Last time, Lilith and Candy moved out so they could have their own space. Max grew into a YA, moved out and enrolled at university, and he also proposed to his high school sweetheart, Taeko Kibo-Bell. They haven't set a wedding date yet. Meanwhile, Dolly grew into a teenager and decided to remain a vampire - although she rebelled against the Good Vampire image her parents strive for. She also began dating both Wolfgang Munch and Malcolm Landgraab.

Well, it looks like someone went to the vampire disco while I was away.
Dolly is also gently burning to death because she has no sunlight immunity. Get inside this instant!

Sunlight immunity is on my to do list for Dolly, although I'm not really in a rush.
Caleb is helping out by teaching her a few tricks, though.

It's kind of neat playing a "real" vampire for a change - I love Kirby and Caleb but they're not your typical vampires.

Because it's spring, everyone in the save has decided they want a bee box.
Kirby is the only one I gave into. Look how happy it made her, though. Any subsequent bee stings are entirely her fault, though.

Well, in for a penny, in for a pound! Kirby's got crickets as well.
She seems really happy about this. Imagine how happy she'd be if I bought the new pack and gave her chickens...

So while Kirby takes care of all the pets - new and old - what is her daughter up to?

Having a snack, of course.

Is it any wonder Dolly's going through a rebellious phase when her parents are the least vampire-like vampires ever?
Caleb was literally up all night making cookies. And I love him for it.

Kirby got a new bee box, so Caleb gets a garden extension.
He was only really growing vampire-related crops, so I extended the garden to give him some ordinary fruit and veg. Maybe he can use the produce during his next all-night baking session.

They also got a bird feeder, because I totally forgot they existed.
Caleb really enjoyed watching those low-poly birds <3

They're also giving Bella a lot of attention this season.
With home life going so smoothly, I decided to spend the evening out on the town with Dolly.

Dolly heads to the teen hangout in Newcrest, where happens to stumble across a teenage boy she hasn't romanced yet - Jeb Harris.

Dolly switches on the vampire allure and invites him on a date...
...and before you know it she's scored another kiss for her aspiration. That's part two complete!

Just a young vampire on a date in the city with her bag-wearing boyfriend. Totally average couple.

The date ended on gold, in case you were wondering.

Back at the house, Caleb is swimming despite the fact it's pretty cold.

I love that Bella decided to swim alongside Caleb though! <3

Dawn arrives and so does the Flower Bunny - it's Bunny Day!

Caleb gave Kirby a rose, she gave him a tulip.
He was not happy with his tulip, despite his smile.

Bunny Day seemed like the perfect opportunity for Dolly to invite over one of her boyfriends - they've already met Wolfgang, I guess it's time for Malcolm to meet the parents.

Unfortunately for Malcolm, Dolly was thirsty. He gave her permission to drink from him, but I think he was kind of nervous about it - he tried to distract her by gifting her a rose.

Well, this was bound to happen eventually.

Kirby entered the living room and cleared her throat, "Dolly, that's enough."

An uneasy silence fell over them all, as Dolly changed out of her dark form.
"Malcolm, I think you should head home," Kirby said, not taking her eyes off Dolly.
"Right," Malcolm smiled at Dolly, "Catch you later."
Dolly rolled her eyes, but said nothing.

The moment Malcolm left, the lecture started.
"Dolly, you know the rules. While you live under our roof, you will not drink from other sims!"
"I asked for his permission. He didn't do anything he didn't want to do."
"Regardless! I will not argue with you about this Dolly, the rules are the rules!"

Dolly was silent for a moment, before muttering, "Whatever."
She sloped off to her room, leaving Kirby alone. Kirby let out a breath she didn't realise she'd been holding.

Kirby found Caleb in the kitchen, and caught him up on what had just happened.
"...and who knows how long she's been drinking from sims! And her boyfriend, no less!"
"Kirby," Caleb said, "Just breathe for a second. I know you're upset, but you have to calm down."
"Calm down?!"
He pulled her close.

"We'll figure something out. But give Dolly the afternoon to cool off. In fact, you both need time to cool off. We'll talk about it later on."

Dolly did eventually come back out of her room - to spend time with Wolfgang.
Caleb looks like he's trying to pretend he's not there.

He loves cooking so much he made a grand meal just for himself - Kirby and Dolly don't eat.

That evening, the family decided to sit down together outside - despite the rain - to talk about what had happened earlier.
"Look, I know I broke the rules but..."
"But what, Dolly?"
"I just think...it's easier, isn't it? Just to give in. Cheaper, too."

"Money is no object for us, Dolly! There's no excuse! We made it quite clear. It's plasma packs or fruit when you live here."
"Seriously? You don't think Aunt Lilith ever slipped up and drank from a sim while she lived here?"

