Building Rubix: Week Two, Part One
Jul. 16th, 2012 08:58 pm
Hello again! I won't be able to update this quickly again for some time, but I'd played 3/4 of the second week yesterday when I posted the first week. So you get more! Hooray!
*crickets*
Well, anyway. This week is served in two parts, because there wasn't enough pictures from every household to justify a separate post for each household. Part One will contain the Robinson family and the Loreen family, Part Two will contain the Thayer and Cameron families.
The week's statistics will be available at the end of Part Two :)
The Robinson Family

"Matt! Why did you puke on me?!"
We rejoin the Robinsons to find them being adorable and raising Matt. Of course, the adorableness comes with a price - Michelle doesn't realise you shouldn't play with a baby after you just fed it.

Wes, however, was smart enough not to get thrown up on. Instead, he chose calm activities, like reading Matt a story. Though, Wes has a couple of novels on the bookcase, so he's probably just smug he can read his own novels to his son.

On Tuesday, because Tuesday and Thursdays are business days in the Robinson household, Wes spent some of his earnings from Robinson's Little Bar on a new business. Green Groceries is pretty much your local convenience store.

Of course, Rubix is so small at the minute that it became *the* place to hang out. Hackey-sack in the local convenience store? Sure, why not!!
Rubix folk know how to live on the wild side.

Reasons why Playful sims shouldn't manage businesses! Wes's only employee, Angel Go, does all of the work, while Wes pretty much just goofs off.
Or maybe he's out there meeting potential customers. They do tend to throw more stars our way playing hackey-sack.
Green Groceries made it to Rank 1, according to my notes. Then I got bored.

Though at home, Wes is just as playful. Kareoke at midnight? Of course that's a good idea!

Matt grew into an adorable young man. His skin colour, eyes and hair colour immediately make him look like Wes, but upon closer inspection, that might be Michelle's nose.
We'll see. He's going to be a handsome man, though, I think.

One of Michelle's closest friends came over, La Shawn Cameron. Which is when I started wondering why I hadn't made La Shawn playable. I mean, Wes's best friend Griff Thayer got turned playable.
So La Shawn moved in, temporarily.

After a quick makeover - and changing her hair so it matches her eyebrows - La Shawn is ready to take on the world as a townie-made-playable. She'll appear at the end of part two, as she's at the end of the rotation.

In the meantime, Matt sets out to prove his is definitely Wes's son. You know, if there was any doubt.

Matt is a serial smustler. Music's on? Just got in from school? Time to smustle!
Thing is, Matt is seriously good at dancing.

I adore Matt. I am so looking forward to playing him when he gets a bit older. I'd like to have unlocked the university by that time, but I haven't picked a method yet.
Though I'm probably going to go for taxes. Once I've found a calculator.

And the week ends with the family smustling. Typical Robinsons, no?
The Loreen Family

Everybody, meet Joanna Loreen. She used my one CAS point from the last rotation, mostly because I wasn't sure if townies-turned-playable counted against the CAS points at the end of the last rotation.
I've had that cleared up since then.
Anyway, Jo is a family sim living on the same road as the Robinsons. Which is named Lyndon Hill, for anyone who is curious.

The week starts off as normal, really, with Welcome Wagons, and a visit from Michelle Robinson.
Oh, and that jock behind Jo, Sinjin, is quite possibly the meanest sim in Rubix. He dislikes everyone.

"Boo! This house isn't as nice as mine!"
Did I mention that in addition to being playful, the Robinsons also lack nice points?

Leo Wilkie might just be my new favourite sim. He gave Jo a 'free sample' to 'mess around with'. I peeked in her inventory, and he's only given us a flat-screen tv!
The donation was gratefully accepted, and will be used to open a business in the day time.

The next day, Jo opened Visions, a salon that also sells mirrors. Because who doesn't want to purchase a mirror when they go for a hair cut?

Unfortunately, Jo was neither good at selling, nor good at makeovers. She was just good with people. This guy, Anthony Day, had his good looks ruined by Jo's make-up brush.
And he left before we could fix it.
But Jo messed up every single makeover, so in the end, I sold the salon chair and bought her some more mirrors. Visions is now a mirror shop. And not a successful one at that.

Oh man, this week isn't going very well at all. Stupid witches, causing chaos.
And every time Jo sprayed them, more seemed to crop up. Leaving Visions at Rank 0.

Jo did manage to make friends, though. Hackey-Sack gave us a couple of stars, but not enough to bump the rank up. However, something else came out of this.
See that guy in the sports kit?

Jo wants you to know she really likes him.
Seriously, she greeted him with a smooch, and it surprised me. I didn't expect that at all! They were just friends!

They're two bolts. I cannot resist the cuteness of their romance! They chose each other! N'aaaw!

So Gavin Le Tourneau moves in. And adds $14,000 to the family funds. I really, really like this guy! I'm so happy Jo chose him. It also turns out he's quite high up in the Slacker career, the only career I've unlocked at the minute.
He can keep that job!

I also got Gavin out of that sports kit. I wouldn't mind if he was playing sports, but he's not. He gets a pretty casual look, which I think is fine.

On Thursday, Jo and Gavin open The Venue, another hang-out in Rubix. The lack of windows? I'm putting them in later.
Robinson's Little Bar might have some competition!

Turns out Gavin is also good with people, and both him and Jo leave with bronze sales badges, and The Venue is at Rank 1.

The next day, Gavin tops the slacker career. Rubix has its first Professional Party Guest!
Came with a nice bonus, too. Let's just say the Loreen family are not strapped for cash.

The next logical step was to get Jo and Gavin married. The week has turned from quite a difficult start - with the failure of Visions - to quite a successful one. At least, in my opinion - a rich boyfriend and a new business!

As much as I would've liked to throw Jo and Gavin a nice wedding with their friends present, it was the middle of the night and I was feeling lazy.

The couple immediately get started on making their union 'official'.

Great. Thanks for that, Gavin. But on the plus side - hooray, a fire!!

I didn't expect the fire to take out half the kitchen. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the kitchen counters were replaced pretty quickly.

It also wasn't long until Jo started showing signs of pregnancy. Hooray, a Loreen baby! I can't wait to meet him or her!

The week ended there for the Loreens. How sweet are they?
You'll find the Thayer household and the Cameron household over in part two.
