Project Sim State: Part One
Jan. 31st, 2013 08:18 pmI finished up a rotation at Sim State, and it was rather amusing, so I thought I'd share. : ) I've being playing each household a semester at a time, and because there's only four households it doesn't take too long.

First up is the Bright household - Allegra Gorey, Martin Ruben & Jane Stacks.
It's been quite some time since I last played through university properly, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Well. It was boring for the first little part. Getting the skills required for these guys to pass properly, and after that, they were just incredibly nic to each other. I don't have many sims that get along this well - or that's how it feels a lot of the time.
Anyway, I decided to mix things up a little bit.

So, the Freshman household got invited over. Purely because the Freshmans don't have any connections outside their little group yet. Plus more sims = more fun right?

Well, apparently not for Jared Starchild and Ty Bubbler. They'd rather hang out together.

Part of me wonders if they're gay for each other, because I didn't set up gender preferences when I started up the 'hood. Oops?
Either way, these two will be interesting to keep an eye on.

ACR also started some stuff between Allegra and Martin. Which is fine, except Jane has high chemistry with Martin, too.

These guys are unlike any freshers I've ever met! My flatmates during that brief time I was at uni didn't study much, they were constantly partying. But I suppose there is more to university than juice and bubbles!

"Aw, I'm so happy that you guys are getting together!"

"Um, okay, guys, this is kind of a communal living area..."

"Fine, I'll just wait here while you guys finish sucking face."

"My turn!"
Dammit, Jane. I decided to put a stop to this as soon as I possibly could. . .by finding Jane a partner of her own!

Two bolts and adorable to boot. Jane Stacks and Castor Nova were one of the intended couples of the game, but they're actually well matched so I'm going to allow this.

I mean, how can you refuse them?

"Yay, love!"
Jane still struggles with boundaries though, it seems. I mean, it's not like they're glued to each others faces in the kitchen at this point.
Of course, it doesn't bother Allegra or Martin.

The semester ended with all three students getting A+ and being put on the Dean's List. Hooray!
The next students in the rotation were the sorority girls.

Naturally, most of the house was at class when I loaded it. And it left me with Tiffany Sampson, who I imagine to be a lot different to the girls she lives with. Like, Heather and Brittany seem to be those really rowdy party students, whereas Tiffany seems a lot more inclined to work and hard and graduate.
Random observation is random, but it means I've taken a liking to Tiffany.

Heather's bio stated that she was trying to get with Martin Ruben as a conquest-type deal. And I was going to give it a go and see how it played out - purely because of the cliché story that was forming in my head. You know the one, popular girl attempts to a woo a nerdy boy just because she can and then DUN DUN DUN she actually likes him.
But negative chemistry. Martin doesn't want anything to do with Heather.
However, Heather and Joshua Ruben got along better. Though in Joshua's case, he really didn't seem that interested.

Also the sorority SUCKED when I first loaded it. The girls didn't even own a bookcase, which annoyed me a lot. Sure, that was probably in place so that these girls go to community lots and get loads of pledges, but no. I am too lazy for that.
So I am attempting to do-over the house, bit by bit. Because money is tight.

Something I'd forgotten from uni because I haven't played it in ages: the "visit campus" thing.
It pisses me off. They do it ALL the time. I don't want four pizzas on every surface of the house!

This is a common sight. I mean, okay, so I don't have to remember to feed them. But they even get pizza when they're not hungry!
And then there's pizza everywhere!
I need to find some sort of hack that stops this. If such a thing exists.

With that rant over, Heather's working on fulfilling some purple heart wants. I don't know if she'll settle down yet, but I refuse to let her settle with Ashley Pitts. They have almost exactly the same faces!

Anyway, Heather got what she wanted. Ashley just took a bit of convincing.

Downstairs, the girls have guests. Again, I liked the idea of the Freshman meeting everyone, and plus I think the girls could do with some more friends. I doubt Sam will pledge and join but whatever.

Also, Tiffany threw a couple of bolts for Erik Swain, and I fully support this decision.
I've never played Erik Swain before. Like, ever. I hadn't even heard of him.
So I look forward to seeing what he gets up to.

Even if he doesn't like Tiffany as much as she likes him.
I'm sure time will change that. Or he'll find a different girl.