"This isn't about slipping up, Dolly. You're doing this on purpose. You don't respect us, or our way of life."
"What about MY way of life? Why don't I get any say in it?"
"Because this is OUR house. And like it or not, you're still a teenager."

"After your birthday this weekend, Dolly," Caleb said, calmly, "We think you should move out."
"Wait, wait!" Dolly exclaimed, "You're kicking me out?!"
"No. We're not," Kirby replied, flatly, "You're welcome back any time, we just feel..."

"We just feel you'd benefit from having your own space. Having room to think about the kind of the vampire, and the kind of person, you want to be," Caleb explained.
Dolly looked at her phone, "Where am I gonna go?"
"We'd set you up with a place. We've set Max up at university...but we don't have to worry about any of that right now. Let's just enjoy the rest of spring, right?"

After that, Dolly invited the girls over for a casual evening. Probably to try and forget the seriousness of the discussion with her parents, but also because Dolly's the oldest - she'll be an adult before any of the others.
I also had a look at who she was closest to, and was surprised to find it was Tori. Everyone really likes Tori.

Later that night, Dolly was thirsty and the flower bunny was still hopping about...
I just thought I'd see if it was possible.

And it was !
I love this game sometimes.

A new day arrives, and Caleb is taking Bella out for a walk in his swim shorts.
As you do.

While he was out, I renovated the living room a little.
The old layout was overdue a shake up, and I don't feel like it made the best use of the space. I'd done it when they first moved here and didn't have tons of money. I like this a lot more :)

I did a little bit of people watching while Caleb walked the dog, and really liked that the human statue had a broomstick.

There seems to be quite a few spellcasters out today, for some reason.

After walking the dog, Caleb takes on some freelance work - last time I played the Vatores, the career wasn't working properly, but I'm happy to report it's functioning again!

Have I mentioned lately that I love him?

And have I mentioned lately that these two are one of my all-time favourite couples?

Another beautiful spring day arrives, and the Vatores should probably take their Bunny Day decs down.

Caleb starts the morning off tending to the garden and topping up the bird feeder - only this time he was attacked by birds. And he's pretty mad about it.

He decided to swim angry laps - and I love that Bella got in with him again.

Also someone pranked the toilet - probably Dolly, because of the rebellious phase - even though no one ever uses it?
That prank is going to be there for some time.

That evening, Dolly was invited out to the discotheque by her Aunt Lilith.
Apparently that also means David Titan-Ojo is going dancing too. I swear, he's at every single social event.

She may look happy and content, but Dolly is actually super tense from applying to university.
I'm not sure I'd move her to Britechester, or even enrol her on a course. I just like having the option.

Of course, Max would turn up.

And Marnie as well!
I guess everyone is out on the town tonight.

Despite all the rebellion, boyfriends and vampire stuff, Dolly is a really good student. And she's on track to get some of the positive character value traits.
She is a good kid, even if she doesn't see eye to eye with her parents <3

Cassandra Goth disapproves of your life choices, Dolly.

...this is how bees wish people a good morning, right?
To be fair, I think this is the first time they got upset, which is pretty good going for bees in my game. I usually end up deleting the box.

Comfort after their bee stings comes from the other household pets.

Guess who got accepted into university!
Like I said, I have no idea if I'll actually enrol her, but it's still good!

How long have I had vampires now? Eight or nine rotations? So how come this is the first time I realised they can do this?
How did I miss that?

He's baking again, but it's for a reason this time - the Vatores are having a party!
A birthday party, for a certain young vampire.

All the usual faces are invited - it's still kind of odd not having Jo around, though. She used to be at every single party.

Technically, I'm growing Dolly up a day early. She's supposed to have her birthday on the first day of summer. But in order to give her the whole of summer in her new place, I'm growing her up now.
Happy Birthday Dolly :)

Dolly's final trait is Love the Outdoors! I guess given that her parents are big on gardening, and she spent a childhood hanging around the pool, that it kind of makes sense.
She also got the Responsible, Mediator & Compassionate reward traits!

It looks like Caleb is teaching Father Winter how to cook.

I can't wait to play Dolly next season, it's going to be so much fun!
At the end of the party, Dolly moved into an apartment in the Fashion District - 1313 21 Chic Street. Her neighbours are the Titan-Ojos, and Penny Pizzazz. There's also an outline of a body underneath one of her rugs!

"So," Caleb said, "We live alone now."
"We do."
"What should we do first?"

"I have an idea."

To be fair, you two used to do that when you had both of your kids living at home.
Anyway, that's where Spring 3 ended for the Vatores!

It seems strange that the two of them live alone again! And I must admit, after their gardening, bees and bugs, I'm kind of tempted to try out the new pack (when it comes out) with these two...but we'll see.
We have the rest of the season to get through first! See you next time for the Embers!
