Curious Capp: Prologue
Aug. 6th, 2012 10:48 am
Hi there! This is my attempt at the challenge
Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do. :)

The morning of Consort Capp's funeral was gorgeously bright and sunny. On any other day, the younger generation of Veronaville would rather head to the riverside, for relaxation and entertainment, but instead, the Capp family prepared to show their respects.
Well, all of the Capp family but Hermia.
Hermia had met Mercutio Monty by chance, and their friendship continued that way. The fact they fell in love and fell into bed was not planned, and it was more luck, or the lack of it, that lead to the consequences.
“If Tybalt catches you here, you're dead, Merc.” Hermia said, quietly.
“I had to see you,” Mercutio replied, “There is no way that I'm missing your last day in Veronaville.”
“Merc, you're not the type for romantic gestures, why are you here?”
“I was going to beg you to stay,” Mercutio sighed, “But I figured that it would do no good. Your mind is made up.”
“It is,” Hermia said, sadly, “If I stay, Merc, Puck will find out that the baby isn't his, Tybalt will kick up a fuss...I can't cause more of the feud, Merc. The feud ends with us – I don't want it for my children.”
“I can't say I blame you for that,” Mercutio commented, calmly, “But how can I be there for you and the baby when you refuse to take me with you?”
“I want to get away, Merc. From feuds, and affairs, Veronaville and all its troubles. Who knows, Merc, maybe one day I'll be back,” Hermia couldn't bear to look at him, “But for now, you have to stay here.”
“I know, I know. I wish more than anything that you would change your mind, Hermia,” Mercutio shook his head, “I'm always here if you need me, though.”
She pulled him close.
“That's not to say I won't miss you, Merc.” Hermia held him like she wouldn't let go, and for a moment, Mercutio almost believed she wouldn't.
But she did. She let him go, and looked away, seemingly trying to hold back tears. Mercutio bit his lip.
“What if that's the last time I get to hold you?” He asked, in a quiet voice. He was on the edge of breaking into tears himself.
“It won't be,” Hermia replied, though she was uncertain, “I will be back in Veronaville one day. I need space, for now, Merc. I need the world.”
He pulled her into a kiss that let her know that he was going to let her go, that she had his permission to leave Veronaville with their child, to see the world, to be who she truly wanted to be, not who the feud wanted her to be.
Hermia's kiss gave him comfort, the promise that somehow, she'd always love him.
“I need to go, Merc,” Hermia whispered, “And so do you. I don't want Tybalt catching you.”
“He won't,” Mercutio replied, firmly, “You know everything will be fine.”
Hermia nodded, “Goodbye, Merc.”
Mercutio closed his eyes, “I love you, Hermia. Please stay safe.”
He watched her walk out of the driveway, with his shoulders slumped, wondering if she'd already sent her things on to the first place she was heading for. Mercutio wished he'd asked where she was going – he'd travel the world after her, if that's what it took.
But instead of calling after her, begging her to stay, he lingered on the steps of her driveway, knowing he no longer had a reason to be on the Capp side of town.
Hermia, though excited for her new beginning, did feel a little sad that it was finally time to turn her back on her home. She hadn't realised leaving the people she loved would be so difficult – saying goodbye to Merc had been more heartbreaking than writing the letter to Puck.
Maybe because she had been there to witness his reaction.
Hermia tried to shake this from her head as she headed for the train station, ready to take the first steps into her new life.

And that's it for the prologue, I hope to have part one up soon - Hermia is heading to Desiderata Valley first, because I'm working from a map a drew awhile back.
Thanks for reading!
