heads whipped round, "Mum!"
"It's so good to see you all," She said.
Craig looked confused, "Are you feeling alright, Mum?"
The mother he remembered had always been apathetic. Sure, she was there if they needed her, but it was clear she hoped they wouldn't ask her for anything.
Who was this lady? Because she certainly wasn't Strawberry Hart.
It was like Strawberry had heard him, because she began answering questions he hadn't said aloud.
"I'm almost your mother, but not quite. For starters, I've got the wrong nose."
All three boys looked at her blankly.
Strawberry sighed, "Boys. I'm not really here. I'm just appearing to pass on some information."
"Pixel Acres is gone," she said, simply, "Our home, our family, our karaoke machine...it's all gone. You three are all that are left."
There was a stunned silence.
"But you boys are strong, and resilient. You have, like, five nice points between you, so that should help. Take no crap from whatever world you're about to enter, boys. Because it's up to you to continue my grandfather's legacy."
"Stick together, okay?" She smiled at them all, which was unnerving because Strawberry had rarely smiled in her previous life, "Oh and my heir is-"
But it was too late for announcements, the Sim Bin was empty once more.
No one can live in the void, not for long. So where had the boys gone?

Okay, enough trying to ~plot~ my way around technical issues, let's real talk. Last summer, I only had to graduate the heir to complete the challenge, which was great and totally do-able...only my hard drive met an unfortunate end.
My boyfriend went to wipe my sister's hard drive, my boyfriend accidentally wiped ours. There are several morals to that story - don't attempt computer repairs at 2am, make back ups of your saved games more frequently, store your back ups in a separate place - but it left me a little fed up that I had been so close to finishing the OWBC, and now had nothing left.
Well, I painstakingly recreated my sims, didn't I? Luckily I'd used a template face for Randy so it was easy enough. I did get Strawberry's nose wrong, that's no joke, she's got Onyx's when she should have Keika's, but I can go back and sort that out. It doesn't really matter anyway, all three boys ended up with their father's noses.
So yeah! We're starting over with fresh, new sims, right at the end of the challenge. But I had to finish. I just had to. I'm so freaking close.
Oh, and Strawberry's heir? Well...
The heir poll ended in a tie between Patrick & Craig, and I picked Craig based on the fact I had his personality written down. Patrick's was a total mystery, as he's the bad apple. I have given Patrick a vaguely similar personality to his brothers, but there's no knowing if that's accurate.
Anyway! So that's where we are now!
In the next update, our heir and his brothers will start college, and start the final leg of this OWBC journey!