Meanwhile, Jared and Sam go to other people's houses, and study. That's it. No shenanigans, just studying.
There's nothing wrong with that, it just doesn't make for many interesting pictures.

Jimmy Phoenix and Heather hit it off though, and Heather rolled the want to ask him on a date. He refused.
But I guess in Heather's eyes, that makes him a challenge, because she's still rolling wants for him.

Meanwhile, Tiffany and Erik finally worked out. I have no idea what happened, but I like this.

And it just occurred to me that Brittany didn't do anything interesting during the rotation. And all three girls passed their exam with A+, on the Dean's List. Pretty much how every household will end, I'm afraid.
Next up are the Frat brothers.

Again, their house had next to no studying equipment. I couldn't find a single bookcase - this frustrates me! So I threw some stuff in.
And Joshua rolled the want to major in Biology. I guess he wasn't that distracted by girls and parties, like his bio said he was.

Ashley, however, is the opposite of studious. I sent him to study, but he never got that far. I decided to take the minimalist approach with Ashley - I'll give him the skills, and it's up to him to fill that bar by attending class and so on.
He's just not interested in studying.

Meanwhile, the Knowledge sim, who is really good at studying, has something new to distract him. I do think he's adorable with Jane, though.

I don't often have finger-gunners in my 'hoods, so this is pretty cool. Even if he is doing it while holding the phone.

Once again, the Freshman household are called over, so they can chill out with everyone.
Erik went straight for the bubbles.

Meanwhile, the guys ended up taking the sofa.
"Guys, shouldn't we be like, talking to people?"
"I'm quite comfortable sitting here, thank you."

The boys stayed all night, then took their couch party out to the hot tub. I guess they really don't like people.

Elsewhere on the lot, this happened.
I'm not sure if Joshua's gaze is appropriate. He kind of looks like has no idea where he *should* be looking.

Bubbles before a final exam because why not. I let the boys do what they want, pretty much, and this is how they'd like to spend their last few moments before an exam.
Also Erik won't go home.

All the boys passed - even Ashley! I'm pretty Ashley even got onto the Dean's List. Speaking of which, because I'm from the UK, I have absolutely no idea what being on the 'Dean's List' actually means. Would anyone like to explain it to me?
Anyway, the final household is the Freshman household.

I checked gender preferences and things when I loaded the lot. Jared is straight, Ty is gay, and they're best friends. Which would explain why they stalk each other on other lots.
I think I might have set Jared to bisexual after this (it seemed to suit him) but he prefers women.
Like Sierra here!

He's a laid-back hippy and she seems to be wearing some sort of suit, but they just work together apparently.
Opposites attract?
These two are probably my favourite couple so far.

It's probably something to do with the fact they seem to be total opposites. Or the fact I'd like to see what kind of children they'd make. Or the fact I think Sierra Starchild is a cool name.

Also, Jared is gross. Luckily for him, the Freshman Household are all really good friends, so Sam won't judge him too much on the fact he's gross.
Speaking of Sam...

It turns out she did more than just study at other people's houses. In Jimmy's memories, I found a "Rejected for Make-Out" memory, and wondered who he'd been attempting to kiss - assuming it was Heather - and it turned out to be Sam!
And they've been stalking each other round the dorm ever since. I guess Sam just wasn't ready for kisses.
There go my plans to hook Jimmy up with Heather.

"Stinky dishes! Dirty hippy! Take me now, Jared!"
I don't know. I just thought this was a really cool shot.

Yeah, I hope you weren't expecting too much from the Freshmen, because they did nothing but fall in love. Which was sweet.
But there's only so many pictures of romance I can be bothered to resize.

Oh yeah, and Ty found a guy he liked, too. Although Ty and Nery Mazza progressed a lot slower than the couples around them. Which is cool, it's nice to have a change of pace.

What I've really liked about Sim State so far is the different types of houses. I mean, I have two Greek houses, a household in a dorm, and a regular house. It's pretty cool, because different things happen in each one.
Even if they sometimes get annoying. Stupid cow mascot.

Anyway, Dean's List and A+ for everyone huzzah.
And that's it! I can't wait to play the next rotation! :D
Hope you enjoyed seeing what the guys got up to
