From the Hart: An OWBC - 3.5

Welcome back to my OWBC!

It has been awhile, hasn't it? Hence why I now have a recap up, to remind you who everyone is! I'm also posting chapters in blog format from here on out, rather than using slideshare. It's just easier for me at the moment.

Last time, the family gnome was returned after a huge length of time. Seriously, I'd given up all hope. Little Craig was born, the last of Strawberry's required pregnancies. Several birthdays were celebrated, wishes were made, and the swimming pool finally got some use. The family earned a wishing well, and Nettle moved out. Strawberry wished for love to please Keika, who wanted to see her settled. It didn't go super well, and Keika passed away shortly after. The family also got a new dog named Archie.

Let's start with a quick refresher of who lives at the Love Shack - we have Onyx, the magical and immortal heir of the previous generation, his daughter and current heir, Strawberry, and Strawberry's three boys: Oli, Patrick and Craig. Also living with them is their servo, Mad Cat.




We rejoin the family at werewolf hour.

Honestly? I thought I'd cured Strawberry.




How are they surprised by this? Have they not seen their grandfather?!




Patrick apparently missed the werewolf transition by being on the phone. For aaages! And I have no idea who he was talking to!

A reminder, Patrick is our Bad Apple this generation - I can't click on him or control him.




I'm going to put Onyx being out of time down to his zombie-ness.

A zombie brain has to slow things down, right?




Elsewhere, Oli is going to hold the puppy until he starves.

Oli is a Family sim, and loves animals, but he should probably learn a few things about caring for them.




Given that Onyx and Strawberry never really sleep due to their supernatural-ness, it's probably no surprise Patrick is nocturnal. I'm guessing he learnt the habit from them.

"Sleep is for losers!!"




The first 27 screenshots of this update are from long ago, but I still remember why I took this one of Onyx: it was purely because I love him.

He's one of my favourite sims of all time.




"Good morning, world!"

If there's a better way to start your Saturday, I don't want to know about it.




Onyx is starting his day with eggplant juice, and looks a little bit like he's hosting the world's weirdest cooking show.




Because of the Drew Rule, repairs can't be done until 12pm. Oli is the unlucky one who has to do the repairs today.




"How is every tap in the house broken?!"

He takes after his mother in nice points, can you tell?




Someone is feeling too inspired to eat...!

I'm sure someone must have called him to eat at some point, but there was definitely a moment where I thought he was just going to carry on playing.




Oli has been a teenager for a couple of days, and because he's a Family sim, he's already desperate for love. Plus his social is a little low.

So it's time to toss a coin in the well!






The well summons Melanie Do, and Oli has bolts for her.




You know the relationship is serious when the makeover chair comes out.

"You know Grandad has never done that before, right? Good luck! KACHOW!"




It took three tries to get Patrick down to eat. This boy will be the death of me.




Did you know scarecrows can spook sims? Because I don't think I did until recently.

Also, a shooting star in the background!




Sunday morning brings sunshine, and the suitcase salute.

Which can only mean one thing - it's time for the generation vacation!




It was also the first time I noticed Craig's side profile - the little guy is a chinless wonder!




"Welcome to the most expensive hotel on the island, m'am."

At this point, the Harts are rolling in money, so why not splash out a little? I don't think I've had any sims stay here in yeeeears.




Plus the hotel is right on the beach, that's a huge bonus.




"Uh...what are you guys doing?"

I need a portrait of the generation in the main house for the Family Scrapbook bonus, only posing nice group pictures is hard with an uncontrollable sim.




"Time to ignore the kids and work on my tan!"




So the kids were left to their own devices.

Patrick spent the time making friends, which was nice to see.




Craig ended up bothering the locals, but he learnt how to hang loose, which is a plus. I expect every member of the extended family will know how to hang loose by the end of the challenge.

Also, I still can't get over Craig's total lack of a chin, bless him.




"Sweet! Got a tan!"

So now you're free to spend some time with your kids, maybe?




"Ancient ruins! This is great, Mum!"

