I had to do a fair bit of travelling today, and it was fun, so I figured I'd share it. :)

Right, so today I had to visit a city to go to an open day for a university my friend is applying for. Simple enough, right? We only had to change train twice, and that wasn't going to be too much hassle. Though it's always the whole "is this my train?" whilst waiting in the station - because the trains aren't labelled, which is really unhelpful.

We got to the city okay, which was cool. I like travelling by train, there's no worries once you're on the train and you're off, and the ticket conductor has been past. It was the return when things started to turn hilariously wrong.

Our first connection went well, and we pulled into the station supposedly on time. Checked the monitors, headed to the right platform and there was already a train waiting. My friend decided that was our train and we were late and going to miss it. So we jumped on.

Once the train pulled out of the station, it announced it was going to London, which is MILES away from home. Panicking took place, until the conductor showed up and kindly pointed out we could get off at the next stop and take the train back to where we were supposed to be. He didn't charge us for that train journey, which was nice.

The next train we needed was an hour late, and we were stuck in a tiny, draughty train station with a bag of chocolate and a box of muffins. Best things to be stranded with, I guess. So we had a laugh waiting for the train to take us back.

It all went smoothly from there, but it was very dramatic for a moment. Especially when it looked like we were going to end up in my country's capital with no money to buy a ticket home. Just thought I'd share that little highlight from my day. :)
