The Wrongway Legacy: Three More Drabbles!
Mar. 16th, 2012 02:46 pmHere are three of them. :)
Don't Waste Your Time
Characters: Ariel and Aphrodite
Description: Aphrodite makes an effort for Mother's Day
Notes: I consider this to be canon, though it never appeared in a chapter.
Word Count: 189
Aphrodite tried to smile brightly as she carried a vase of daffodils through the dark corridors of her family home. For some reason, Ralph and Ariel didn't appreciate light in their home, and the heavy drapes were normally pulled shut. Aphrodite's daffodils were the only burst of colour in the shadows.
With a knock on the door of her mother's office, Aphrodite entered, to find Ariel sat at the desk. Her mother raised an eyebrow, but said nothing as Aphrodite crossed the room and set the daffodils down on a space on the desk.
“Happy Mother's Day!” Aphrodite announced, cheerfully. Ariel took a moment to gaze at the daffodils, before raising a hand.
“Why did you bother with such nonsense,” Ariel demanded, and cast a spell under her breath. The daffodils caught fire, “Don't waste your time next year, Aphrodite,”
The smile on Aphrodite's face had faded, along with her happiness and enthusiasm. Swallowing the lump in her throat, Aphrodite nodded, and turned her back on the charred flowers, wandering out of the room.
Next year, Aphrodite wouldn't bother. Nor any of the years that followed.
Stolen Moments
Characters: Hex and Lavender
Description: Hex and Lavender spend some time together in the dead of night.
Notes: I have a list of prompts I'm writing to, and “Hexander” was one of the prompts. This is kind of spoiler-y, as Hex's Reaper Child is mentioned, and some of the Supernatural Court is brought up, but nothing too spoiler-y, really. I consider this canon, but it won't actually come into a chapter.
Word Count: 306
Lavender regretted time passing. Her bones seemed to creak as she sat down on the sofa, after a long day of running around after the Supernatural Court – raising a toddler while housing many creatures and supernaturally gifted sims was hard work.
A nearby lamp snapped on, and a worn-out Hex was stood next to it, a weak smile offered at the woman he loved.
“Cyrus is finally asleep,” Hex stated, joining Lavender on the sofa, “and it only took a few hours,”
“Solan went to bed about half an hour ago, saying he was going to pull an all-nighter with the Lord of the Rings movies,” Lavender replied, “and his friends are asleep in the guest room,”
Hex nodded, and put his arm around Lavender, “The upper floor, for the supernatural refugees, is quiet, too. It seems the whole of the house is finally quiet,”
Lavender smiled, and bit her lip, “So we have a moment alone?”
“I'm so happy we do,” Hex told her, and leaned in to kiss her. Just then, the door slammed open, and a couple of vampires entered the room.
“We're having a gaming tournament!” One of them announced, “Can we use this room?”
Hex rolled his eyes, but Lavender grinned, “Of course. We were now going to bed anyway,”
The couple left the room, leaving the vampires to shout and cheer at their game console, and started to climb the stairs. Hex and Lavender shared a small bedroom tucked away on the second floor, next to Cyrus's room.
Hex sighed as heavy rock music started to play from down the hall, “Does this house ever sleep?”
Lavender kissed his cheek, “You'd be upset if the house was quiet all the time. Come on, let's go to bed.”
It's Not All Bad
Characters: Ralph and Jim
Description: Ralph explains the meaning of being a brother to Jim.
Notes: I've been thinking a lot about what the brothers were like together as kids. So I figured I'd write a drabble on it.
Word Count: 246
“For the last time, STOP touching my stuff!” Ralph snapped, as he straightened up the figures he kept on his bookshelf. Jim scowled, and sat on his bed.
“I was just looking! You have some interesting books!” Jim replied, loudly. He was four years younger than Ralph, that didn't mean he was a baby.
“Jim, I swear to plumbbob, if you don't stop touching my things, I am going to make your life a living hell!” Ralph growled, “It's so not fair that I have to share a room with you!”
“I LIKE sharing a room with you!” Jim said, suddenly, “I don't understand why you hate me!”
Ralph glanced at his little brother, who was leaning against the window, tears forming in his eyes. Feeling a little bit guilty, Ralph crossed the room and sat next to Jim, “Hey, now. I don't hate you. Who told you that?”
“No one had to tell me,” Jim sniffed, “I worked it out,”
“You're my baby brother, Jim. Just because I pick on you doesn't mean I hate you,” Ralph told him, quietly, “And if anyone else did it, I would honestly beat them up. No one upsets my little brother,”
Jim stared at Ralph, wide-eyed, “Are you sure?”
“Positive,” Ralph smiled, warmly, “Brothers argue, but they stick together,”
“I hope so,” Jim stated, with a little bit of hope to his voice.

And that's it! I hope you enjoyed them, feel free to tell me what you think! :)