"Sure. I'm going to go sit in the hot spring for a few hours."




This was the first day I played after not opening the family for 12 months, and somehow Strawberry becoming a werewolf took me by surprise.

She rolled the want to be cured a couple of times while on holiday, I might look into it if she stills feels like that when they get home.




Forget taking in the culture, the kids just want to play catch.

"Craig! You nearly took my head off!"




Look how cute he is. Like butter wouldn't melt.




"Look Craig, I can roly poly!"

"No, you can lay flat on your back and that sucks. Boo! BOO!"

Craig is probably the first Hart child that hasn't hidden his mean streak. Strawberry didn't seem to be this mean as a kid.




Back at the hotel, I took a minute to stop and appreciate the view <3

Man, I've missed this game.




Look at that! Patrick is heading to bed at a reasonable hour!

Miracles do happen!




Oli decides bedtime can wait, because sandcastles aren't going to build themselves.

He might be a little bit addicted. I blame his 9 creativity points.




He's a good kid <3




Outside, Strawberry heart-farted and threw some bolts at this local. So I decided she could flirt with him, see where things go.

And this was the face she pulled!

Fine, Strawb, don't flirt with the guy! Eeesh.




"Heeey, hang loose and leave Zeeshan alone!"

"I'm sorry, what?"

"You heard. Leave Zeeshan alone. I'm tired of you tourists coming here and helping yourselves."

"Oh really?"




"Hey Zeeshan, wanna go find a quiet spot to make out?"

"Of course!"




Of course, once she had Zeeshan's attention, Strawberry was immediately bored.

"Everything is so meh."

I swear, I've never played a sim like Strawberry before.




It's a bright new day, so Strawberry takes the boys out to see some sights.

First stop, the pirate ship!




Seriously, Strawberry? We haven't even been here five minutes yet.






Well, someone's having a good time!

He stood and cackled on the boat so long I thought he was glitched. Patrick just really likes pirates apparently.




Really, Oli? There's a massive pirate ship to explore, but this is how you want to spend your time?

"This vacation was worth every penny!"

Whatever floats your boat, kid.




"Does this guy ever stop talking? And laughing?"

Man, she's bored of him already.




Is it safe to a let a child climb up there??




The highlight of the day, though? The Unsavoury Charlatan pick-pocketing the tour guide. I didn't know that was possible!

Anyway, the family spent pretty much the whole day there, and then headed back to the hotel.




The following morning, it's back to the beach.

I can't believe they've been on holiday this long and this is the first time anyone has gone swimming.




Once again, the kids are entertaining themselves.

I wonder how long this guy will hold Strawberry's attention for today?




I'm guessing Patrick is stacked with outgoing points, because he's always finding people to talk to.

I'm also predicting that his personality is different to Oli's and Craig's, he just seems nicer and more friendly. And he definitely doesn't get that from his mother.




"Mum, can I have some money? I want to know what the surprise is in Pineapple Surprise."

"Not now, Oli, I'm busy."




Night falls, and they head back to the hotel for the last night.

Patrick and Craig decide to spend it playing, which is sweet.




Strawberry and Oli, however, decide it's the perfect time to play kicky bag. Although Oli kind of sucks at it, he dropped the ball three times.

"Just kick it to me, Oli."

"I'm trying!"

"I'm not even that far away, Oli."




Craig stopped his game of Cops and Robbers just to come in and tell Oli what he thinks of his kicky bag skills.

"Boo! Don't quit your day job!"




"I love that you've got my mean streak, kid, but maybe be a bit nicer to your brothers."

"I'll think about it."




Morning arrives, and so does check out time.

"Come on Oli, enough sandcastles."

"Just...hold on a sec! I have to finish it!"

"We will leave you here if you don't hurry, kid. I'm not missing this flight."

So what's been going on back home while Strawberry and the boys have been away? Well...




"...don't wanna close my eyes, I don't wanna fall asleep cos I miss you baby, and I don't wanna miss a thing!"

Business as usual, of course!
